Dan Moon at the Gainsborough Ratings and Reviews
Booked to go for my sisters 40th Birthday. We have been before but wanted to take our parents. Again it did not disappoint. Danny Moon is a very talented chef. Incredible flavours, textures and presentation . Every mouthful was a pleasure. Great cocktails too.
We ate here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it is a lovely restaurant. We chose the tasting menu and accompanying wine flight and were not disappointed. The service is excellent too. My only quibble would be that despite booking well in advance and it being a Sunday night (ie not that busy) we were given a table that was not in the nicest location - tucked in around the door. Other than that it was a great evening.
We were staying at the hotel celebrating my fiancé's birthday and it was our first visit to Bath. We'd already read great reviews of the restaurant and having watched Dan Moon on the Great British Menu decided to dine there and head out to the local bars later. We opted for the taster menu with the wine package and weren't disappointed! All the courses were excellent but the amuse bouche, rabbit dish and the scallop / prawn risotto were our favorite. The wine selection was spot on as you'd expect and the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. To end the night we headed to a local whisky bar called Hideout (recommended by the restaurant / hotel staff) which was a great ending to a fantastic evening.
Went to celebrate my partners birthday and from walking through the doors it was instantly welcoming. Great bar staff that really did know every drink possible and a notable Gin specific menu did impress us. Service staff were great and made you feel at ease in a very cosy and intimate dinning area. Excellent food topped off with a good wine suggestion. Would go back anytime!
fantastic experience ..love the drama of the food coming out ..it all came out really quick .i may add we were asked when we wanted every course..
may be next time we will take time to savour all the flavours rather than rushing.
back for the lunch menu soon.
Excellent food, beautifully presented. The roast guinea fowl with stuffed courgette flowers was unusual, whilst the dark chocolate tart with green apple sorbet provided just the right amount of contrasting flavours. The 2 for 1 deal makes this exceptional value. Pricey coffee though!
We visited for Monday lunch and used the two for one three course lunch, which te manager told us is continuing for a couple of moths.
The service is impeccable and the ambience reminded us of Raffles in Singapore.
The food was presented excellently and is delicious - I particularly note the generosity of the cheese and biscuits.
Fabulous, delicious tasting menu enjoyed on a Sunday evening with excellent pairing of wines as we went for the wine flight option. Wonderful evening with attentive staff and excellent ambience. Didn't feel rushed, asked if we would like extra five minutes between courses. The rabbit dish and the scallop were particularly special. Dessert was very rich, probably didn't need such a big portion of chocolate but manages it!
I booked for my parents to go as a birthday present for my mum whilst I went to university. They said it was the best food they had ever tasted and the service was incredible. My mum said they gave her a chocolate plaque which said happy birthday on it, which shows the people here really care. 100% worth the money and journey.
A lovely tasting menu- each course managed to mix the familiar with something a little different to create a wonderful, memorable tableaux of dishes. The accompanying wine flight worked well with the dishes. Service was impeccable-10/10 and we felt very welcome at the restaurant. Will definitely return.
I took my elderly mother, who is disabled ,for lunch as a treat. The staff could not have been more attentive and helpful and chatted to mum as she walked to the restaurant, helping her to her seat. The waiting staff were friendly, knew the menu thoroughly and were able to recommend wine. The food was delicious and the presentation exceptional and we loved the atmosphere in the dining area - not too formal but tranquil and relaxing. We fully intend to pay them a return visit and their dining offer of two for one at lunch is tremendous value.
Fabulous food and very helpful and friendly waiting staff. They found me a bottle of organic, sulphite free wine which was really good. 6 of us had a fantastic meal from the pre theatre menu which was only £35 each for 3 courses! My friends come from London to this hotel.
