I was very disappointed that the open table for restaurant week was not available when the reservation was made expressly for such occasion. It was our first time going to the Wsarf and taken advantage of the occasion to go out of our way from Rockville Md. Enjoed the waterfront and the beautiful restaurant and the very attentive service. The menu was limited and the haft lobster too small.
The service here was really excellent. Our babysitter canceled on us last minute, so we ended up there with our 16 month old. It’s not exactly a kid-friendly place, but they were so nice to us and made it work. The food was pretty good, but the small portions left me a bit hungry later in the night.
Service was excellent - the somm was outstanding and really made the meal!
Great service and incredible food down on the Wharf. Really beautiful décor and interior. Can be romantic and fun!
Fourth visit...sure there will be many more! Paella the best entree
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Izzy was among the best waiters which whom I've ever experienced.
Delay Mar was an excellent place to celebrate our 29th anniversary.
I loved the ambiance and the service was great! Food was good, but not the best Spanish food I’ve eaten, which I was expecting.
We were a party of 4 and shared tapas and a bottle of white wine. We each loved every dish, clearly prepared with thoughtful attention to taste and presentation. We especially liked the stuffed peppers, pimenton, and the salad with figs, as well as the desserts. The flan and the coffee granita desserts were divine. The service was outstanding; each employee we encountered appeared right on time, attentive but never intrusive. The place is beautiful! The lighting is soft and warm, the tiles on the large wall in the rear are rather spectacular. The price makes it a special occasion place, for us at least, but we’ll definitely be back for a memorable evening.
We went to Del Mar for our anniversary. Everything was great. I would recommend it to a friend or family. The seafood paella was to die for. The pairing of wine is phenomal. So far, all the suggested pairing wine works perfect with out meal/food. Definitely coming back again for a very special occassion.
very good Spanish food. quality, flavors... I felt like at home (Spain). And the style of the restaurant is modern and stylist. Well done.
We were spending day in DC. Sat outside with shade/fans. For ladies lunch. Outstanding service, delicious food and beautiful ambiance. Highly recommend.
Fairly loud until around 8 pm when it got much quieter -- it was nicer after that. The food was excellent and the service was superb. Definitely worth the $. We had Spanish cheese, grilled octopus, the 3-Spanish-Sausages entree and a Lobster-Rice entree (similar to a Risotto). For desert we had a Flan and an Almond Cake.
We ordered several tapas dishes. We enjoyed all of them but one (naturally, it was one of the more expensive tapas). The "let down" dish for us featured bone marrow with Langoustine bits. There was barely any marrow (the biggest let down) and the herbal sauce that dotted the dish overpowered the palate. Otherwise, it was, overall, a very nice meal with pleasant service.
Excellent food, very lively scene. Highly recommend for Spanish cuisine.
Restaurant is very noisy. Don't go there and expect to make conversation and hear your companions. Service attentive and friendly. But...We ordered tapas. Although tasty, they were overpriced relative to serving size. For example, we paid $26 for an order of langoustine. What we received were 2 pinky-sized langoustines, a couple of penny-sized melon balls and a tablespoon of cucumber sorbet. That works out to $13 each for crustaceans that required a jeweler's loupe and tweezers to consume.
After a rather embarrassing oversight on my part, the manager was incredibly helpful, giving me the peace-of-mind to enjoy a fantastic meal of tapas and wine with my wife. Really wonderful food and attentive service in a great place. And, if you're going to a concert at The Anthem, the location can't be beat.
I've been to the restaurant twice now. Both times, we shared some of the tapas and then had a fish entree. All of the food is outstanding particularly the bread with crushed tomatoes, the shrimp tapas, the octopus dish and the fritters. The restaurant is loud and having a conversation can be challenging. A very young woman, with date, sitting at a table next to us mentioned multiple times that she had no idea what her date was saying. But, it's worth the splurge for the food and the great service.
Unimpressed. Seems like the only thing worth getting is the paella and/or the whole fish. Don’t bother with the creative entree plates, they are just another small tapas plate.
Entree took more than 1h20m to arrive and arrived cold.
We had a cheese plate, 2 drink and 4 tappas. Our dinner took nearly 2 hours on a Saturday evening with reservations at 9:15; the waiter opend our check at 9:39 and closed it at 10:51! The staff was pleasant but unapologetic about the slow service and complete lack of attention. Too bad - the food and drinks were very good once they arrived.
Del Mar was recommended to me by members of my club. They can be some extremely difficult guests to please and I can see now why they love Del Mar. It was outstanding from start to finish. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and they made the occasion very special for us. Herman was an outstanding server and Stefania made sure the little touches were added. The suggestions were right on point and Herman knew his menu well. As someone who has run fine dining restaurants for years, I can be extremely critical. Just ask my wife...it drives her crazy! The menu is a little pricey, but the experience is definitely worth it. The only complaint I have is with the parking around the Wharf. I would give yourself an extra 30 minutes if you don't want to be late for your reservation, but once there you will thoroughly enjoy Del Mar. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family. Well Done!
The food is very good. Disappointed with the service. We ordered six tapas. Three came in good time but for the other three we had to wait over half an hour! These only arrived after we complained to the manager. When we told the waiter he said that the "kitchen was working hard at it". Not good enough when you are paying top dollar. The tried to make up by giving us some wine and free desserts. I had been here once before and had an excellent all round experience. Maybe this was because we agreed to sit outside. Not what I expected at Del Mar.
Very expensive for very small portions. Took > 1 hour food to arrive. Disappointing.
My husband and I celebrated our 56th wedding anniversary at Del Mar. We had dined there previously and loved the seafood paella which we ordered again on this occasion. It was, as before, delicious and beautifully prepared and served. The wait staff was both attentive and courteous. We were very happy to celebrate our special occasion there.
Our only complaint was the cost of two very small glasses of white wine -- a sancerre. Of course, we were aware of the cost when we ordered and though the wine comprised 20 percent of the cost of our meal, the amount of the "pour" was approximately one-fourth to one-third of a standard white wine glass. A very small amount, indeed, and not consistent with the "pour" we've experienced in other restaurants of similar quality and reputation.
Outstanding food and ambience . A little pricey but worth it
I love the food, I was disappointed they didn't have the dover sole and/or Turbot. One of the reason I go there is for those two fishes
That said the food is always excellent the service impeccable and Stefania was a delight making sure our experience was delightful
Everything was wonderful, per always. Lovely atmosphere, great wine, excellent service, yummy food. One thing I noticed this time, though, was that because we didn’t do the paella like we did the last couple of times, and instead just had tapas (which were fabulous), we didn’t leave fully satiated. Some of the tapas are generous portions, but many were quite small. Next time I’ll get a couple of tapas and go back for more paella.
Only thing better than the food was the service. Impeccable. One caveat is the prices are a bit high, but considering the overall experience, it's hard to complain.
Everything was wonderful! The food was simply outstanding. Service was perfect, there when we needed her but not hovering. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Every experience I have had at Del Mark has been exceptional.
Amazing food, fabulous service, great atmosphere and good wine selections. Highly recommend for a special night out or just a date night.
Great service, but not great rice dishes.
Had a wonderful meal - food quality and service was terrific, entrée portions a little small, even by European standards.
Food is just so so，but the price so youexpensive！！
The service and the food was amazing. See you next time!
Sorry but I don't get the excitement over this restaurant. Food just so so and at $300 for three people who tried to order inexpensive items, it is a joke.
Friend visiting from overseas. Biggest complaint was wine list- didn’t see a single bottle under $100! Ridiculous!
Not a place to take children. The foods great but the menu is limited for kids
