Great venue for a Wednesday evening and a large group. Lovely large bar area with seating, dining area plush and spacious. Very good selection of fizz and wine by the glass including several English sparkling wines. I had steak, it was cooked perfectly and tasty. Accompaniments were a good size. Definitely recommend this place.
This venue looks impressive from the outside, however upon entering the music volume was more akin to a nightclub.
We started with a couple of coctails at the bar. These were well made and very good, albeit at £11 a drink. We then went for the a la carte menu. We had considered the tasting menu but was told this was no longer offered (despite being on the website), perhaps this was due to the festive season and some large parties attending.
Service was good and attentive. We had a number of wines by the glass, which were good examples of their stock. The food was overall average, and only a modest menu selection offered. The starters were interesting and a little different to usual fare. My main was nothing extraordinary, and the side of truffle mash was over powering; more truffle than mash. Pudding was not exciting.
3 course dinner for 2, including 2 coctails and 4 glasses of wine by the glass, £150. I would not choose to go there again, there will be better places for those prices.
Food was ok but nothing outstanding
Chips with Parmesan ...just chips with some Parmesan grated over it?? Menu needs to be reviewed
I have never come across a place like this. Being a Esher local I thought I’d try this place which changed many hands over the years. There is obviously poor or incompetent management that runs this place. Service is extremely slow and staff are rude and inept. The food is dull with no notion and pretentious of a high end restaurant when they are not. This place changed hands so many times and never worked. I guess they didn’t manage to get it right this time around.
Booked for a nice quiet dinner. The music was so loud we couldn’t talk between us. The menu is really short and there are not many options to choose from while prices are very expensive. Food is average.
Seems like the staff have a chip on their shoulder.
This place is so disorganized. It’s like they don’t know what they are doing. My food order was mixed up with someone else’s and I ended up eating something I hadn’t ordered. A simple apology would have been appreciated but nobody touched base. Staff lack knowledge and it’s obvious there is poor management. Food is mediocre, it’s not great. It’s a shame as the restaurant is gorgeous but it’s being let down by the team.
Extremely poor service
Waiting staff extremely overwhelmed with five tables
The wait for the drinks was 30 minutes
The experience felt rushed
Food was ok but not a great of choice
Staff in pizza express are more attentive
Very disappointed. The staff need to up their game and the food needs to improve. The options in the menu are so limited. The music is so loud we could barely listen to ourselves talk. We didn’t know whether we booked a restaurant or a night club. Shame as it could have been great.
This restaurant has a long way to go to improve it's service. Food was lovely and plentiful. Premises were clean and inviting, style was a mix of the 1920s meets French burlesque. The singer was also very entertaining and professional.
However, a catalogue of basic service errors spoilt the evening. Especially for my friend for whom the waitress had a blind spot. Missed twice for a wine top-up, had her wine poured into her water glass (with water in it) followed immediately by more water being attempted to be poured into the same glass, before we stopped her. After the main course the waitress did not bring the same friend a desert menu. At which point we complained. The manager who was very apologetic, offered free deserts as compensation which we accepted; although we were not going to have a desert as we were full. To reduce the tension we ordered Creme brûlées. The waiter then brought a cigar box over to offer a selection of chocolate slivers, and knocked the wine all over us. Accident, yes, but absolutely unacceptable. We asked for the bill and a taxi to be ordered. We paid and waited. After 20 minutes asked where the taxi was to be told no one had ordered one! By now fuming. Don't recommend unless you are into disaster evenings.
I’ve dined in fine dining restaurants before and this certainly is by far NOT fine dining. The food was not great, the staff were rude and the service was poor. It’s a shame because it could be a nice venue if these things were addressed.
We had a lovely evening at Cuvee. The staff were very polite and professional. Great atmosphere and decor. Top London restaurant quality, without paying London prices. The food was excellent, in particular the fillet steak. We went to the bar area after dinner where there was a great buzz and live singer. He had everyone singing along to his amazing repertoire. We will definitely go back for more fun.
Really enjoyed the tasting menu with wine pairing. Great way to mark an occasion and not something easily found outside of London. Food was a good standard and it was great to meet the chef and hear about their plans.
I had dinner here with friends, the service was very slow and just to communicate with the staff was a challenge. The food was blunt and very disappointing. I found it over priced and pretentious. All in all a very disappointing evening and one place I would not be recommending.
Bar food unavailable and very little choice. Really gone downhill since I last went there in September
Not as good as previous visits. Limited menu choice for non meat eaters and server not familiar enough with the menu. Such a shame as we've had great meals here before.
I heard good things about this place but there won’t be any good things for me to say.
Service was good and staff tried. The food is mediocre and lacks flavor. The combinations don’t work very well together and they are trying to be a high end restaurant but they are failing. Prices are reasonable if only the food could have been better.
Although they say they are a wine bar, they don’t have a sommelier. I asked for a manager and they said that he left too!?
Won’t recommend for dinner - just for a quick drink.
