Food was delicious but a bit let down by service towards the end, I think it was too much for 1 server to be covering all tables, he was doing his best though
It was to celebrate my birthday and my friends birthday. We had a wonderful day. Excellent food, great service, good wine plus music and sun.
Great location for a hotel and restaurant, lovely view, good food and attentive service. Would definitely go back.
Fabulous lunch, staff very attentive and the jazz band really made it extra special they were great.
We had a lovely afternoon celebrating our wedding anniversary, food , service , and atmosphere was perfect
Visited Stoke Place for an afternoon tea n the King and Lamb restaurant with my husband. The food was nice and the staff were very friendly and professional. It was a very cold day for August so too cold to walk around the grounds (wasnt wearing a coat). The restaurant was very different from the images shown on the website! I wouldn't say it was a purpose build restaurant just a dinning room. I dressed up as the king and lamb resturant looked quite up market. I felt very overdressed as all the other guests apart from one table were wearing shorts, t shirts and trainers!! I even overheard the group of girls saying that they had worn the wrong outfits Haha! It was £45 for aftetnoon tea including service charge. I would of liked the offer of more sandwiches as pefer to lots of cakes but I know this option is not standard everywhere. The host was really friendly and quite funny to. He told us some history about tea. Overall I thought afternoon tea was very good.
I’ve stayed at Stoke Place several times previously and follow their social media pages. Recently saw their post about Bottomless Brunch which piqued my interest. I was not disappointed, it’s great value for money and delicious. The drinks were flowing! It’s ideal to enjoy whilst catching up with friends or family. We had a fantastic time today and really enjoyed the food. My Wild Mushroom Fricassee was delicious, the chips were perfect and the Pannacotta dessert was heavenly! Service was totally on point.
The decor in common areas has undergone a refurb since my previous visits and the place looks great. They’ve got good measures in place regarding Covid-19 too. Definitely book in a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
OMG, what a disapointment!
Got shown to table.
Given un-priced menu.
Nothing for 30 minuites, no drinks no appologies, no service of any kind.
Got up and left.
Would strongly not recommend.
The food was amazing and worth the wait. Unfortunately we didn’t know that only two chefs were working due to current restrictions- hence the wait- But couldn’t fault the food.
Great place, lovely atmosphere, safe covid measures in place. However, service was slow. Overall the food was lovely and enjoyed by all.
Food and service were excellent. The gnocchi was delicious! Will be back soon!
We had high expectations from the reviews and photos, so were extremely disappointed when we arrived and even more so after we finished eating. We had not been to the restaurant before and on arriving at the hotel, there were no directions to the restaurant when we located it the restaurant was much smaller than it looked online, no resemblance to the photos, no ambience and the table was dirty.
Obviously due to the currently situation with COVID it was much quieter as there were less tables, this should have meant that service would be excellent. Aside from taking our order and bringing it to the table we did not see any members of staff as they were constantly in and out of the room.
Fizzy soft drinks were served out of 2 litre bottles, when arriving were flat and tasteless (certainly not any of the major brands) and when charging over £3.50 for a pint is not acceptable.
The medium rare steak I ordered arrived well done and the food was over salted, by the time a member of staff appeared for me to tell them my husband had practically finished his salad. I advised the member of staff that was over cooked, but felt that I had to eat it as my husband had finished his meal and we would wait too long for a replacement (max of 2 hours given at the table). There was no real apology except to say he would advise the kitchen and certainly no recompense. Due to the length of time service was taking we didn't have any time to order a dessert as our time was up at the table.
An expensive meal with no enjoyment.
The starter was really good and the main however dessert was disappointing
I was there pre covid and I remember it being magical however due to covid the ambience has considerably reduced which is a shame. Maybe try and pleasantly increase the ambience as going out we want to escape covid alongside managing it. Some thought should be given to this
The food, service, and bottomless drinks are amazing! All the staff are wonderful, especially Mark and Paul and we keep coming back week after week!
Went on a Eat out Help out offer, received a phone call to check if we were coming, which was fine but on arrival the table wasn’t ready at 6pm so was taken to the bar where there wasn’t any seats and didn’t want to stand there as no social distances, we had passed rooms where seats were free so took us back there, then said table was ready!
