Seated in the back room but not in the private rooms. For some reason the acoustics are very bad and when it started to fill up with other diners it was quite difficult to hold a conversation across the table without raising your voice significantly. Not much they can do about it I know.
Very nice food and wine (as you'd expect) but one of those places that looks busy around 7pm and is empty by 8.30pm. The service was as you'd expect and the food was of a good standard.
Very good service but portions small and the mint tea needed more mint. Simple thing but highlighted the small portion shortfall
Always very good for a business lunch
Great evening very enjoyable service fantastic great choice of wine
Met a work colleague here for dinner and really enjoyed it. It was relatively quiet so we were able to have a really good conversation without the usual hustle and bustle.
Well priced for business lunch, good food, good service.
Service was great but not exceptional, the food was good, a little too fancy for my liking but it tasted good, I was quite shocked that a place like Davy’s didn’t stock Gavi de Gavi but had a decent bottle of Chenin Blanc
Great lunch - the staff were very attentive and friendly.
There was a strong smell of fish when we entered the restaurant for some reason. Service was fine. Food was served quickly and was fine. My friends had the chicken club sandwich which looked nice. I had the crab and prawn linguine which was OK. Not the best I have had. Restaurant is fine for talking which was good.
Good food, friendly service, relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Very pleasant to sit outside on the "terrace" on the rare occasion that the weather is good enough. Service was very prompt despite being outside.
due to its immaculate service -Laura, George and their hard working colleagues deserve credit-, solid menu and City-style atmosphere.
Laura and her colleagues deliver great service and take note of the customers' needs. For me, it is the place to be for my business lunches. In summary, speedy and attentive service, tasty food and pleasant atmosphere make Davy's Plantation Place a spot-on choice for City business meetings over lunch.
Good food, City atmosphere and excellent service- Laura and her team make sure that our business lunches are smooth and enjoyable
Menu not very big but what we had was tasty and served with a smile
Everything about this experience was ok apart from the open table booking which they simply didn't have. Once I proved it to them by showing my confirmation email they said "oh yes, you are upstairs" and then took us to a large private dining room. Our party was 5 people and they say is at a table for about 12 in a room with no music and no atmosphere. It wasn't even decorated for Christmas.
We asked to move so they took us back downstairs to another private dining room. This was smaller but still too big for our small party. It was also freezing cold. We complained a second time and eventually got moved into the main restaurant which was fine.
Once all that was over everything was fine. The service was good, the food and drinks were good and the atmosphere good.
Just a shame they had lost our booking.
Can't really fault Davy's. It isn't exceptional, but it certainly serves up a very good business lunch and the food, service and price cannot really be criticised (if you ignore the rather insignificant issue that I did have to chase up my wine order!).
I never book online as I worry about the fact of not actually speaking to someone, however I booked online on this occasion and got an email confirmation saying so. I was taking a client also. Low and behold, my booking had not been received by the restaurant which led to a very awkward couple of minutes whilst the staff organised us a table in the bar(thankfully it wasn't busy)...The table was wobbly and not ideal to be seated in the bar area but it was that or face an even more awkward moment that we didn't actually have a table booked!!!
The staff were helpful of course, however, not sure what would have happened had the restaurant actually been busy!!
I will not be using Open Table again....
As a branch of Davy`s you expect a solid wine list and their own generic wines are very good. As they have put more focus onto food over the years, it is of consistently high quality .
very helpful and friendly waitress . Could not do enough for us.
Very disappointing as have been here many times. We ordered three Kirs and asked three more times before both waiter and barman admitted they did not know what they were!! One of our party ordered a ploughmans which arrived with a number of key ingredients missing with no explanation or price reduction. Very poor and no excuse in a busy city restaurant with an undoubted high turnover. Will avoid in the future
Frequent this place quite a bit. It's convenient for working lunches with good if not adventurous food coupled with swift service meaning that you you're not late for your next appointment.
Good food, quick service well looked after thanks. Will definitely return
Last minute reservation, accommodated well. Steak was well cooked and hot when served. Recommend for business lunches, can get busy so good atmosphere
We come here a lot as its close to work. Quality of food is good, portions are of a good size and its value for money. Service can be a slow when busy but overall its a great place for a quick lunch or long lunch!
