Fantastic food in beautiful rooms, unbelievable value.
Excellent as always. My friend who has a shellfish allergy and was delighted with the cauliflower risotto made especially to go with her sea bream instead of the crab risotto. One tiny thing a little chilly sitting under the air con. Which they did try to lessen for me. My friends were fine though. Always superb bread rolls.
We are regular lunchtime diners and once again the food was a delight and remarkable value for money.
Excellent food combined with great staff results in a fabulous lunch experience. Their current 2 for one lunch menu is exceptionally good value.
I had the 5 course tasting menu with a bottle of wine for my 25th birthday and could not fault the staff and service.
The only criticism I have is that I didn’t like the 2nd course as I didn’t like the uncooked fillet beef, but all the other dishes were delicious, especially the duck and risotto.
Excellent food and service. Lovely ambience. Although busy there was a lovely calm atmosphere in the restaurant. Staff always very helpful and unobtrusive.
Always pleasure to have lunch at the Gainsborough. Food excellent, as is the service, which is attentive as well as being discreet.
Excellent all round
Now been several times
Always first class in every detail
Will be booking again shortly
Amazing all around experience. Wait staff very helpful, friendly, attentive when needed but not in the way. Food was off the charts, from the fresh baked breads (3 types w/3 different butters) onward. My wife even enjoyed the cod which is not a fish she would normally eat. If looking for a nice refined meal in Bath, you MUST GO HERE!
Yet another fabulous meal at the Gainsborough , the food, ambience and service second to none !!!
great value lunch menu, delicate seasonal tastes, good wine list, service professional
After our visit 18 months ago as a treat for our friends 50th Birthday, we were excited to revisit. Food was exceptional as before....the tastes and presentation were exquisite. However, little annoyed that when we all sat down, both my friends had their napkins laid on their laps.... but mine wasn’t . Also, the first bottle of champagne we were served was not cold enough, and the server had to open another one for us.
Other than those 2 minor things, everything else was superb, thank you.
I have visited this restaurant four times since January this year and as well as the good value of two for one lunchtime menu the whole experience has been really good. It is just the place to go for a special occasion with friends or family.
Lovely lunch with friends. Food and service was excellent,
My only negative comment is they have made the menu smaller on the fixed price
Menu, but this won’t stop me from returning.
Impeccable service from lovely staff. Delicious food. The sea bream and crab risotto and the panacotta were sublime but a few of the dishes were slightly off balance for our tastes - being just a little too rich. Wine served at the perfect temperature. Value for money - for the food and service and atmosphere - is absolutely phenomenal.
Absolutely superb 3 course lunch - we couldn’t fault anything - tasted superb and beautifully presented. Service was very friendly yet professional. Definitely going back!!
We had an amazing lunch, both food and wine were outstanding. Staff were very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Can’t wait to return!
Exceptional quality but small portions getting smaller since I started going
As always, absolutely fabulous
Excellent food, beautifully presented and delivered by attentive but not intrusive staff. Great choice of wines to accompany an intriguing menu whose quality is consistently maintained.
Our experience was mediocre. We had the tasting menu which was fine, the chicken tea and scallop dishes were very good. The beef dish should really be called a fois gras dish as there’s so much of it, which made the beef fillet difficult to appreciate. The duck for me was overdone and lacking in flavour. I think the menu description of the courses could have been better. They do offer a tasting flight but having seen duck and beef on the menu, we wanted a glass of red too. We did have to ask a few times for our wine to be topped up as they’d put our bottle in a bucket not near our table. If you’re used to fine dining I think you might be left a little deflated. The staff were pleasant. But I wouldn’t say this was a stand out meal.
Wonderful food. Fantastic service. Lovely glass of Spanish white
Amazing food, lovely staff! Thanks for the special evening.
for a special occasion this is an excellent choice
My girlfriend and I had a truly fantastic experience at the Gainsborough restaurant. Everything from the food, table service, presentation and ambiance was absolutely amazing. The staff were extremely friendly, competent and attentive. The food was incredible and some of the best meals we’ve had countrywide. Food delivery was also very timely. We will be coming back again and both of us would definitely recommend to others.
We had the best experience here today. Food was excellent, we had the 3 course lunch menu and it was perfect - quality food with unexpected pairings but they all worked. They made a raspberry lemonade on request which really should be on the menu - it could not have been better, it was like drinking raspberries. Our waiter was friendly and professional. The place has a unique vibe, very relaxing, somehow smart and laid back at the same time. I couldn't fault anything about our lunch, would highly recommend the place.
Food was good but for the price point I expected a more of a complete dining experience. The dishes where rather safe and classical and didn’t have a big wow factor. The wine pairings didn’t stand out to be the best apart from the last dessert course.
The stand out was the quality of the ingredients used was high and the staff all very good.
Best value high quality lunch in Bath. Food and service both superb
Food was delicious and beautifully presented, excellent value for money. Staff were attentive and polite, will definitely visit again.
Each of the 7 courses were special and whilst having their own twist worked perfectly as part of the whole. The flavours and textures were exquisite. The restaurant is stylish and the staff were fantastic! Already looking forward to coming back!
Excellent service from start to finish. The food was excellent in both presentation and taste.
Amazing service and beautiful setting. The food was amazing. Highly recommend if you are a foodie. We did the 5 course set menu and it was just right.
Excellent mid week lunch at the Gainsborough to celebrate our wedding anniversary . The food was delicious and presented beautifully . The service was attentive but not intrusive and we appreciated the brief description of each dish. The mid week lunch offer is tremendous value for money and allowed us to enjoy fine dining at it’s best. We will definitely return and have recommended Dan Moon to friends and colleagues.
Good food and service. Would definitely recommend.
best sunday lunch i have ever had and i have had a few Paul age 61
Fantastic food and service for an incredible price in the most fabulous setting. Special mention to the Maitre’D.
The food was beautifully presented and the taste matched the presentation. Service was warm, friendly, very professional and efficient. Cocktails both the champagne and whisky were a joy to the palette and very tempting to have more than one. Food price was excellent since there was a 2 for one offer. cocktails and wine were very good but stiffly priced. If only we lived nearer we would be regulars.
Pawel was an amazing host. He is an asset to the company. Absolutely great service and food
We had an excellent family lunch very much enjoyed by us all. Especially by the two Coeliac members of our family. They especially loved the bread and would love to know which gluten free flour was used!! One small thing was the granola gluten free?? A bit of reaction to that otherwise very good. We love it here and hope to return again soon.
Our third visit and again an excellent lunch. Delicious combinations of flavours in each dish with interesting choices.
Thank you for a lovely lunch. Looking forward to the next one
