Dan Moon at the Gainsborough Ratings and Reviews
What a fantastic birthday lunch for my husband. We love good food, good service and good value, so we were in the right place. We had the weekday 3 course set lunch and it would be hard to find better value. The food was creative - my salmon arrived literally smoking - and was as tasty as it looked. The service was professional and friendly, and they even finished off our meal by giving us truffles with Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. It’s the little touches that make restaurants like this such a treat.
If you’re in Bath during the week and want lunch out, don’t miss out on a chance to go. I can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic experience at Dan Moon. Wonderful food, brilliant wine list and good value considering the cuisine and quality of the wine. Taster menu looked lovely but we went for the a la carte and it was delightful. I had sea bream, my wife the duck and they were cooked to perfection. The service was also impeccable. One of the best restaurants I've been to outside London
This is the first time we have visited the Gainsborough and from the moment we entered the hotel we were made welcome. We were taken to the restaurant and the restaurant staff were faultless. They did not rush us, but nor did they leave us waiting. They were friendly but not intrusive. The food was outstanding and excellent value for a Sunday Lunch. The dishes were well presented and perfectly cooked for our taste. We had the roast beef, which melted in the mouth.
Food is absolutely top notch, with particular recommendation of the tasting menu, so that you can sample as many different courses as possible. The option to pair with the wine flight is a nice addition. All in all, a meal that feels like a special occasion in great surroundings.
We ate from the vegan menu and the food was different, delicious and beautifully presented. The customer service was excellent, we were made to feel like everything revolves around us but at the same time we were not pestered, hovered over or hurried at any time.
We will definitely return.
Booked to go for my sisters 40th Birthday. We have been before but wanted to take our parents. Again it did not disappoint. Danny Moon is a very talented chef. Incredible flavours, textures and presentation . Every mouthful was a pleasure. Great cocktails too.
We ate here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it is a lovely restaurant. We chose the tasting menu and accompanying wine flight and were not disappointed. The service is excellent too. My only quibble would be that despite booking well in advance and it being a Sunday night (ie not that busy) we were given a table that was not in the nicest location - tucked in around the door. Other than that it was a great evening.
We were staying at the hotel celebrating my fiancé's birthday and it was our first visit to Bath. We'd already read great reviews of the restaurant and having watched Dan Moon on the Great British Menu decided to dine there and head out to the local bars later. We opted for the taster menu with the wine package and weren't disappointed! All the courses were excellent but the amuse bouche, rabbit dish and the scallop / prawn risotto were our favorite. The wine selection was spot on as you'd expect and the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant were all very friendly and helpful. To end the night we headed to a local whisky bar called Hideout (recommended by the restaurant / hotel staff) which was a great ending to a fantastic evening.
Went to celebrate my partners birthday and from walking through the doors it was instantly welcoming. Great bar staff that really did know every drink possible and a notable Gin specific menu did impress us. Service staff were great and made you feel at ease in a very cosy and intimate dinning area. Excellent food topped off with a good wine suggestion. Would go back anytime!
fantastic experience ..love the drama of the food coming out ..it all came out really quick .i may add we were asked when we wanted every course..
may be next time we will take time to savour all the flavours rather than rushing.
back for the lunch menu soon.
Excellent food, beautifully presented. The roast guinea fowl with stuffed courgette flowers was unusual, whilst the dark chocolate tart with green apple sorbet provided just the right amount of contrasting flavours. The 2 for 1 deal makes this exceptional value. Pricey coffee though!
