Chef Daniel Boulud’s db bistro moderne is a contemporary French restaurant, known for chic bistro cuisine. The menu features updated bistro classics with a modern twist and market-driven French-American cuisine, alongside traditional French specialties and seasonal dishes showcasing the Greenmarket’s finest produce.

Located one block east of Times Square in New York City, db bistro is the perfect spot for pre- and post-theater dining, a Midtown business lunch or breakfast “à L’Express”. Happy hour specials offered daily from 3-6pm.

It was here that Daniel Boulud launched the gourmet hamburger craze in 2001 that took the world by storm. The DB Burger, stuffed with red wine-braised short ribs and foie gras, continues to be a main attraction.

Our handsome bar area features a seasonal menu of dishes that can be enjoyed with exceptional wines and cocktails.

It's been many years since I last went to db Bistro. Although I have great memories of db Bistro in its heyday, this restaurant is so evidently in decline. The service was lax and uneven, the food was underwhelming. The vaunted db Burger was served cold and overcooked, despite a medium-rare request. My companion chose the Steak Frites, which was passable but fell short of expectation. Very sad to lose a place I enjoyed so much in the past.

Very pleasant overall, wonderful carrot soup, excellent Brussels sprouts salad, pate de compagne disappointing, but overall a very pleasant experience, lovely atmosphere. We were a group of four and all were very pleased with our overall experience. Noise level was acceptable, especially since the restaurant was completely filled.

Post show dinner that was relaxing with excellent, attentive service from Charles without hovering. Roasted Brussels sprout salad, coq su vin & branzino were great.

Third time there and it is consistently good. This visit was during pre-theater time, so was a bit noisier than usual. Every dish prepared perfectly, staff is warm and obliging. Great bartender, too.

We had a fabulous meal, service was wonderful! We will certainly go back. Our only criticism is that the tables are very close together so we’ll ask for a table in a certain location. A great dining experience

Fabulous as always, EXCEPT the burger with short ribs & fois gras was not quite as tasty as previous times. Don't know why. All the other food was superb.

Our service was excellent. We were there for lunch before the theater, the brussels sprout salad I had was definitely the best I’ve ever tasted. Everything else was great as well.

Hot Tip: Come for brunch, order the madeleines, and eat them while they are still warm from the oven. You can't go wrong with anything else. We like the omelet (cooked to perfection, the French way) and eggs benedict (with luscious French ham). You're welcome.

The food was amazing along with service. Everyone was friendly from the hostess to the waiters - felt like they really care about their customers.

We went during restaurant week and the brunch on the weekend is part of restaurant week which is great because not a lot of restaurants offer that. There were plenty of choices to choose from appetizer, main entree and dessert unlike other places that offer only 3 choices. Had the burger which this restaurant is known for and it was pretty good, unique taste but a must try!

Really enjoyed my experience at db moderne. Food was Delicious and freshly prepared. I had the brussel sprout salad and french toast on the restaurant week brunch menu. Service very attentive but not overly so. Comfortable environment.

Hot Tip! During Restaurant Week, db Bistro moderne offers three courses from their regular menu for only $42! There are upcharges for some dishes (sole muniere, db burger), but there are so many other fantastic db classics to choose from, such as the coq au vin and the steak frites. The food and service were as excellent as ever. The only difference we noticed was that the speed with which our dishes arrived from the kitchen was a little faster than we've had on all our previous visits. Overall, this was yet another outstanding meal at db, which never disappoints.

Dined with party of 6 on last night of Restaurant Week. Octopus salad was nicely dressed but octopus was a bit tough. Branzino was delicious. Server was very pleasant and was able to suggest wines to accompany entrees.

I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal at a Daniel Boulud restaurant. We have most frequently dined at Café Boulud and this was a first at dbModerne. While it was Restaurant Week, a time when the menu choices are limited in most places, and too many of the dishes are being served to have them show a lot of care in preparation, that was not at all the case here. The choices were wide and the preparation was exquisite, with a friendly and highly competent service. And, we got to see Daniel himself. Good job!

My friend and I both agreed the Brussels sprout salad was one of the best things we have ever eaten!!! Staff was very attentive and several people came over to see if we were enjoying our lunch.
