decent...close to hotel...pizza next door was better
Hadn’t been for 3 or 4 years. Forgot how great the food and service is here. And it’s such a laid back, comfortable spot. My steak was divine, calamari was as good as I’ve had in any Italian restaurant and drinks were well poured. Going to be back soon!
From a place from which we could expect a good meal and a nice time, District Kitchen has lost the plot. The food was average at best, service was disinterested, and the set up amateurish (is it that hard to have salt and pepper on each table)? Needless to say we will won’t be back.
The food was delicious, the portions generous and the fix price dinner was a great value. I will return!!
District Kitchen is an awesome experience of culinary diversity in its menu and quaint but elegant design in its atmosphere. The service is very responsive and accommodating. The Creekstone Breakfast Brisket was insanely delicious.
I was very pleasantly surprised at the taste of the food and the price of the Happy Hour drinks. Great!
Would probably recommend. We ordered the fish special which was just okay. Would expect the special to be something more exciting. Waiter forgot to return our credit card.
Had a wonderful time. The staff was outstanding - welcoming, attentive, and warm. Had the perfect spot for a party of six, with a great table in a front nook that allowed everyone to see/talk/share food with each other. Our party was very pleased with the experience!
Had family in from out of town so we wanted to get something close to their hotel in Woodley Park. Never heard of this restaurant but gave it a chance. Everyone loved their meals. Burger, Salmon, Creme Brulee, Mac n Cheese and Steak Frites all received great reviews from out table.
Came here with a large group for a work dinner. Everyone loved the food, drinks and service. We had a great time and enjoyed the restaurant!
Favorite spot in the District!
Their pork chop is excellent and a great value. Three of us had it for dinner. The 4th had the shrimp and grits and apparently it was very good as it disappeared quickly. If your meal doesn't come with the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts, don't hesitate to get some as a side. And the salads are lovely and large enough to share. We had two appetizers as well and both were so tasty. They have a good wine selection, the restaurant is quiet and attractive, so conducive to good conversation. And the service was attentive. I'll definitely go back. Perhaps in slightly warmer weather to use their nice deck.
Was excited to try their brunch as I had a decent experience with dinner there. While the ambience and service were very nice, the food was quite bland. The eggs with my steak and eggs actually tasted a bit...soapy? No one was thrilled with the meal. I want to like this place but not sure if I'll be back.
It’s a relatively small menu, but within our party of nine, we ordered a good sampling of the the options on it and every single item was very, very good. It’s got a nice, neighborhood feel that can be either “dressed up or down” depending on the occasion, and the service was warm and accommodating. We will be back!
Excellent neighborhood bistro near the Zoo. Came by for a casual dinner. Highlights were the burgers and the outstanding fries. also enjoyed the roasted Brussels sprouts. Good value for money.
I will plan to go again - food and location were great
This was our first experience dining here. The ambiance was fantastic (music, lighting, tables, space, etc.) and the service started out great. However, as they got busier, we had to flag a server to take our entrees away, ask about desert and bring us our check. On the plus-side, they are completely wheelchair accessible (entrance - ramp provided - and restrooms). We will definitely go back again!
The food was delicious. Everything we ordered was great! Prices were within expectations, though the prix fixe menu option was a great deal! One thing I don't like, though, is when happy hour prices are advertised but it's only for the bar - this should be stated in the advertisement. It feels misleading.
We were staying at the Marriott Wardman for a few days and went to DK the first night...liked it so much we went back again the second night! Love the option of ordering half servings...which was more than enough food. Very good menu...especially the lump crab and avocado starter, the shrimp and polenta entree, as well as the salmon with veggies.
District Kitchen was excellent:food, service, atmosphere! We’ll be back!
(The floor was a little sticky)
Excellent and creative food choices for omnivores and vegetarians!
While in town for a conference, we had such a great dinner at District Kitchen that we came back the next night to try another dish. Great atmosphere and great food.
