We look forward to serving you soon!
Very good dinner in a cozy, comfortable setting in the heart of the Jordaan. The 3-course prix fixe menus is a great value. We will be back!
This is a neighborhood gem. The ambiance is casual, friendly and relaxed. The service is friendly and sincere about your experience. The food is really good. I had an excellent steak and my daughter had the scallops. Their bread is also very fresh. There were mostly locals dining the night we went. We hope to visit again soon.
Food was great. A bit pricey for the portion but I suppose that’s how it usually goes.
Great restaurant with good prices. My wife and I both had the price fixed 3 course dinner and it was worth it. They were very helpful with accommodating my wife's gluten free needs. I had the venison steak and it was great. Dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine was less then 100 euros. Tome, that is good value.
Excellent restaurant ! The food was amazing. Local feel, not touristy, and an owner that cares about service and experience. Scallop appitizer was amazing! Must try.
We had a great experience. Very nice ambience. Exceptionally welcoming staff. Food was delicious and fair priced. I would definitely come back!
Gemütlich. Man könnte noch viel mehr aus dem Thema Sägerei herausholen, vor allem bei der Dekoration.
Easily the best food I have had this year and I go to quite a lot of restaurants. I came back the very next day.
Amazing food, and unbelievable value
The owner and his son were delightful and the ribs were the best I’ve ever had! The vegetable ravioli special was pretty amazing too!
Great scallops and lamb. Fondue too. Price fix menu appreciated.
Found this spot at the last minute, and had a great meal
Alles war bestens, immer wieder!
Toller Service, gutes Essen und schönes Ambiente
The Sawmill is a cut above. Interesting mustard soup, wonderfully prepared salmon, and luscious asparagus. Highly recommend although not for the ambiance. But don’t be frightened aware by its lack. The foods is splendid!
Though the server was very pleasant, they forgot my wine order despite it being a table for 1. By the time I remembered I was already part of the way through my main so I decided not to say anything. Thankfully it wasn't on my bill so no problem there.
I ordered the 3 course special - 3 items from the menu for just over €30. Pretty good value for money. I ordered the Croquettes (great), the rack of lamb (very basic and under seasoned), and the house-made tiramisu (excellent). All in all I left underwhelmed, and, frankly, disappointed I didn't use my one night in the city to eat elsewhere.
My wife and I recently had an incredible dining experience at De Zagerij in Amsterdam.
•The restaurant, filled with locals (a perfect endorsement) was a bit off the beaten track in the Jordaan neighborhood.
•The ambiance in the restaurant was just right, enormous skylights and hanging candle lighting.
•The staff was authentically welcoming, friendly, attentive and engaging. We felt like one of the locals.
•The menu offered plenty of options for anybody’s taste – using the best local ingredients in thoughtfully prepared dishes. I started with the soup of the day: mushroom. The preparation conveyed the essence of the local mushrooms – both as the base for the broth and the pieces that were generously distributed in the large bowl. My wife ordered one of the menu’s “Newcomers”, Veal oyster with a puree of celeriac, shitake mushrooms, veal gravy and French fries - “gravy” on the side. The veal tasted wonderful (we always share tastes of our dishes), with and without the sauce. The pureed celeriac with shitake mushrooms was a perfectly exquisite accompaniment. I was intrigued by two pork dishes listed in the “Classics” portion of the menu: Satay of Pork Tenderloin with atjar, prawn crackers, fried onions and fries; and the house-marinated spare ribs with aioli, sweet chili sauce and French fries. Upon the recommendation of our server I went with the spare ribs - something I wouldn't have thought to order in Amsterdam. They were some of the best that I’ve ever had; perfectly cooked. The marinade and two dipping sauces were unique – wonderfully different from anything I’ve ever had in the US. The red wine and local beer were perfect beverages.
Only our “sweet-tooth” still required attention. We ordered and devoured Apple pie from the "Kuyt" patisserie with vanilla ice cream. It was the best we had during our travels.
•Lest I forget, the portions were large and the pricing was reasonable for Amsterdam.
We highly recommend De Zagerij to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
3 course from the whole menu was great! I exited the price to be €29 per person but it was €31 which isn’t a big deal but when I’m back in Amsterdam i will definitely be coming back.
Lively and energetic, seemed to have lots of locals. I didn't think much of the food, though.
Ate here on New Years eve. The food was excellent and, although very busy, the service was great. Highly recommended.
Came for new year meal with my girlfriend loved the food was such great value!!
Would love to see pink gin available next time
The food and experience was fantastic. Great for a small group, but also had space for larger groups or work dinners. The cheese fondue was fantastic!
I enjoyed my dinner, nestled quietly at the front window table. This is a laid back, hidden neighborhood gem. Very worth the trek from the tram!
Great food good value and ambience - local gem
Absolutely wonderful food, service and atmosphere! Went for a date with my boyfriend. Amazing ambience and cool decor. Fab specials. Delicious! Highly recommend and would go again xx
