Limor is the driving force behind the menu, drawing on her eclectic heritage — she was born in Tel Aviv to a family of Russian and Iranian origins — and inspired by her father, a passionate cook who exposed her to the myriad flavours, herbs and spices of the region. Limor’s recipes are influenced by her interest in healthy eating – grilling, roasting and using herbs and spices to celebrate the raw ingredients, including many vegetarian dishes. Her self-taught and intuitive approach results in dishes that are wholesome, healthy and with a unique flavour combination.
The food is accompanied by a drinks list that includes exciting wines from the Eastern Mediterranean, alongside house cocktails that incorporate the same aromatic herbs & spices used in the kitchen.
Food was great. Service was slightly odd - felt a bit rushed. It's very noisy - they desperately need some more soft furnishings to absorb the sound. Customer noise competing with background music didn't make for a great experience. Also, only 2 loos, and too close to the dining area for my liking.
This visit there was no pink lemonade which was disappointing and the “balagan” dish was smaller than usual and not particularly tasty.
It was £40 for 2 , no alcohol or dessert.. so rather pricey ... very good service however
Already have recommended them to a friend (my boss), and also had my first return visit. The food was delicious but I need to go again with a friend who likes falling silent while eating; focus is required to fully enjoy good food!
I don't go back to that many restaurants but I made a point of returning to this one. The service was friendly, relaxed but also conscientious, and I really really like the food. On the VFM front it's on the top-side of reasonable - portions and contents are not heavy, but the tastes more than make up for lightness. And it's a vegetarian's wet-dream; vegans would have less choice as some salads have cheese as part of their wow-factor. And my meat-eating friend rated the chicken highly. The restaurant is quite intimate; I'm getting a bit middle-aged these days and I like a bit of calm and space when I'm eating. Won't stop me going back though :-)
Recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. Friendly service and delicious food
Food and service was amazing! We were a party of 6 for a special occasion and were really looked after. Food was superb and very quick. Cauliflower starter is the stand out dish by far!
Nice table and initially good service. Ordered freely but felt rushed. Left well within 2 hour time slot but not one of the three staff bid us good bye. Food good but expensive; portions small. The starter 'special' appeared identical to an item on the menu. Could easily have been a very pleasant evening if Delamina worked on making things a bit more special.
Great food, however service was really slow.
Also it was too loud inside.
Also the price is a bit high for the food - so it’s not great value for money but if you really want Israeli food it’s decent.
If I compare this to other Israeli food restaurants in London I think this is a nice option but I’d definitely ask to be in a corner as it was far too loud and I was having to shout to hear friends on the same table as me
This was my 4th visit to Delamina, after 3 excellent experiences. I was entertaining a business associate, so booked somewhere I knew would be good, but was bitterly disappointed this time.
I am not sure what happened, but the starters and main courses were served at the same time. Staff appeared to be somewhat taken-aback when I asked that the mains be removed and served after we had finished our starters, and no apology was offered. When the mains were served, these were cold, and it was clear the previously served courses had been put aside, and then re-served to us. In addition the portions were ridiculously small. The sea bass was tiny (seriously, the smallest I had ever seen) - for £17 this was really not acceptable. The roast cod was also very small, and quite frankly, not good at all. We never complained, but soldiered on, as it appeared the staff at the restaurant were unsupervised and poorly trained, and quite frankly we didn't want the hassle of trying to explain to them why we were unhappy. Overall, not a very pleasant experience.
We're very disappointed to hear about your last experience at Delamina. We always prefer guests raise their concerns with the manager so that we can resolve them immediately, rather than leave frustrated and write a negative review. We would have happily remade or changed your dishes had you let us know they were cold or not to your liking. While the sea bass size slightly varies with each day's delivery, we believe £17 for grilled-to-order fresh whole deboned fish with garnish is reasonable.
Really excellent, authentic Middle Eastern food. Lovely atmosphere
Don't know what happened to this favourite restaurant of mine. Food and presentation was poor , portions ridiculously small. A sea bass for example a small as a sardine with a minute vegetable on top at £17 is not on. This together with a burnt and tough poussin did not impress.
Great food. Great Service.
Excellent lunch. Lamb was a little undercooked in the middle but was of high quality and tasty. Had selection of starters that were also very good. We weren't rushed, service was friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend highly.
