Daylesford - The Trough Organic Restaurant
Daylesford is one of the most sustainable farms in the UK. We want to grow, farm, produce and sell food in harmony with the environment.
We also have farmshop and café locations in Brompton Cross, Marylebone, Notting Hill and Pimlico in London, please visit daylesford.com for more information.
This revamped venue has lots of potential to be a fabulous night out in the Cotswolds...great organic food served by a great team with music and ambience to match...loved it x
Menu with few dishes to choose.
Spicy food in general.
The meringue cake we had was hard and sticky, not recommended
Daylesford organic farm is absolutely stunning. Beautiful setting and the shop is wonderful, filled with delicious (if expensive) fresh and organic produce. We went to the the Trough Organic Restaurant for dinner and unfortunately the food simply wasn't up to scratch. the Lamb shoulder was decent, but slightly dry and lacked flavour - the sides of veggies were delicious though, benefit of being on a farm! The rib-eye was overcooked, requested medium rare but received close to well done. The fish was decent, cooked perfectly but poorly seasoned. The stewed veg that it sat on was delicious however, if also a bit under seasoned. The chocolate nemesis dessert was to die for - highly recommend! The blueberry cheesecake was ok, as was the meringue with cream and fruit.
While there were nice bits to the meal and the service was exemplary, unfortunately the food was not up to scratch, especially given how expensive the meal was. Hope they improve the food because, the ambience and the feel of the place is incredible!
Sun was out so we ate in the Courtyard, by The Legar. Food was excellent, as always and there was a good buzzy vibe, with the place full and the sun shining.
Wonderful ambiance, great attentive staff, excellent drink choice all let down by cooking quality of food, small portions and high cost.
I ate here twice whilst on holiday. I'm not sure if I just chose the wrong things from the menu, but wasn't blown away by any of the dishes I ate. The service is good, but felt the food could have been do.much better
Lovely atmosphere , dj was playing great music but at a nice level over dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent !
Drinks first in The Legbar, followed by supper in The Trough - Always excellent. Love Daylesford.
A beautiful location in the Cotswolds that has a lovely ambience. The food & service were both outstanding
Great vibe in the Legbar and the staff were outstanding.
Food delicious and seasonal as expected, as were the wines.
Ambiance in the Trough could be better- we were seated near the serving area despite the restaurant not being at all full.
Delicious and original food, everything was superb and the service was great too
Background music good. I had a pitza which was excellent with a thin base. The other two diners had the slow cooked rib of beef. So tender it fell off the bone.
We visited when it was quiet but there was still a great, relaxed ambience. Very attentive, enthusiastic service. Food was lovely...quite expensive and small portions; presumably paying for the provenance of the ingredients. Great cocktail menu too!
Great night again
Drinks in Legbar first. Just fab. Then supper for 6 of us in The Trough. Just great. Always !! Never fails. And I’m here for lunch again today !
Delicious food and first class service in a beautiful setting. A prefect Friday night dinner. Thank you Daylesford team!
The restaurant area is lovely and menu looks great but the terrible delay in getting any food to the table and finding staff sadly ruined what should have been a lovely evening.
Fabulous. Great evening. Legbar is special. Food in The Trough is always excellent.
The food is excellent but the service was not good at all. We’d booked a table for dinner. Arrived, confirmed we’d booked on arrival, went to the bar for a drink and basically got forgotten about. Nobody came to take our drinks order or offered us the dining menu or came to take us to our table later on. We had to ask for absolutely everything, even for water on the table. The waiters were completely inattentive. Ours brought us the bill and then left as we were waiting to pay. We could have left too at that point. Not sure anybody would have noticed. But we decided to call someone over so we could pay. Such a shame. We’re local. We love Daylesford and eat here for brunch / lunch quite a lot. Dinner service really needs to improve. Does not match the quality of the food or the prices.
Cocktails great. Service excellent. Food delicious.
The vegetarian risotto was too large + no other vegetarian options offered until desserts when we were told we could have had the old spot menu also! We still had a lovely time + the legbar was great.
We were there again on Saturday. Food was amazing ! Service impeccable and now with The Legbar cocktail bar, pre-dinner drinks are a must ! Daylesford evolves and when you think it can't get any better, it just does.
