Our server, Iva was delightful, competent & cheerful. We had a wonderful experience. Food was a bit overpriced but well prepared.
Great food ambience felt awkward since the restaurant was pretty much empty ...
salad was terrible and overpriced. avocado was brown.
Excellent. Great service and open window to patio is lovely.
Server was not great, food was excellent.
Food is consistently delicious. Wait staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Love sitting outside.
We have eaten well here in the past, but we just had a really disappointing experience. Slow service, banal food and - while there were lots of staff - no interest in trying to provide a positive experience and fix the problems that were noted. A shame.
Laura, the bartender is always welcoming and her drink recommendations are spot on. The avocado toast and the burger are delicious.
Great lunch for a recruitment event.
The restaurant was empty for an 8:30 reservation on a Saturday night, which was a bit odd, but we figured we'd have the place to ourselves. The food was good, but nothing amazing that I would need to order again. The main issue was our server. I think she must have been new because she wasn't very familiar with the menu, brought us the wrong appetizer, presented the wine to my husband and had him try it even though I ordered it, and didn't ask basic questions (like how we wanted our $115 tomahawk steak done). Better service would have made for a better experience.
Wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The meal is mediocre for the price. The best part was the warm bread and butter at the beginning of the meal. The steak frites was overpriced, the lettuce that accompanied the meal was brown and the French fries did not come out hot.
The halibut tastes fresh but the accompanies sauce was bland. Edible but could have been more favorfull.
Waitress was very attentive, and we enjoyed new spins on old favorites.
Great service, wonderful food!
My friend and I both had the steak frites. Overall the experience was terrific as always, but my steak was not quite well done as I had requested.
Love this place for its express lunch. A friend and I do a monthly lunch at DBGB for that reason.
The staff was very cordial to two visibly senior women -- a bit slow, but it was a busy night. Our starters were fine, the souffles to die for, and my guest liked her scallop entree very much. The duck breast entree, however, was at best medium when I was assured of medium rare [and would have preferred rare,] and it was almost cold -- waiting on a shelf for the scallops, perhaps?? Worst of all, it had very little flavoring [not even salt,] and nothing remotely resembling the menu's claim of 'Singapore style.' Maybe a sauce or coulis of some sort had been neglected in the kitchen?? I should have sent it back, but didn't want to wait for a substitute when we'd already been there over an hour. Bring on the soufflee!
The service was impossibly slow and many of our orders were not cooked as requested.
We had reservations and opted to sit at the bar. The bartender did not acknowledge us for atleast 10 minutes . When we inquired about the 3 course family style dinner , he was extremely rude and said he had worked there since November and had not heard of that. We said it was on the website and he walked off rolling his eyes. Needless to say we left and will not be returning.
We arrived early and had drinks and appetizers at the bar. The drinks arrived quickly and we had Escargot and oysters that were very flavorful. Once seated our server was prompt and helpful. The entrees (Breast of Chicken; Steak Frites) were cooked to perfection. Finished with a cappuccino (mama bear temperature), port dessert wine and the Citron. Outstanding in every way, we highly recommend DBGB.
The special bar cocktails were creative and very good; plus, the food selections and recommendations were the best. Great time, drinks and food.
Duck and Lamb dishes were outstanding.
Couldn't remember when was the last time we had to wait this long for our food to come. I ordered a lobster roll and my husband ordered a plate of sausages and pates, neither required a lot of time to prepare. But it took almost 40 minutes to arrive and in-between our server was nowhere to be seen. After the meal we thought we'd share a dessert. We specifically asked the server if we had to wait long, he said no. Then he dropped the dessert menu and disappeared again. During the entire time we were there, the restaurant was only half full. So too busy was not a good excuse for bad service. We ended up forgoing the dessert and left. That said at least the food was fair, not a complete disappointment. But will not return ever.
We have enjoyed the Cafe Boulud in Palm Beach, more elegant and formal and wasn't expecting as much of the bistro-like environment, but every dish was equally nuanced and superb. The salmo had a gentle crust and was sent on a petit pea bed of delicious sauce. The steak as nice and the fries were good, but not spectacular. The lamb porterhouse was a reasonable size and wonderfully flavorful and tender. The choice of appetizers was small, but all were delicious, including the crab cake, sugar snap peas, and baby gems. All dressings were gently flavored. We were seated in the larger room away from the bar but as the evening passed it became so loud we could not have a conversation any longer. The decor is very "bisto-esque" a little dark but pleasant and the booths are large enough for 4. For what it is, a bistro, I would say it is the analogue to its more formal restaurant. Other than the noise, in which case I'd eat early, it was wonderful. (I forgot to mention the wonderful crusty bread-- but it needed a larger pat of butter!)
