Waited an hour for starters even though first to order. Unacceptable. Inappropriate loud music. Unacceptable. Average food at inflated prices. Afternoon tea noisy tables totally inappropriate at a 12 30 luncheon supposedly fine dining establishment.

We have enjoyed eating here since the restaurant opened, but whilst the decor and view to the golf course is lovely it was let down by the food.

We had the set lunch menu @ £23.50 for 2 courses plus 12.5% discretionary service.
The first course Gravlax, Dill Crème Fraiche, Fennel, Radish, Beetroot -was very disappointing the Gravalux was excessively salty, don't recall any fennel or radish but the salad leaves were flavoursome and the 4 small cubes of beetroot were okay.
The main course of Grilled Mackerel Fillets, Warm Tartare Sauce, Roasted Potato Salad was also disappointing. Quality of the mackerel was average probably slightly over-cooked, the roasted potato salad, had been pre-cooked and so the flavour was marred. The garnish of Water Cress should never had been in the kitchen, 50% of the leaves were yellow.
The fresh bread was excellent but the butter was too salty, and I like salt! We were told it was French from Nantes - pity they don't offer unsalted from Normandy!
The Prosecco £5(125ml) and the Andeluna, Chardonnay from Argentina £5.50(125ml) were okay.

We arrived at about 1.30pm and noticed 6 tables of guests having Afternoon Tea and 5 tables of guests having lunch.
Afternoon Tea is served between 12.00pm and 4.00pm and at £28pp looked good value with several guests taking uneaten food away in good-looking 'doggy bags' (boxes). We were told the time slot for Tea had been brought forward by popular demand from the traditional time Afternoon Tea is taken.

In a word at £23.50 is good value in a lovely environment but the Chef needs to do something about what he puts on the plates.

Greeting wasn't great as we arrived and then had to look around for someone to look after us. Drinks on the patio were pleasant & reasonably priced. Set menu had very few options, but represented reasonable value. The a la carte had the annoying habit of charging extortionate prices for side dishes e.g. £3:95 for some french beans, after you've already paid £28:50 for sea bass! My "rare" steak arrived cold, but the efficient manager took it away and a replacement arrived in reasonably fast order.

Historically we have waited a long time between food orders and delivery, this time the turnaround was quicker which will mean that we return. The fillet steak at c. £40 is more expensive than Goodman's in Mayfair which is not appropriate.

A wonderful experience for my husbands surprise birthday treat. A bit of a mix up with our pre dinner drinks which we had to wait quite a while for and then turned up with our starters, but the food more than made up for the error. Every dish was delicious and I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants something special for a celebration.

After our last visit and the food being below par I was hesitant to book again but needn't have worried. The start wasn't so great when the barman managed to mix up the two cocktails half way through mixing them. A Cosmo wasn't so great with Tia Maria in the mix but the mistake was rectified very swiftly. The new menu is fabulous and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The dover sole dish is outstanding. Our server Jonathan was really on the ball as always. Overall a great time had by all

We found the music to be too loud, obtrusive and annoying.
The music was everywhere in the restaurant, even in the lounge area where we would have liked to relax after the meal, but found the music to be irritating. We did ask for it to be turned down, which it was , but it was still audible and only slightly less annoying. It seemed to be get louder again and we believe someone turned it up.
We complained to the receptionist when we left but she was unsympathetic, saying that that was the Centurian, the music was past of the whole experience. We pointed out the restaurant was now empty and couldn't understand why they insisted on the music even though they knew it was not wanted.
We are regular customers and enjoy eating with you.
We wish to have lunch in a quiet relaxing place, that is the whole reason we travel to you.
If there is to be music, it should be very gently in the background and not such that it makes it difficult for customers to have a conversation.
Otherwise, with a large table/lounge area it becomes necessary to shout.
Please rethink your music policy at lunchtimes, as we will not revisit, purely due to the music.

We love this place and have been many times before and also rated it highly in the past but this time .....
We went for my husbands birthday lunch on a Monday so we knew it would be quiet but that was fine.
As we were driving we did not order any wine.
I had the lobster and scallop ravioli to start it was one very small piece which was very expensive my husband did not have a starter.
We both had a main course, 1 chicken 1 liver & bacon no dessert and two coffees and a bottle of water the bill was £76 on reflection of this we were really disappointed.
We could be in a top class restaurant in London and have better food for this amount of money.
We love Galvins at Centurian but I think you need to take a look at your pricing and the size of your servings otherwise people will stop coming.

The restaurant is very relaxed, and generally fairly quiet, with attractive views out to the golf course. There is a very comfortable lounge for pre- and post-meal drinks with a nice wood-fire in winter. (Or there is a patio which is used in summer.
We normally have the great-value table d'hote menu, but on our recent visit we were able to take advantage of a special offer (Travelzoo) which allows dining from the a la carte menu for a similar price.
Both menus have a good variety of dishes across all courses.
The highlights of the meal on this occasion were the venison and the fillet steak (- these require a supplementary payment). I have previously had chateaubriand, sirloin, and roast beef as part of the Sunday lunch here, and can say that all the beef at Centurion is among the best I have had. I can now confirm that the venison is equally delicious.
Mention must also be made of the desserts. Just wonderful.
Service is very friendly but unhurried. Great if like me you enjoy a leisurely meal. If you are a bit pushed for time then I suggest you let staff know in advance.

Food is outstanding, cannot be faulted! This place is really let down by the service, they get preoccupied clearing and resetting tables for the next day and aren’t attentive with desert, coffeee, drinks etc. It feels like after 9:30 they’re trying to rush everyone out the door. It’s a shame because it’s a lovely setting for dinner and good place to spend an evening.

This was our second meal at Centurion, the first was a weekday lunch. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. The quality of food this time was first class, as it was on our previous visit. However, the service was curt at best, very inattentive and charmless. The room was not full but was so noisy that at times it was hard for my wife and I to have a conversation without raising our voices. This was a product of the acoustics in the room and a couple of tables who were very loud. The food quality might allow Centurion to justify the prices, but the service and ambience mean that this is far from a fine dining experience and as a result the prices are too high. We won't be returning.

This was our second visit to The Centurion. The ambiance and service are very good, but on this occasion the food did not live up to the same high standards.
The starter that 2 of our party ordered - foie gras roulade, was not seasoned at all well (we needed to add our own, by requesting salt and pepper as it wasn’t on the table). Two of our party ordered chateaubriand, but although it was served beautifully, the portion was small, only 2 slices per person, and it had already been plated before it came to the table, which is not usual in my experience. Both of the other main courses were faultless. But such a special dish as chateaubriand deserves a choice of whether diners have an outside or inside slice, and at least 3 slices. This definitely did not represent good value.
One of our party had room for dessert (caramel banana soufflé) this has to be sent back to the kitchen. It looked well risen and cooked on the outside, but the inside was still almost a purée and was decidedly uncooked. It was rejected after one spoonful and sent back - the waiter offered a choice of another dessert but not an offer to prepare another soufflé, which was a shame. I wondered if it was because it was late-ish and the chef had gone home?
We would consider returning to Galvin at Centurion, but I hope it can do better next time. It could be such a great local restaurant option

Birthday - I found the food very minimal and the table next to us being so loud we couldn’t even hear ourselves chat. I thought the food was over priced for what I received on my plate and the cutlery blunt. My lamb was mainly fat and although as restaurant you cannot dictate what the butchers supplied but surely for that money you would trim the fat off of meat.