Fabulous night out !
Excellent food with exceptional service in very relaxing surrounds
Always seriously good. Now with The Legbar it’s even better. The Legbar is a stunning bar and the perfect place to drop by for a drink with Daylesford nibbles............ Daylesford just evolves and evolves, getting better and better. Attention to detail - always. Love Daylesford.
I booked this table several weeks ago with the view of us having an oven baked pizza at The Old Spot. When we arrived the staff didn't seem sure we'd even made a booking. The Old Spot was closed for refurbishment and we were shown into their other restaurant where there were no pizza's on the menu. Nobody had contacted me prior to us turning up to let us know of these restaurant changes. We ordered an antipasti of Italian cured meats which came with no breads, olive oil, olives - it was just a few slices of meat. They kindly found some frozen pizza's. I asked for a green salad to accompany them which either never arrived or was the few rocket leaves put on top of a luke warm pizza.
I was disappointed the first time I visited this restaurant but gave it second chance - I won't be giving it a third, nor recommending it.
This place is magical, the atmosphere, the food, the people... I can't wait to go back ♥️.
Always great. Food & service are great. Love Daylesford.
Dinner menu quite limited, however food was outstanding. Chicken in coconut sauce sublime. The dressings on sides were mouth wateringly good. Wine choice a little disappointing sadly. Service attentive and warm. Have booked again.
We were really looking forward to our meal at Daylesford but oh what a disappointment :( Firstly the starter - I ordered winter vegetables with a cheese fondue. What I got was winter vegetables with a blue cheese dip! If you use the word fondue to describe something then surely it should be a warm melted cheese. Then I ordered chicken satay - what I got was chicken with a satay seasoning. The word satay means on a skewer?! But then the worse happened this came with 2 salads and I thought the salad was a little gritty but I feared with it until the stone!!!! Yes a stone in my salad - now thats organic :( I wasn't impressed at all.
Lovely environment and food do fresh it squeaks! Smallish healthy menu so food always at its peak. Wonderful attentive staff.
Always a delight, everything is delicious, everything is healthy. Something for everyone and everyone is happy. Nothing to think about, simply the best!
I had the roasted chicken with lentils and kale salad. The salad was so crisp and fresh. It was perfectly dressed. The lentils were delicious but were not beluga lentils as described.
Great food and service - nice selection of local organic fare
Very good food and a nice atmosphere. Come and enjoy fresh produce.
We love Daylesford Farm in Notting Hill and decided to stop at the actual farm. Beautiful location, the store is amazing but what a disappointment was our dining experience compared to the one in a London.
The staff was unfriendly, not attentive and unhelpful especially the manager.
We were served the wrong cocktails that the waiter himself could not figure out.
We ordered the grilled apricot dish as a starter and were served nectarines instead that were as hard as rocks and not roped. We were not told apricots were not available. The ribs were dry and flavorless and we skipped dessert because we were just so disappointed.
We will go back to shop and have a coffee but not dine again.
Had an early dinner here on bank holiday Saturday with my partner and 4yo son. You get to the restaurant by walking through the fabulous farm shop and deli which really whets your appetite with lots of delicious looking produce on show. We were sat away from the main restaurant along with another group with young kids which was fine - the lower tables in the ‘greenhouse’ area were more suited to little ones than the tables with stools in the other area. Service was fine, polite and fairly friendly. Food arrived fairly quickly and menu choices good especially with the additional specials on offer. You really can taste the difference in quality and freshness due to the home-grown produce and the food is kept relatively simple to let the authentic flavours shine through. Good selection of drinks. My only thought would be it would have been nice to have some choices specifically for kids as we didn’t feel like ordering a 4yo a £18 main was sensible in terms of portion size so we ended up giving him a combination of starter and bits off our plates. Other than that very pleasant.
Daylesford is a wonderful place and being able to dine here is quite special. The food is a little pricey but worth it for the ambience and quality. It is refined and relaxing, highly recommended.
We eat once a week at the Old Spot and have done so for years. Consistently good food and great service in besutiful surroundings.