This was my second visit. It was as bad as the first one. Food late to be served, rude staff with a chip on their shoulder, slow service and no enthusiasm from the staff working there. The food is average and very expensive. It is pretentious and they try to be a posh place something they are not.
This was my second and last visit.
The food was superb. The heavy autumn menu ticked a box for each and everyone of us (4 dining),complimented by an extensive wine selection and a knowledgable sommelier. However the noise and the terrible live singer from the associated bar put a huge dampner on the evening.
Very poor service. Lots of staff doing nothing but standing around talking to each other. Food is no more than ok, but not worth it for the very high price. Trying to be a central London high end restaurant and failing miserably.
As a vegetarian I was really disappointed in the veggi selection, there was one dish and it was pretty much just a plate of roasted vegetables. We had a drink (which was lovely) and left
Service was really good though just disappointed in the very limited menu. I asked if they could make me a pasta dish instead and was told no. We had an early booking and there was only one other couple in there so they were not busy at that time
Would I recommend cuVee to a friend? If they eat meat then yes as it's a great space, staff very polite and helpful they just need to put a bit more thought into their vegetarian selection
We had a great evening. The food, wine and general ambiance was excellent.
We had a table for 4 on Saturday night although we were a little dissapointed at not being able to have the tasting menu as we were late sitting down and hadn’t preordered they more than made up for it with the main menu the food was absolutely delicious as were the drinks.
Service was excellent and the ambience great especially the live singer at the end of the evening . Would highly recommend if you are looking for excellent food great drinks and entertainment .
On arrival the staff were very attentive and helpful, had a drink at the bar before we sat down and the service and food were excellent. Would recommend to anyone
Amazing evening celebrating my birthday. Great food - lovely atmosphere - friendly and professional staff - fun night
Superb food and service, fantastic restaurant. The whole experience was a delight.
Lovely place with good food and great staff, the only problem is the online menu is different from real menu. Will definitely visit again
Fantastic and original food with monthly menu changes to reflect the seasonal changes. Outstanding service and the chef came to check all was ok. We will be back!
We did book up and during the time of booking to coming the menu had been changed without letting us know. This was a major issue as the food was good the choice wasn’t very extensive and pretty limited. It didn’t spoil our night but was a big let down.
This was our first visit to Cuvee. Overall, it was a very nice experience. The decor, ambience are all excellent. Service was good as was the food we ordered. There was not a huge choice on the menu. The bar area was particularly nice. An extensive wine list is offered,b ut the wine is overpriced. Although we enjoyed ourselves, I cannot help feeling that they are trying a bit too hard to be upmarket and exclusive but it somehow does not quite make the cut.
I believe they are opening another cocktail bar next door which will be great.
Pleasant staff, only 2 other tables occupied, music from the bar was intrusive and we were not over-impressed with the food, the wine was good but the wine list is very expensive.
the restaurant décor was to a high standard, the food & service excellent.....it was a shame that the restaurant was extremely quiet, but apart from that it was a lovely dinning experience.
I came to dinner on Saturday with my husband and some friends, which was the first time for all of us to your restaurant. We all thought that the food and service were amazing. However during our main course a singer started to sing which was extremely loud and very distracting. I appreciate that the restaurant has a very lively bar, but the music and singing were so loud we really couldn't hear ourselves, and found it difficult to talk to one another.
It would certainly change my mind as to whether I would want to have a meal there again if he was there at the same time, I'm afraid.
Lovely menu and great service but midweek the noise from the bar predominated and as there were only two other diners there apart from ourselves, the dining ambiance could have been better. I’m sure at the weekends it is more buzzy and we certainly couldn’t fault the food or wines. I also recommend the cocktail list , with happy hour not over until 8.00pm there was plenty of time to take advantage of their lovely cocktails as an aperitif.
I really enjoyed the experience but maybe will visit again either at the weekend or with a larger party mid week.
Lovely food and very good service. We thought the wine was overpriced. Will definitely visit again.
Dinner during music night with George Michael tribute act, lot of fun and lively buzz to the restaurant which still served up good food. Beef carpaccio was excellent.
A restaurant in search of itself. Everything feels like an experiment, from the Euro/British decor to the food which is all over the place. The soup was amazing, the burrata strange in a green pea sauce, the vegetables with the tuna were amazing, but the tuna itself was mediocre. This restaurant needs to figure out what works and stick with it.
The cheese soufflé starter and chateaubriand steak main course was excellent. Good range of wines to choose from.
I would recommend to friends but only for drinks as the kitchen closes at 22.30 so no time to order desserts and wasn’t informed until we were ask for menues. Also it’s really noisy so not ideal for conversations over a dinner but more suitable for cocktails and other drinks.
A really great venue with amazing service, Don was amazing from the second we arrived.
Cocktails were excellent and the food simply amazing. Perhaps slightly expensive but more than worth it !
Nice crowd in the bar and the restaurant.
Will for sure be returning.
The food was excellent, as was the service, very friendly staff. If you are like a lively buzzy bar that isn't full of teenagers and 20 somethings, this is the place for you. We had very good live music to accompany the meal, but it wasn't too intrusive. Will definitely return soon.