The table was cleaned while we sat but I asked for the arms on the chairs to be cleaned, they only cleaned my chair!
Food was okay not a wide menu, not the menu that is shown on website!
On the menu fish and chips £13.50 we paid £15.00 Caesar salad £12.00 we paid £12.50
We had the cheeses board which joke not value for money.
On entering Stoke Place we were impressed but unfortunately the impression didn’t last,
on being taken to our table I noticed a large puddle by the table which I mentioned to the waiter, he shrugged and said it’s a leaky radiator and walked away and left the puddle, which was still there when we left, Health and safety didn’t come into it!
We had a very pleasant afternoon tea which was delicious. A great choice of teas. Lovely rooms in a beautiful setting. Extremely friendly staff with very good attention to social distancing and safety measures without it being intrusive or ruining your experience.
Lovely Hotel, Great Food, Lovely Staff, Quiet Surroundings and Amazing Grounds
Amazing food, excellent service and perfect attention to detail where COVID-19 is concerned. Loved it and felt very safe.
Came here for the first time as we stayed at stoke place.
Waiter was very nice and chatty he was South African.
Food was lovely and at a reasonable price, will definitely be back
It was amazing the staff couldn’t do more and the setting is lovely we will be back
The food was quite small portions for what you pay.
One of my friends dish was so burnt (the toast), she had to scrape some of the bottom off. Why the chef just wouldn’t have given another one is beyond me. My other friends meal just looked a little effortless. The service got better when the staff did a shift change. The original service was poor as we were ignored, and nothing was done when we complained about one of the meals (the burnt one). But atmosphere was nice and calm, and I had a good time with friends overall.
Set in the most beautiful old house and grounds. Food has been utterly delicious.. and the service is nothing short of fantastic! The team literally cannot do enough for you! Dined inside, in the bar and also sat outside on the terrace overlooking the stunning gardens.. beautiful!
Very nice place
I have been coming here for over 30 years, the food however does not warrant the price tag
We really enjoy going to Stoke Place and their Sunday lunch is amazing value. This was no exception really enjoyed.
Service and food was to a high standard. The restaurant is situated where you get excellent views of the grounds and lake. Lovely historic building with plenty of parking spaces.
Beautiful food, great service and great value. We will return.
Love this restaurant, food is excellent and very reasonable. The place is lovely and the staff are all amazing. Never disappointed.
Amazing food and amazing service as usual, with exceptional value for money. I can’t recommend highly enough. Looking forward to trying the new brunch menu available on Saturdays and Sundays.
A beautiful location for a lovely Sunday lunch. The restaurant overlooks the grounds, and although the sun was sometimes in my eyes - it was not a problem! The three courses were all balanced and extremely tasty. Everyone in my party found something on the Sunday menu they liked. Great service from Paul and the team. The bottomless wine was lovely. Both red and white were Spanish wines of a fair quality for the lunch and the staff kept us all topped up nicely! I look forward to visiting again - I understand they do Saturday Brunch with bottomless Prosecco!
Good value sunday lunch. Very good food and wine. Nice friendly service. Could do with improving the promptness of greeting guests on arrival and taking them to their seats. This aside, all was very good.
Wonder evening , quality food, great service. Highly recommend.
The host was friendly and attentive, made us feel valued as guest and made sure we are enjoying our evening.
Excellent service and wonderful food. Highly recommend the Sunday Roast
Main course was served cold
Lovely lunch from the set menu. First visit, won't be the last.
The bottomless Sunday roast is excellent, food and service were faultless, will definitely be returning!

Food was fantastic and service attentive just a little slow in places. Beautiful setting.
Dear JessC Thank you for your wonderful review on the King & Lamb. I have passed on your kind words for all the team to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards Mark
Another exceptional lunch.
Great service and great food.
Dear LesleyV, Thank you for your kind review. So glad to see you back again with us. Looking forward to seeing you the next time. Kind Regards Mark
This our 5th or 6th visit on a Sunday and I can’t fault it.
Excellent food, acceptable wine, good location, and good service. What more could you ask for? Ticks all the right boxes for Sunday lunch.
Was staying at hotel with my partner. The menu looked enticing but we both had the rump steak - perfectly cooked and a wonderful 'rare Vintage' Malbec.
Perfect service too - thank you
