When visiting the restaurant, patrons descend 18 feet underground in a canopied glass elevator, accessed from street level, for a culinary experience unlike any other. The American Steakhouse offers an expansive 1,800 square food subterranean courtyard allowing patrons to ding al fresco and enjoy a New Orleans-inspired exterior space. This cool oasis is complete with a 20 foot, 5-tiered granite water wall, multi-tiered landscaping, lava rock fire pit, and black granite bar. Dakota's below-ground patio has long been considered one of the city's most romantic dining spots.

We believe the best steaks come from the best cut and quality. That’s why we get all of our beef fresh from renowned beef purveyors, Allen Brothers. Each cut is corn and grain fed USDA Prime steak that our chef handpicks. Each steak is aged for a minimum of 28 days for a perfectly tender, juicy bite every time.

It was very loud and noisy at Dakota’s, we can’t even hear live piano music playing in the room. The service was HORRIBLE!! Waiters confused orders, didn’t congratulate our B-day friend (even we remind couple times) and the waiting was too long! And all tips were included in the check, that’s why probably everyone just didn’t care!! Food was good, but you can find similar food with better service in Dallas. Very dissapointed.

Nate was great--like truly great. Will definitely ask to be seated in his section when we come back. My only knock on the whole night is that the Parma, Ham & Burrata does not have the appropriate ham to melon ratio. It needs more melon, and preferably in a form that doesn't require cutting the melon in order to even out the ratio.

Saw this restaurant on IG and read the reviews and wanted to give it a try. Can here for date night on a Monday night and it was quiet and romantic . Brandon, our server was amazing and made our first experience enjoyable . Highly recommend.

We went to Dakotas for a Mother’s Day brunch for a fixed menu. The appetizers were our favorites, especially the shrimp cocktail. For the entree my mom got the lobster omelette and my sister and I got the medium steak. Unfortunately mine came out very well don’t and it was tad frustrating excuse I wasting for over 10 mins for the waiter to let him know, but luckily the manager and I made eye contact at some point and he immediately walked over sensing I needed assistance. I asked if he felt my steak was a medium to their standards and he immediately agreed it was well done and went to the kitchen to bring a medium steak. When he brought the new steak out it was actually pink this time and a a lot better but I personally felt it was more medium well than medium given that it was slightly pink only in the middle this time. Perhaps their scale is different than mine so I won’t hold it against them but I felt overall the food wasn’t worth thr fixed menu, I would much rather come back for their normal menu. Bewitching else was okay, but nothing to feel special about. I left wishing I took my mom elsewhere even though she did seem to enjoy her lobster omelette- I just did not feel the meal felt special or stuck out. The potatoes, salad, and eggs were very basic items that could’ve been better in my opinion. Overall I wasn’t impressed by the fixed menu, but would be willing to come back for the normal menu.

This was a really nice Mother's Day brunch. Balloon bouquet at the door for Mother's and families to take pictures. Free valet was nice. Every mother got a single flower, super sweet. My only issue was that extra tables were packed in the restaurant to accommodate as many people as possible. I could not have a private conversation with my husband because the table were super close to each other. It felt like we were packed in. Our server Louis was super nice and served us very well.

We sat on the outside covered patio and loved that area. It got a bit noisy as the evening went on and it was difficult to hear the pianist but we still loved our table. Food was excellent. Started with the crab cake lollipops. Had cocktails that were delicious. The sommelier helped us pick a great cab to go with my lamb chops and my husband's steak. We had mushroom risotto on the side. A really excellent meal and experience. Service was attentive and on point. Ordered a tiramisu cheesecake to go and had it the following morning. Probably one of the best restaurant dessert I had in a long time. So glad Dakotas is back!!

The steaks were cooked to perfection. Sides are big enough to share for 4 and all are great. Dessert menu was lacking, but they are known for steak. Staff was very attentive and friendly.

Service is great. Staff very friendly and attentive. Great cocktails (pay attention Pappas!). The bone marrow appetizer came out cold - they were very nice about it. Apologized, didn’t charge, offered to replace at no charge. All the stuff you should do. Risotto was more than al dente. When I saw it on the menu I thought, “what a pain in the a$$ for the kitchen”. Apparently it was… This is tickytack, but the broccolini is on the menu as “charred” and it was sautéed and oily. Just not what we expected. Brussels sprouts were fantastic! Steaks were cooked correctly, but my 45 day aged strip was pretty tough and gamy. I’ve had the 180 day aged steak at knife and it wasn’t this gamy. Desert was just plain bad. They either bring it in, or they need a new pastry chef (sorry). We had one bite and headed to the Monarch (amazing). It was an experience, but we will not be back.

We were expecting a better food quality and service for an upscale restaurant such as Dakota’s. Our server did not pay much attention to us after serving the main course. I had to chase him down to bring more water. Also, he informed us that appetizers and main course dishes were supposed to be ordered at the same time because of the small kitchen size. It’s understandable yet it was presented in a strange commanding tone. We spent $1,300 that night, considering the prices, the service should have been exceptional.

My husband and I are in Dallas for business and wanted to try a steakhouse. It was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The restaurant is immaculate. It has a really cool back story that our waiter Henry told us about. Henry was attentive and helpful. We had great conversation. The other staff were also great. Our filet mignons were cooked perfectly. We had mushroom risotto and creamed spinach as a side. The portions were huge. You must try the tater tots for an appetizer. I could have eaten 20! The scoop of homemade I ice cream topped off a delicious meal. We will definitely be back on our next trip.
