The Food was excellent with something special for each dish. Service was very good with friendly staff. I have to say its a must return place

Hanging bacon, yum. Porterhouse steak for two, tough chew. Wanted to really like the place. Just couldn’t.
We ordered daily special which was a roast pork shank. Very large and very tasty. A Caesar salad was unusual -very little romaine primarily radicchio- was dry and not especially tasty. Usually food is a little better. The house wines were okay - did not think the pinot grigio was up to Burke's usual standards.

The lobster dumplings are fantastic! We had the whole branzino and the "duck, duck, duck". Both were excellent.
Went there for our anniversary. At first we walked into the bar area. I was nervous and wondered “was that it?” Then we were brought upstairs and then felt “that’s more like it”. The staff were friendly and engaging. The food was excellent. Loved the clothesline bacon (you have to see it to understand). The 10oz NY strip was perfect along with a Demi Glacé and fingerling potatoes to round out everything. Kudos to all for contributing to a lovely evening. We loved it.
Food was delicious but portions were small even for Manhattan. Two scallops for a main course!!! It was a price fixed menu so maybe that’s why but I think three scallops would have been more reasonable. Especially because they were so good!!! However, I would definitely recommend! Everyone was so nice!
Waiter was extremely high and extremely slow. It was 40 minutes before we got our first drink. Other than the pace of service/ lack of attentiveness it was very good food and a very very high price. Beautiful restaurant and great place to be.

Excellent in every way. Loved the bacon appetizer, had the steak and duck. All quite good. Too full for dessert. Martinis were damn good.
7 of us from work met for brunch to give our co-worker/friend a send-off. We got the back room with the skylights and the fireplace. Awesome. The half-price champagne was delicious! The food was amazing! My only complaint was that we waited a really really long time for our food. Otherwise, it was stellar and I would definitely recommend. Chicken and waffles!!!
Great food, wonderful service and a cozy spot on the upper east side to dine. LOVE coming here. Never have had a bad meal.
My entrée was duck 3 ways on a bed of confit fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. The duck breast was cooked a tad above medium, but everything tasted fantastic. My friend got the pork chop with clams, rock shrimp and a whole lotta things thrown on top. It was a strange combo and I still don't know how I feel about it. Her pork chop was seasoned well, but a tad over done. The desserts were out of this world. I didn't try her cheesecake lollipops, but heard they were good. I had the hazelnut chocolate cake. One of the layers gave a slight crunchy contrasting texture. It tasted like a ferrero rocher in cake form and definitely made you want to go back for more. Mmmm.
We enjoyed our dinner, but found the service to be quite slow with very long wait times between courses. The waitstaff and hostess were all very courteous and friendly, and the atmosphere was lively if a bit loud.
Charming tavern, comfortable welcoming and the service was great.
Food was incredible! Ambiance was SO cool! We loved the branzino!!! Amazing! Great place! Also love Frank Sinatra’s mug shot in the bathroom. This place is fantastic!!!!!

Great location, warm ambience, nice servers and imaginative delicious food. What’s not to like?
While the food never disappoints (though we miss the popovers), our server was mostly concerned with the loud 8-top right behind us that ordered numerous mixed drinks and bottles of wine. I get it - their bill was clearly in the thousands of dollars while ours was just a few hundred. The women at the table were fawning over him and he spent a ridiculous amount of time with them. But either he should have had help with that table or we should have had another server. We weren’t planning to spend over 2 hours at dinner. We shouldn’t have had to try to get his attention more than half a dozen times just to see about dessert and then the check. The table next to us (same size party)that was seated after us but had a different server received their food more promptly and left before us.
This was my second time at David Burke’s Tavern and I had the best time! We came originally for restaurant week, but when we saw half priced bottles of wine, clothesline bacon, and hipster fries, we added our order. We also had the best server, Marko C, who had us in stitches everytime he spoke. He also made great recommendations when we were stuck on options. We will definitely ask for him by name as it was such a compliment to the wondrous food and drink DBT is famous for!!!
went for restaurant week but will be back for sure. We live walking distance!
Food was medicore. Fries were not crisp. Waffle soggy.
Creative entrees and fun atmosphere
First timers trying it out during restaurant week, it did not disappoint.
My meal was wonderful and my server Steve L made me feel so welcome.
We had Sunday brunch at David Burke Tavern during NYC restaurant week. The restaurant was not full and we didn't have to wait for our table, a lovely spot in a sunny corner. We had eaten at David Burke Kitchen previously and enjoyed it very much. We were disappointed in the Tavern. The drinks were very weak. So weak that I thought they were non-alcoholic. It seems like that's the norm in NYC... I should know better by now. The food was mediocre. I will not go back. I had the fried chicken thigh sandwich. It was literally unseasoned. It was a nice piece of chicken (juicy thigh) but tasted only of fryer oil. The sandwich was supposed to have a gochujang gastrique, but that was nowhere to be found or tasted, and one half of my English muffin bun was burned. My date's "medium" burger was well done. It wasn't cooked well; it was overcooked to "well." The lollypop tree dessert is reliably consistent, clever, and yummy. The chocolate hazelnut cake had a delicious chocolate flavor but no hint of hazelnut. Our waiter was totally inattentive.
If you know David Burke’s prior ventures you will not be disappointed with this one.
You will definitely recognize a few DB favorites.
We really enjoyed the room and the staff was terrific.
The food and service were exceptional. The duck was the best I ever had. The restaurant week was full portions and solid menu and give you little extras. Always impressed by David Burke
I would have given this restaurant straight 5’s if the service was better. When spending at this level the service should match the level of food being served.
The food here is very good and beautiful so if service does not matter to you then you will love this restaurant.
For me, I don’t want to continue to wait for a server or for a glass of wine or for my food. We waited for all 3 and it definitely dropped the level of specialness of this restaurant.
We will try it again and give them another chance but the service was definitely a disappointment.
January 23, 2020 went for Restaurant Week.
I was there several years ago when it was Fishtail by David Burke.
Food is excellent.
The meal itself was worth it, because it was Restaurant week.
But, the service was very slow.
When we walked in, there was only one other group.
About 30 minutes later, other people started to fill the room.
However, we were the last ones served our main course, in the entire room.....
And, the appetizer portions were tiny!
The staff were friendly but the service was just really slow.
