Dining at The Cliff Hotel
The Cliff Hotel dates back to 1890 when the original hotel was opened, in 1915 the building was ravaged by fire and demolished. The old staff accommodation was renovated into a new hotel, the building that we currently occupy today.
We have a vast selection of dining options from our relaxed art-deco inspired MUSE restaurant, our vibrant bar dining area or one of the biggest outside dining terraces in Norfolk.
Wherever you decide to eat our menus will give you a huge variety of choice from fresh fish to steaks and grills. Alternatively we have lighter snacks and a range of classic dishes to delight all tastes.
Why not join us for a traditional Sunday roast or a quintessentially British afternoon tea?
Our food is prepared in our kitchens to ensure the best quality and taste reaches your table.
We look forward to welcoming you.

The new lit up trees and light decor gives the bar area a lovely modern feel. The staff are really friendly making sure you enjoy your visit .
My partner and i experienced a lovely evening last night at the Cliff Hotel.
The staff were friendly, the food and drinks came in good time and the dishes we had were absolutely delicious.
The rib eye steak in particular was ine of the best i have had.
Only downside was being seated too close to the entrance leading outside and being hit with that freezing breeze everytime is was opened.
Food very good and service outstanding. Beautiful ambiance.
Fish batter was tasteless and soggy, chips undercooked, chicken burger literally dripping with grease and again, fries were not cooked properly. Thoroughly disappointment with the food this time. Shame as the last time I visited it was nice.
Excellent service, staff very attentive and helpful.
My wife had the Turkey roast which was nice I had the Beef and being honest it a bit tough and slightly over cooked not pink fairly hard to cut through maybe it would have been better if it was slightly thinner, Real Gravy very nice , although a very good portion and good value , we will be back
Very good prompt, pleasant and friendly customer service although there was no Port available to drink!
Service was very sloppy, forgot one of our mains, had to ask them to take the others away and bring out when the missing meal was ready, 20 minutes later food came back and was all the same just kept warm, not ideal for steaks, was not asked if food was ok and had to go to bar to ask for drinks, it wasnt even busy, and waited 30 minuts for 1 childs desert that we has to ask twice for, shockingly bad service.
We had previously chosen to eat in the outside covered dining area but on this day it was quite cold and windy therefore we needed our coats on. The overhead heating was helpful but all heaters are on a time switch therefore they continually keep turning themselves off and we needed to ask many times for them to be switched back on. The staff were very polite, helpful and pleasant, but there were very long delays for the main course and sweets to arrive. Unfortunately when the main course arrived most of the food was either cold or just luke warm. The manager was very apologetic and replaced the food as quickly as possible. This time is was hotter and more eatable, however it certainly was not piping hot but was of good quality and enjoyable.
Overall stay was not great, staff were friendly, but the waiting between courses was terrible, plus had to wait a long time to be served, food was ok but not great, definitely wouldn’t come back.
Had a great meal, staff were lovely polite and helpful. Great ambience.
Not much vegetarian choice. I had the falafel burger which was very tasty.
Really enjoyed the food and l took my mum who has dementia and she really had a great time
Food was tasty but the chips where a big dry. The table service took ages but the waiters were very busy.
Food cold service long lots of painting going on so very smelly inside and too cold to sit outside
Felt the food wasn't up to its usual standard, ordered the burger, came out as two flat dry burgers in the bun rather than one which I have had before also thought the skinny chips thrown on the side were not very generous or appetising all in all disappointing to what I've had in the past
Arrived for Sunday lunch, was shown a table in the staff cleaning area with traffic back and forth to the bar and on its own. Requested a different table and it was a big issue to move us. The waitress was unhelpful and despite asking to be found somewhere more acceptable as she had put us next to an open door which had a freezing cold draught blowing through, she refused. We decided to leave before ordering, informed another person of our decision who then decided she could sit us anywhere we wanted. By this time it was too late and we walked out, never to return. I was considering having a staff Xmas dinner here but not now.
