The Kitfo (an Ethiopian spicy Steak Tar Tar) was fantastic with home-made cheese! The fish and ribs were great though the chicken dish was tasty, the leg was a little dry. Otherwise, everything was good, fresh Injera and even Tej from Ethopia itself and not from the US as you find in other restaurants. Beautiful restaurant in the Easternmost part of Georgetown so it is convenient to the Foggy Bottom Metro station.
Convenient location in Georgetown. We were staying at Four Seasons and it’s across the street from the hotel. We love trying new foods and enjoyed it. My only negative was it’s a little to spicy for me. Great atmosphere and service
The food is good just as the service. The place is in a very nice location. The ambience is a quiet and nice one. The value for the food is great.
Excellent restaurant!!! Great food, kind service, lovely feeling, we envoyed a lot!!
Great food, lovely space, staff very courteous
Great restaurant! This did not make the list of Top Ethiopian restaurants in DC that I had perused so I wasn't sure what to expect but it was terrific!
Food was excellent. I had the vegetarian sampler and my friend had a beef dish. Service was excellent. Dining room is small so it was a bit noisy when all tables were full. Prices were also very good. Highly recommend.
I went to this restaurant during a quick trip to DC. I made a reservation but the hostess couldn’t find it, however she graciously got a table ready for us with little wait time. Our server was so warm and welcoming and even the owner came to us and asked how we were doing. The food was delicious and sooo filling. It was a great experience and I will definitely be back again!
Great Ethiopian food! Every time we visit the city we make sure to have dinner at Das.
I saw DAS featured on the PBS program, "No Passport Required". As promoted, the Ethiopian cuisine, service and atmosphere were excellent. The guest I brought, in celebration of her birthday, is from Ethiopia; she loved the experience. We had a great time and look forward to coming back soon.
Das Ethiopian is a perfect place for a fancier lunch or dinner. I went there with my boyfriend for lunch and the food was amazing. The restaurant was very clean (even the bathroom) and I loved the decor. Highly recommend!
Delicious, flavorful Ethiopian fare in an elegant dining room.
Lovely evening, as always. Quiet ambiance - a charming dining room that looks out on the streets of Georgetown, and very friendly, but not intrusive service. Lamb is a nice new addition to the menu and the vegetarian sampler is always a good choice. One of our favorite restaurants in Washington - very consistently excellent.
We had a reservation for 9:30 pm. At 9:20 I called and let them know I would be 10 minutes late. I was then told that their kitchen closes at 10:00 and that I should order to go. We actually arrived on time and the waitress were clearly not happy to see us there. She guided us to order way too much food for our party, I guess to make worth having us there. Then, immediately after the food was served, they started very noisily organizing and cleaning the other tables. We were still eating and al the employers were ready to leave, with their coats and purses on, looking at us. It was not a pleasured experience.
The food was ok, but not fresh.
Good Ethipian restaurant with all the nice parts of it but also with the limitation of such a restaurant
Excellent food and service ❣️
Great food, great service with a big smile, very affordable, and perfect for a great date night - as always.
Lovely atmosphere with my husband! Definitely worth a return visit!
Food was delicious, service excellent, lovely ambiance, noise level low enough that you can have a conversation. Highly recommend it.
We had a delicious and very special meal. Our children loved everything we ordered. The short ribs were not to be missed. The server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the different dishes and advised us as well.
The food and service are exceptional. Our waitress noticed that one member of our party wasn't eating his dish and she brought him a less spicy meal. Our large, mixed party couldn't have asked for a more attentive sever or better experience.
I really like Das! Not our first time there and won't be the last. The service is great and the food amazing
First time eating Ethiopian food and it was amazing!! Feteya was a great waitress and her recommendations were perfect! We’ll definitely be back. Great food and perfect service- we couldn’t have asked for a better night!
First time eating Ethiopian food and the experience was made easy by Das. Our servers name was Betty and she was very attentive, helped us with the menu and had a great sense of humor. I will most definitely be going back.
Second time visit to DAS. both times we had exemplary service. First time..was our first time having Ethiopian and we were pleasantly surprised. This time we brought 4 other "newbies". The staff was great at making recommendations and all in our party left happy and saying how great the place is. Kudos to me! Thanks for the great experience!
This is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. We always to Das when we are in D.C. It has never disappointed. Great food, great service, great ambiance.
Excellent service. Excellent food.
Wonderful service and very good food.
The four members of my family enjoyed every aspect of the meal. My wife and I split a bottle wine, we had an appetizer and a plit four entrées traditional, Ethiopian, family style. The injera was excellent with more provided as needed. I’m not an expert on Ethiopian cuisine but this was very similar to my previous Ethiopian encounters and equally enjoyed. If I lived in DC, I would frequent Das!
I really first class place, with great food, good service, nice ambience. My only suggestion is they
need a wider range of single malt scotch and bourbon choices. But overall, loved the experience.
I went to Das instead of other ethiopian places in U street or H street because it was described as an "upscale experience" ... But the only part upscale was the white table cloth (covered up by white paper). The service was a bit too lax... we went for periods with empty glasses and dirty dishes on our table for 5 which was only meant to be a 4 top... the injera was also not the large bread at the bottom of the plate. Rather, they were small rolled up pieces that looked like towlettes... But the most important part is the food... We ordered 3 appetizers and 5 main dishes. all the dishes seemed to lack one key ingredient, flavor. ... Everything seemed under spiced as if everything was being cooked for people from New England... It was a bit disappointing.
Excellent! Quaint, quiet, classy dining room in an old Georgetown townhouse. We had never eaten Ethiopian food but thoroughly enjoyed everything. Our waitress was great about giving food recommendations. Didn’t know that the plates are shared and you eat with your hands and a piece of bread, which was unexpected but fun!
I liked this restaurant very much. It was nice to have the opportunity for fine dining service at an Ethiopian restaurant. I liked the short ribs. Well seasoned and tasty. The atmosphere was nice, homey and comfortable with excellent service by the staff. Will have to return to try the lamb which was the other meal I wanted as well.
Great food! Our whole family loved it! Service had a little bit to ask for but was ok.
Perfect experience, outstanding food and amazing service!
Excellent food and service: bravo! My second time, travelling from overseas, a must have stop and a great reward!
Always the best!! You can never go wrong!
Very tasty food. This was my first try at Ethiopian food and I loved it. Much like Indian but with a smokier overall flavor. The atmosphere was casual elegant -jeans and a nice top is fine. It was festive but not loud. We could easily have a nice conversation. One thing that was problematic was the drink menu. It is black on a dark red background with small lettering and was very hard to read in the dim lighting. Overall a fabulous food experience, however. I will return.
