Myself and my partner go on every special occasion because we love the place we love the atmosphere the food and the staff are beyond reproach.
Dined mid-week but it was still busy with a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The food was of the highest quality and we would definitely like to visit again.
Yes, I would recommend it but not quite as warmly as comparable restaurants nearby - Blackfriars (owned by the same people I believe) or The Broad Chare. The food was good - particularly the wild duck - but portions are on the small side so that other places with similar prices are really offering better value. The service was friendly enough but not perfect (not being able to find our reservation when we arrived, promising more bread that never arrived).
I have already recommended Dobson & Parnell to everyone I know! Great atmosphere, beautiful interior tables evenly spread, staff and food exceptional. If your planning a trip to Newcastle you have to book this restaurant!
Taster menu with accompanying wine was amazing as was the service
Great food, fantastic service a little bigger portions would be nice but it is fine dining but would definitely recommend
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Great night
The service was slow. Veggie meal from set menu was disappointing not d&p usual standard, noodles brocoli and ?soy sauce. No flavour.
Excellent food, well presented and very good value at lunchtime. The only downside is that food service was very slow and clearing tables was slow too. However, table service was good.
Great food and brilliant prices. Truly delicious!
My 4th visit. Always great food, the service is the perfect combination of attentive and relaxed
Great restaurant in the centre of Newcastle underneath the Tyne Bridge. Energetic and friendly atmosphere and good service. Varied, interesting menu of traditional British food, cooked well, with great flavours. I had the mackrel starter and an excellent sirloin steak, and fabulous chips. Finished off with good cheeseboard and perfect espresso martini. Highly recommended. We'll be going back.
My husband had been given a Voucher from his son for his birthday which was in July and this was the first opportunity we had to use it. We arrived to a friendly welcome staff were attentive and we were impressed by their professionalism. The food was outstanding the flavours exceptional. I love tarragon and the chicken which must have been marinated in it was delicious. In-between courses the little appetisers were delicious. We had definitely found our new go to restaurant.
Lovely restaurant with great staff and delicious food
A little pricey compared to other very good restaurants in the area
No bar area to have coffee & sadly I was cold all night in the restaurant
Menu very misleading, initially indicates that there’s a 3 course deal.
Tiny little Asterix next to the dishes indicated the dishes that were included.
Did not observe this and it was not explained when taking orders.
Only when questioning the bill the server explained that they’ve had a lot of complaints about the same thing. If they’ve had a lot of complaints then surely they know and should explain when taking orders.
Had 5 course tasting menu. Least favourite dish beetroot. Favourites were eel and beef courses. Extra for cheese course not value for money. Far too small. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive.
Great food and great service as always from Stephen and the team. One of Newcastle’s very best.
A very elegant, modern restaurant which boasts excellent service and delicious menu choices. The food was beautifully presented and was delicately flavoured and cooked to perfection. The wine list is good, offering a wide choice of wines at reasonable prices. I particularly enjoyed the sweet potato and coconut soup, on the lunch menu, and my sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, with very tasty chips to accompany it. The lunch offer was good value for money (while not being cheap!) and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. I would love to return.
The food is beautifully cooked and presented. The staff have the perfect balance of attentiveness with friendliness. The lighting is exactly right, and it's very comfortable. Extremely good value for money. ( great wine list too)
Food was excellent. Service was great, although a bit slow at times, but we weren't in any rush so no problem. Overall a lovely night, will definitely be back soon!
Lovely meal. Not huge portions but lots of little surprises. Staff very friendly & professional. Good wine list & fairly priced.
Fantastic lunch venue, really enjoyed the Friendly, relaxed ambiance and quality of food. Would definitely recommend
I was visiting Newcastle for a couple of days and searched on google for recommendations and found this restaurant and it’s reviews were very good
It didn’t disappoint the food and service were exceptional we had a set menu with a glass of fizz and the food was amazing the sweet potato and coconut soup was exceptional and we loved the little appetisers they gave us between courses
The service was first class but friendly and relaxed just the right balance
Have already raced about this restaurant to friends and family
An enjoyable experience. We had Sunday lunch there and our table wasn't quite ready, so we were taken to the bar and looked after by friendly staff whilst we were waiting.
The food was well worth the wait as it was stunning.
Definitely a return visit required !
We visited Dobson & Parnell for my wife's birthday and what a treat. Vibrant atmosphere with fantastic food and first class service. We look forward to our return. Thanks to the tremendous staff very attentive without being obtrusive! We even got a complimentary glass of fizz, What a nice touch to a perfect evening..
The food tasted exquisite and was beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly, without being obsequious and happy to engaged in conversation about the food, in particular the making of the sourdough bread which was the best I have ever tasted.
Fantastic evening. We had the 5 course taster menus with wine pairing and added a cheese course. Food was amazing and the wine absolutely delicious!
All round a lovely day. Service good, food lovely but small with exception to the enormous desert.
Absolutely delicious food and excellent service. We will be back.
Lovely food as always. Glad they have gone back to a ‘proper’ menu rather than a collection of small plates which were always difficult to get the amount right. Far nicer the way it is now
Service excellent, wine/cocktails excellent. But the food left some to be desired, especially as you’re in the Michelin guide book. Mackerell starter was unbalanced as jalepeno was too hot and not well paired to the other dare I say bland ingredients. Also the corn fed chicken my parter ordered, was ridiculously salty, we both struggled to enjoy even a small amount. Everything else was superb none the less
Fantastic restaurant, lovely atmosphere, great staff and very good food. Prices are more than other places but the food is worth it. Only one thing that I found was that the main course wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. Will definitely return.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish
Great food, wonderful service and fantastic venue
We came for Sunday lunch; amazing place, so relaxed, food is amazing. Staff are friendly, and attentive. Portion sizes are just right.
on our recent evening dining at Dobson and Parnell we found all aspects of service, food, and the overall ambience, friendliness of the staff to be exceptional and will be visiting again soon
35 th anniversary
Visited the restaurant with friends and we all had a lovely evening. The food was excellent and so was the service. A young man named Chris served us and he was very professional and efficient.
We will certainly recommend the restaurant to family and friends as well as returning ourselves.
First class night out and we would recommend this to any one .
We went for the 7 course tasting menu with matching wines. Both food and wines were excellent, well matched and well presented. The service was very attentive and efficient if a little impersonal and lacking warmth. But the overall experience was very enjoyable if rather expensive.
Service was perfect and the food exceptional. I would recommend this restaurant.