Lovely venue and I have been many times but this last occasion the service was terrible we waited over 1 hour for our food after having to chase and complain .
I wish I caught her name. But the young lady who served us inside was great! Keep her! Asset to the team!
Thank you Cliff Hotel for another lovely meal. The roast beef sunday lunch was moist, tender & totally delicous. Whilst the fish & chips had been requested with not a lot of batter on the fish was also done very well. We all had different deserts & all enjoyed them even the diabetic who was catered for as cheese & biscuits was on the menu.
Waitress was excellent & allowed us to change tables to a warmer area of the outside seating but still able to see the wonderful view of the beach etc.
Also the manager is always very friendly & welcoming.
A real pleasure to dine here
Nice place, excellent food but very slow service..
Very nice meal served quickly and professionally. The shrimps that I had in my meal were perfectly cooked and very tasty, good value.
Had 1 small bowl cauliflower (3 florets) for 5 people. Just 3 halves roast potatoes and told we could have more but would be charged and we were !! Gravy turned up by time we finished our meal and no offer of cranberry or horseradish sauce. Very disappointing
Lovely atmosphere, food was perfect and very reasonably priced! Staff were faultless!
the food is ok but the restaurant is not the best it is more like a cafe and not fine dining
Very rude foreign waitress or supervisor was not impressed about her talking about other members of staff in front of diners
Always a good place to go for a catch up with friends
Seated on the terrace in covered conservatory for breakfast. Panoramic views. Have heard some bookings through open table have been unreliable but ours was fine. Table booked for correct number of people & window view as requested.
Fantastic service with fantastic food. The availability of blankets for the outdoor dining area was a great, and welcome, surprise.
service was slow, choice and quality of food have been better, hence could not recommend to others at the moment
Had afternoon tea it was really lovely. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice surroundings.
We come every year on our way to wild duck. Last year you had a set menu for lunch and the service was slow but the food was lovely. This year there was no set menu so we had fish and chips and it was very greasy. Two of the children had the homemade chicken burger it was very spicy so I had it and gave my daughter my fish. The other child had sausages and said they were not very nice. It will be doubtful if we return next year
Booked online avoiding terrace and bar but staff insisted I had booked bar. Given table 17 in bar beside the door to terrace, staff did their best to shut door but continually left open by other diners, freezing cold. All other tables apparently reserved. Ordered pint of Wherry, not available, ordered roast beef, not available, pork was very good, Turkey not hot. Very slow service though Maggie did her best
Took a little while to be seated, not sure if they were short on staff. Someone saw we'd been waiting a bit and got us seated. We had a nice booth seat and had a lovely relaxing meal, which was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
We had pre booked so hoping for table in main restaurant but we were put on table near outside door, people were coming and going all time very draughty and noisy .
The open table booking system needs to be reviewed. Customers are booking indoor dining and then finding no space is available when they turn up. This happened to me and most other customers after. Diners were asked to sit outside in the freezing cold - this is unacceptable and not a way to enjoy a Sunday meal with family and friends. Luckily the manager found space inside for me and my mother but others weren’t so lucky.
Having reserved a restaurant table online was annoyed at being given a table in bar. Fobbed off by staff apparently unaware of online options. Overheard other diners making same complaint. Was able to overhear as table was in the equivalent of a runway through the bar - noisy, distracting, constantly staff or other diners standing beside us, exactly the experience I had booked to avoid. Oh, and having pored over the menu and chosen roast beef for Sunday lunch, only told on placing order there’s no roast beef available today.
Food was lovely
View is fantastic
Seemed to be short on staff, weren't asked if food was ok or if we wanted dessert.
Nice atmosphere comfortable seating and not crowded. Enjoyed the food and good service. Nice to be able to sit and chat and not be rushed, overall a lovely place to go.
Our Sunday lunch was very nice we sat in the restaurant. Service was very good and Adam looked after us well.
Will definitely book again and was great that we could book on line .