Food was disappointing. Limited, not particularly creative menu. Salmon very dry. Paella was pretty good.
my new goto place from the Marriott. Solid menu - well prepared and presented - good service - great local brews on tap - went twice....
Serious mouse problem. The staff seemed non-plussed and offered no apology much less a discount when we flagged the issue - there were about 5 of them running around in the dining area so presumably it’s par for the course...
Great food. Good vibe and lots of energy, but not overwhelming. Staff was friendly and courteous. Ate Ate at District Kitchen while in town for a conference. It was nice to eat where locals go. Highly recommend.
Initially put off by decor but had a great work dinner there. Good value.
The NY strip, purée corn and asparagus entree was amazing
Lots of good choices and delicious drinks. Loved the neighborhood atmosphere.
We enjoyed dining al fresco at the District Kitchen. It was our first time there and we really liked the menu selection. It included a variety of types of food and I especially liked that there were half-portion sizes for most of the entrees, which allowed you to try a few different choices and share plates too. I thought the Prix Fixe 3-course menu was a particularly good value. The caprese salad starter was a good size and very tasty. The food and then the check seemed to take a while to come so it wasn't the fastest place but we were engrossed in conversation so it didn't really matter much.
Our servers were attentive to us, but maybe not so much to our food when it came out of the kitchen. Three of us ordered the polenta dish and it was just warm, not hot as it should have been.
We had calamari to start, very tasty. The PEI mussels were delicious, salmon dish was only ok. Outdoor seating was lovely.
The food was good overall. My salad was very tasty, but my main dish, the featured fish of the evening, was not flavorful. The service was less than attentive. Our waiter never checked with us after the food was delivered and so I had to take my plate back to the kitchen to request it be warmed. When our desserts were delivered the server looked annoyed that we requested utensils. Our waiter was friendly when he was at our table but he did not come by regularly. The other three people in my group enjoyed the food- especially the Paella.
A delightful casual lunch on the patio--inside would have been a bit too crowded and a bit noisier. Server was delightful.
My experience at District Kitchen was so disappointing. We had a party of 6 for a birthday. While the food was good the service was terrible. We were completely rushed. We were never asked if we wanted another drink or if we wanted dessert or coffee at the end of our meal. As we were getting our check our server told us that another group was waiting on our table and we should wrap it up in the next ten minutes. We weren't not happy. When we mentioned we knew we were being rushed and that it was crummy. Our server walked away from the table. When he came back we mentioned that we weren't asked if we wanted dessert he said that's not a big deal we can fix that and brought us dessert menus. It seemed really put out. It really made the evening miserable. It was so disappointing.
The food is a little pricey but good. Same for the cocktails but both the food and the cocktails are innovative takes on traditional food. The area where the restrooms are is a little sketchy-looking. The doors and walls are a bit grimmy looking and there is only one light. The hallway has a funky odor but the restroom was clean. The server easily split the check but mixed up the credit cards. Overall, it is good with very friendly wait staff.
Good food and service but best of all it was not noisy
Bottomless meant bottomless, like a sip later I was getting refilled. Absolutely worth the reservation!
We had a great visit to The District Saturday night, it was our second visit. Very flexible staff, started with a reservation for 6, it grew to 9 but they accommodated easily.
Everyone was sharing parts of their meals declaring you had to try theirs, everyone extremely happy with their main courses. 2 people orders the beats appetizer and were raving about that. Everyone still talking about the drinks of course and the Charcuterie Board. I can't say how many times we like to start dinner with a simple wine, cheese and crackers, and theirs is awesome. We were buying dinner for 2, but split with the other 4 checks, staff made this very painless.
We will be back, love this spot.
The only thing lacking was there was no soy milk or alternative for my friend, who is lactose intolerant. So she had to get her own coffee from outside. A lot of people can’t drink regular milk, so it’d be good to keep an alternative!
