The Daylesford experience is always excellent. We enjoyed seeing the new Legbar which has been added this year and the restaurant looked very festive and was the only place we have eaten out in for ages so really helped us get in the Christmas mood!
Really fresh quality produce. Great atmosphere!! Layout of the restaurant was beautiful.
Delicious food with vegetarian options, lovely bar area for pre dinner drinks with fire. Well looked after by the staff and compliments to Chefs.
Wasn’t very keen on the main menu so asked if we could have a pizza which we were told yes. Waitress lack of charm and not that helpful. Table not wiped down mid meal but that may be Covid rules. Beer choices minimal and one sold out. It was a place to meet half way but really nothing special. Felt that given the layout of the restaurant the other party of 4/5 could have been sat further away from us and not on table behind us. Lack of charm
Fantastic food, wonderful setting and amazing service
Delicious food in a beautiful environment. Highly recommend on you visit to the Cotswolds! Do not miss the Chocolate Nemesis for dessert.
Lovely evening, drinks in bar, dined in main restaurant, really nice service - best of all the food was outstanding. Thanks to Chef.
Lovely evening with delicious food! Very nice staff too!
Usually I love Daylesford and it is a treat to go there, however this dinner meal was thoroughly disappointing. Really limited evening menu and even then they didn’t have all the ingredients and the substitutes were poor. We were brought things we said no to and were then charged for them. Overall it was not good value for money. I would go back but only for brunch/lunch.
Fabulous as always! Fantastic, organic, locally sourced food, friendly service, beautiful location.
Great seasonal food. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Fantastic food and a lovely atmosphere in the evening
We had an amazing and safe dinner at The Trough on Friday night! The staff was friendly and extremely attentive. The food was outstanding. 5 stars all around!
Get the chocolate for dessert. You won’t be disappointed!
Wonderful experience. Waiting staff were very attentive and polite. Good was insanely good. My venison was bloody gorgeous. Will be back!
The venison was excellent and the chocolate desert was to die for. Very attentive service and well distanced tables.
Daylesford is a remarkable place. If you love Good food, especially Organic then this is the place to go.
Service was excellent.
Always try to visit when in the area.
Had a lovely meal here! The staff were all very accommodating as both myself and my partner are vegetarian so they kindly adapted their existing dishes for us. We also enjoyed a few drinks afterwards in the Leg Bar which was also lovely and cosy.
Lovely ambiance. Very friendly staff who made you feel very welcomed. Gorgeous location! Looking forward to the next time !
Food was average. Nothing special.
Service was really bad. Not attentive.
Only three tables and it took 15 minutes for someone to come to.our table.
And then her question was "Flat or fizzy?".
The shop is one hundred times better than the restaurant. Hands down
Have been numerous times to the Trough and enjoyed our meal. No doubt due to the current situation the restaurant was quiet and the menu appeared to be a little more condensed. The crispy lamb was delicious but the flat iron chicken was a little dry which we really should have brought to their attention but the chocolate nemesis made up for it! There is no doubting that the ambience is relaxed and the staff attentive. Have recommended the restaurant to friends and family and look forward to our next visit.
Personally, I would say don’t worry too much about the negative reviews. The restaurant is doing its best to be viable in a Covid situation so has a reduced menu but what we ate was good. Gazpacho and burrata great for starters, steak, chicken and pork all great for main - the rub on the steak was quite spicy which we loved but one of our party asked for it without which was accommodated without a problem. Really generous portions of sides - the tomato salad was fantastic, We literally just came back from Sicily where the tomato’s are amazing and it compared well! Chocolate cake was also amazing- the portion was huge so we took half of it home! Obviously like everywhere the ambience is not what it would usually be because of reduced covers to be Covid compliant - everything felt clean and safe and the service was good. The food was simple but it was good, I would go back.
Lovely evening meal in a superb location. The service was very good and the food delicious. Their attention to detail was appreciated and great care was taken to leave plenty of room between tables. Also there was hand sanitizer on every table.
Booked last minute, and we were very pleasantly surprised. I thought this would be the sort of place you’d usually go after a spa day (which they also have on site), and it’s very casual, but in the evening, it was actually a beautifully lit, ambient room with beautifully simple and organic food. Love the Daylesford farm shop, and it’s no surprise that the restaurant also followed through. Thank you to our lovely waiters, too. P.S. coffee is great and try the Chocolate Nemesis!
I had such high hopes for this place but it was In all quite disappointing to be honest. The place is stunning and promises a lot with it’s organic produce but I have to say it failed to deliver. My husband had the steak, it looked a bit sad and came with no choice of sauce (as it had some sort of jerk rub on it) there seemed to be a few “jerk options”. My pulled beef bap was more like the beef you get in stir fry and lacked flavour. It came with a slaw which was all mixed in with the beef which I wasn’t expecting. Both our salads were pretty much the same (his just had a dressing on it). It felt like the menu was designed to be very quick and easy to make rather than amazing tasty food. There were only 2 dessert options and one was a vegan cheesecake which wasn’t great. In all it’s a shame as the place has great potential and looks amazing but the whole menu needs a shake up. On a positive note the cocktails were delicious.
Excellent food, beautifully presented and v pleasant and helpful staff. Was a little noisy with v small children for first few minutes but we had deliberately booked a table for 8 and it did quieten v quickly. Service was excellent and v helpful staff in beautifully understated surroundings.
Lovely space, ingredients were fresh but steak wasn’t hot by the time it was served and service was not great
Very relaxed evening in a lovely environment and great food. Thankyou
Lovely dinner with bbq cooked to perfection and lots of trash and tasty vegetables, always top quality
Service was excellent. Food was good, but not great. Ambience was fantastic.
Good food service and value-what else can one ask for?
Absolutely lovely evening meal, excellent food all staff knowledgeable and very friendly
Can’t understand why there are negative recent reviews, we would definitely return when in the area.
Delicious food in great surroundings, friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. The salads were amazing and the meats were tender and mouth wateringly good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful venue and location. But it ends there as with all Daylesford the food tastes and looks like a fat loss Bootcamp. There is no love in the food and no butter or olive oil - also there’s an attempt to provide multicultural cuisine such as “jerk” pulled beef but this has no resemblance to the original.
Food was superb, the restaurant and bar are both stunning and the service was brilliant. Best place I’ve been in a while, would certainly recommend.
The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, reasonable choice of good quality food. Would definitely go back and they only thing that let is down was that one of the waitresses wasn't as attentive as she could have been. For example we had to ask another server to take our pudding order as she had forgotten about us.
We were going to eat outside as it looked so attractive out there, but because it was slightly windy we decided to eat inside. The seating was very comfortable.
The evening menu is limited for obvious reasons but the sea bass was outstanding and lamb excellent. Also the chocolate dessert was delicious.
Food was good and came in good time. Service lacked any connection and we felt like they want us to finish quickly and leave. Value was average considering the food. Will be back but not rushing.
Sat outside in the beautiful courtyard, tables were more than appropriately spaced out. Food was excellent, bbq mains came with potatoes and two salads; very fresh and tasty. Service could have been a little more attentive.
Really beautiful atmosphere, amazing outdoor setting and really good quality food.
