Deer Park Tavern
Waitress was very accommodating with special requests and answering questions. Food and bill were brought quickly even though it was a busy friday night. Tuna sashimi and salads are very good here, and free popcorn is a favorite.
$4 Bloody Mary bar is always a good way to start a Saturday. The omelettes were delicious. My husband had the Fajita omelette and I had the mushroom and cheese omelette. They were bot cooled perfectly and came with a choice of toast and Tater Tots!
Just wondering why after using OT to reserve a table I was not awarded points. What's up with that? Our experience at Deerpark was very good, always a go to restaurant for us!
Had the roast beef sandwich and the jambalaya. The beef in the sandwich was very good, but the slice of unmelted cheese sitting on top was beyond tacky and I just took it off. Instead of fries, I opted for the baked beans. They came out in one of those little condiment cups - and it was only half full. Please - they were baked beans - what a disappointment. The jambalaya was good, but once again - didn't get much especially considering the price. The food was just way overpriced. The service was acceptable. The décor needs an update. Yes, it's an old building, but the tables still need a refresh - all worn out.
Great service. Waiter was very attentive.
I am very pleased with their breakfast menu and plan to visit again. I am less impressed with their lunch menu.
The food was great, we had a great time, we did have a bit of a wait before our order was taken, but overall, we will be back again. The atmosphere was lively!
Great outdoor seating. Great food. Good prices. Popular spot for college kids and area locals.
Fun college town atmosphere and good food...that's all you need!
Have been eating at Deer Park for the past 4 years while visiting my daughter at UD. Have always enjoyed our meals here, especially The burgers and quesadillas. The drinks are good too! The service has always been good, and we enjoy the pub-like atmosphere. It’s nice to be able to make reservations.
Great food and friendly service. The burger was cooked perfectly. The brisket sandwich was stuffed with meat. Every one enjoyed their meal. We will definitely be back.
First time there and will be back!! What a great place and food was great!!
Great to have a live band there for Brunch, food just so-so as well as service.
I didn't have to wait to be seated and the service was awesome. The food and drinks were great and the prices were excellent. I will definitely return soon!
Had the French Toast it was very good .
Maybe .. have something else with it for the price .
Like ..fried potatoes or tater tots .
Went for Sunday brunch. Simple menu and food was great.
We stopped in for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The Bloody Mary Bar was fabulous! I had the Tuna Sashimi salad. The tuna was fresh and cooked perfectly. The greens were fresh as well. My husband had the Frittata which he said was excellent. Would highly recommend.
Delicious free buttered popcorn. Very greasy fried mozzarella that tasted like they fried it with the fish. Tuna melt on cucumber and rye was good but also very greasy with lots of herbed mayo. Overall, about what you expect at a college bar, i guess.
Campus hangout near university of Delaware. Good burgers and salads. Very slow service. Best to go at time when students are on break. Good beer selection.
Had a great family brunch. Nice blloody Mary bar. Good service.
Family get together
Me and a few colleagues met there for lunch. The food and atmosphere were superb, but the speed of service was slower than expected, considering it was not crowded.
We were doing a 'second chance' because the food is good but the attitude is lousy. Last time they claimed not to have our Open Table reservation. This time we were stuck in the bar at 'pub' table despite another Open Table reservation. It appeared there was plenty of room but we were given no choice. Our server appeared to be particularly busy but other servers were standing around and gabbing.
I would recommend to Open Table to discontinue your relationship with Deer Park Tavern. They are apparently busy enough to not need the reservations
Great atmosphere! Went for the first time for brunch and truly enjoyed the food and customer service.
Great! Cheap drinks good food.
First time at this establishment and I loved it. Nice beer list, great atmosphere and service. Building is classic.
tHE EXPERIENCE WAS VERY PLEASING WITH A COMFORTABLE SETTING. THE RESERVATIONS LEFT US WITH THE COMFORT OF NOT HAVING TO WAIT FOR SEATING. FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, TASTY AND HOT. BLOODY MARY'S PREPARED BY THE STAFF WERE EXCELLENT. REASONABLY PRICED AND GREAT SERVICE THE WAITRESS WAS THERE BUT NOT IN A RUSHING WAY. WE WERE ABLE TO HOLD A CONVERSATION WHICH IS DIFFICULT IN MANY PLACES . LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT.
Breakfast on Sunday - always a nice brunch with good choices of food and live entertainment too. The wait staff is friendly and the service is good. I like coming to this Newark establishment.
Someone recommended this restaurant to me. We didn't go during brunch and ordered off of the regular menu. The food was good. The place had a bad odor. They also had a popcorn machine, and the popcorn was actually great. The service was okay.
It's not the Deer Park I remember.....nachos were totally BLAH - no lettuce or olives. Soups were pretty good.
We came for brunch on Sunday of parents weekend. It was so loud and crowded because of a race happening. If we knew if was going on we wouldn’t have made reservations there. It was hard to have any conversation! Other than that our server was fantastic and the food was good...we all chose breakfast items. Just wish the ambience that day was better.
The building is pretty cool with an outdoor balcony you can eat at. We reserved an outside table although it was cold out , they moved us closer to heaters so we were fine. The place is a little run down amd the table was not cleaned as it should have been even after the waiter cleaned it again (with napkins ) upon our request. Service was just ok. Perhaps because it was a very busy family weekend at UD. Soups and burgers were really good.
Our server was excellent! Knowledgeable about the menu and offering great suggestions. My daughter's steak was more medium-rare than medium, but our server immediately addressed it, and did it with a smile. The food was great and ambiance was just what we were looking for. Casual and lively.
WE arrived early , DPT accomodated us. Make you r own bloody Mary's were great Nachos were great, Had mobilty challenged G-mother with us - elevator to upstairs dining area which staff pulled tables to gether to make a site big enough for our group. WONDERFUL staff tasty food fun!
We were at University of Delaware Parents Weekend and had a nice dinner with our daughter. Great comfort food and the prices were great too.
Excellent nachos! DP style roast beef sandwich was juicy and delicious. I would suggest asking for a baguette type bread as the soft roll soaked through with all the drippings. Sweet potato fries were also very good. The place has gotten a nice facelift since I was there three years ago. It was dumpy and run down with food that was mediocre. I was willing to give it another try for parents weekend at UD, and would definitely return.
Always love the Deer Park . HOWEVER, when I got there the hostesses said they did not have my reservation from Open Table. Fortunately there was a table available. If there hadn't been a table this would have been ruined our business meeting!
Food was good. Hubby had the Beef Stew which was good. Burgers tasted good. Portions were small. Service was very good.
The issue I had was our reservations were for 6:30pm for 8 people on Saturday night. My husband and I, two teenagers, my sons (2 UD Students) and their girlfriends. When we walked up to the front door. We were stopped by the "bouncer." He went onto his mic and asked "are we allowing parties for dinner?" SERIOUSLY? It was 6:30pm! It totally felt awkward. Then, once we were seated, we felt surrounded by party goers who could care less that we were sitting there trying to eat.
Honestly, the food was not good enough to be treated that way! Guess that was our "one and done" try!
I’ve been going to the DP for years and recall the previous condition in the 70’s and 80’s. Bob Ashby turned it into more than a bar, but also a place drink, have a meal and meet friends in a casual setting. It doesn’t disappoint.
Was surprised they allowed smoking on the porch, and that they didn’t make that clear when seating us