Delicious food and friendly service
Excellent service - friendly efficient waiting staff and great atmosphere. Food very tasty
Thank you everyone at Delamina for making it a great evening
Food is interesting, and well presented. The trouble with “small plates” is that you get through the meal too quickly, so the service needs to be sensitive. Our 5 plates for starters came within 3 minutes so we were on to the mains within half - hour. We had to pace ourselves to make an evening of it. The waiting staff were however very pleasant. Also for the price the salmon although excellent was a bit stingy at 3 small pieces, dans much accompaniment (but what there was was very good).
Really, lovely, scrumptious food. It was a very hot evening and it was good to have the windows open and to feel the breeze.
Excellent Israeli food. Delicious.we very much enjoyed the experience.
Lovely place and food very well presented, although, I was expecting a bit more. The restaurant gets busy quite quick and there is not staff enough to keep the service in a good standard.
Friendly informal atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Food was excellent - fresh, inventive combinations and really great flavours. Not a large menu but plenty of choice for vegetarians as well as meat & fish lovers. Really brings the sunshine and creativity of Tel Aviv to London. We’ve been twice and will go again. Highly recommend.
Lovely food and venue disappointing to be in the basement
Delicious food. So many amazing flavours infused in the dishes. Highly recommend this place.
The service was really poor. Staff in knowledgeable and the manager rude and unhelpful. I’ve been before and the service was lovely - it’s changed so much. The food was tasty but all cold. Couldn’t be bothered to say anything to the waiter. Probably won’t go back again.
Fairly average food. Eggs with no flavour. Would not come back.
4th time dining and remains consistently good. Can’t fault any of the very tasty dishes or the service which was very friendly and quick
Lunch with friends. The staff were very friendly and the ambiance was lively. Unfortunately let down by underwhelming food. We opted for a special of the day which was described as a type of pizza. What arrived was a piece of bread covered in goats cheese and beetroot, with a few salad leaves. Disappointing
Delicious meal. Food well cooked and presented. A little cramped inside restaurant but staff friendly and efficient. The chocolate dessert was fabulous. Nice relaxed ambience.
3rd visit. Same high standards as always. Will be back again.
Service was slow
Excellent tasty food, great presentation, great service
We went here on a Friday evening and the tables were so closely packed together, there was barely room to move once you’d taken your seat and you couldn’t have a private conversation. We mentioned this to the waiter and they made excuses saying they couldn’t do anything about the number of internet bookings made (surely a manager simply takes less bookings and sets a threshold online?) As for the food and drink: the wine by glass is served at 125ml as standard and they said they didn’t serve 175ml glasses. The portions were small and unsubstantial, meaning that with sides, an average main course was costing upwards of £20 for little food. We were very disappointed and won’t be going again. The salad my friend had as a main was nothing particularly special (mostly baby lettuce leaves, some soft boiled eggs and asparagus) - a dish straightforward to make at home. Other restaurants provide space for their guests and are less miserly with their food. I don’t normally leave negative reviews but this experience warrants an exception. It was overpriced, noisy and the food was average.
Friendly and frenetic. Imaginative 'Out of Tel Aviv' type menu. Lovely helpful greeting and waiting team. Very pleasant Friday lunchtime hubbub. Value? Well... yeah. It's decent. Foods good. ambience is good, and it's in a very cool place. Go. Enjoy. Knock yourself out and have the Halva Praline desert.
Tasty food, very average service
Service was poor- they made 3 errors out of 4 orders .
Food was undercooked on one dish and returned. Replaced with another gratis.
Great food. Very quick and efficient and friendly service. Expensive
Great place, thanks so much for having us. We had a great meal.
Good food for sharing and delicious mains
Desserts were less impressive
Service was perfect
Delamina is one of my favourite London restaurants. A small menu of beautiful food. The staff are very welcoming and service excellent. I look forward to trying Delamina East in Shoreditch when I’m that way.
This has been my favourite restaurant in London for a while but I was a bit disappointed by the food and ambivalent service this time.
Both dishes ordered presented well enough but were certainly not as tasty and well cooked as before. The turkey in the shawarma was dry and chewy & the aubergine in the starter tasted as if it had only been partly heated through.
I'll give the place one more chance & hope this is a one off & not a general drop in standards.
Delicious middle eastern food in lovely relaxed surroundings.