Drinks and wine all excellent. Service pleasant, a little slow toward the end of the evening as it became crowded. I'd go back any day!
My food was very good although I ordered my burger medium and it was really well done. I did not have time to wait for another. My server, who was the bartender was lovely, he checked on me often enough, even though I was at a table (not the bar) and was friendly and accommodating. He gets 5 stars. The host staff was cold to the point of being kind of rude. When I checked in the host seemed bothered I was there and was not even remotely friendly. Another host was there when I left and did not even look up to thank me or say good bye. Bad first and last impression.
Great food. Scallop was sweat and buttery. Tomahawk steak was immense and perfectly cooked. The raw apps (tuna and tartare) both excellent. Service was top notch, the chef came OT and talked with us for about 6 minutes was a great touch.
Had a wonderful night out for my birthday at DBGB! The menu was a fresh take on classic French favorites. Our table was ready as soon as we arrived, and no time was wasted getting us our menus, and bread for the table. Our server was friendly and attentive for our entire visit. To start, we shared the escargots, and were brought chilled asparagus soup compliments of the chef. Our entrees were the Singapore Duck and Dayboat scallops. Both were delicious, and we cleaned our plates.
They graciously brought out a dessert of my choice on the house. The strawberry rhubarb cheesecake was the perfect blend of sweet and tart. Bonus - they make a great cup of coffee. We will definitely be back to try brunch some time!
Was good food but horrible presentation and incredibly overpriced. The lobster salad was embarrassing. Drinks were beautiful and delicious though
The food was great but the service was not. I asked for some coffee and beignets to start. The server never came to check if we needed a refill. Obviously he was more busy with his next table of 8 next to us. The table has not been cleaned before our entrees were served. We had small plates, my coffee mug and the beignet dish . My husband ordered eggs Florentine with Crab cakes. No Crab cakes came with his eggs. We were feeling abandoned. I love the Daniel Boulud’s restaurants and I was disappointed with this brand experience in DC.
Great food and great service. Went for mother’s day brunch. Will definitely try for dinner next time.
I went here for Mother’s Day brunch and everyone was so welcoming and so kind. Not to mention, the food was amazing & our waitress was extremely attentive. I will be returning and recommending friends & family.
I walked in the door because it’s Daniel Boulud. I stayed because it was delicious and perfect. Service befitting a neighborhood brasserie, too. The front room, where our party of 5 ate, had energy with the bar, but it wasn’t overwhelming. In all, it was just the right place to have a group of friends around a table.
We went here for dinner and was seated at a table close to the bar. Very comfortable. The wine selection was good. A number of French wines of good quality. Had a pea soup which was very smooth but a little herbal. The escargot was very tasty and I would recommend it. The star however was the duck entree. Duck confit rice with very tender duck breast. It was extremely delicious.
Great service. Satisfying meal.
We had requested to be seated in a location towards the back because we had a group of 9. When we arrived we were seated in the front in a more crowded area. The hostess was very accommodating and friendly and immediately arranged for other seating in our requested location. Our waiter was so-so. The food was good, but the menu was limited.
First and foremost, restaurant is in the City Center in the heart of Downtown DC and was walking distance from our hotel. Wait Service was great although the initial look by the hostess when we were carrying our baby in was of confusion as this is a restaurant not frequented by many families with younger children (I assume). Once we were sat down, we were kindly greeted and placed our orders in. After the complimentary bread loaf starter, we had our scallops, Singaporean Chicken and Blue Crab Spaghettini with our sides of asparagus and mixed mesclun salad. All of the Food was great, even the salad was a nice mix of textures. Beer and wine selections were also very good but I stuck to the ones I knew. And to the two individuals who moved tables right when we sat down with a baby...sorry for causing you to move. If you had kids, you would understand families still like to eat out at restaurants too
I enjoyed the location and service. The waitstaff was lovely and attentive. The food was average. I had the Eggs Florentine over a crab cake. It was forgettable.
The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. To start, we split a delicious tuna tartare, then one had the blue crab spaghettini and the other the halibut. To finish the meal we shared a cheese course. A good meal was turned into a memorable experience thanks to the attentiveness of the sommelier and his thoughtful suggestions.
Overall visit from service to food was great. I definitely recommend DGBG as a great place to eat.
