Although initially disappointed that the a la carte menu was not available we were incredibly happy with the excellent food, service and overall experience; the three-course-for-£25 menu was great value and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit
Booked for an Anniversary, surprised to find the Restaurant Offers still on, enjoyed a three-course meal at a Reasonable price. The Portions were on the small side but exquisite taste and quality. service faultless and we were made to feel welcome. Thank you to all the Staff.
Fantastic Sunday lunch with family. Excellent food & service and great value. Looking forward to our next meal!
Very good service and pleasant food , nice location and excellent ambiance.
Can’t fault that dining experience in anyway.
Keep up the good work !!
Will be visiting again soon.
We visited during restaurant week when there was a set price menu £20 for 3 courses and this may have been the problem but we felt especially the main courses were very small and nothing special. We had a chicken dish which was supposed to have a hazelnut dressing but was just 2 small plain pieces of chicken, a tiny portion of mashed potato and a few green beans. No sign of any hazelnut flavour. The cod with peanut curry was nice but basically just fish with a tiny bit of cabbage and a small bit of peanut sauce, no rice and not a complete dish. Service was a bit abrupt, all cutlery etc was whipped off the table at lightening speed until in the end we felt they were worried we were going to take it home. The lemon posset dessert was the highlight but overall we felt disappointed and would not return.
Always a good time there. Food is gorgeous, nice and the staff always make sure everything with your meal is fine. Highly recommend the place
Lovely afternoon catching up with my friend. Food great , service good, very busy on a lunch time on this occasion.
Good food let down by poor service and rude staff.
Complained and they didn't care, didn't ask what was wrong or how they could fix it.
Excellent pea soup and fine mussels. Attractive environment in the old town and near the river.
Excellent service, waiter was really friendly, knew who ordered what.
Only issue was a mistake on the menu over gluten free option but was picked up very quickly by waiter and alternative came out straight away.
We booked as part of restaurant week in Newcastle. Lunch consisted of 3 courses and I had their matching wines as a treat. service was very good and lady wrote down the names of the wines and where i might purchase them. Food was very nice and whole experience very enjoyable.
Excellent service,tasty elegant food,thoroughly enjoyable
Service was outstanding, food was top quality. I will definitely return.
Superb food. Good value set lunch
First visit. Very impressed
Good variety even on set menu - satisfies a mix of carnivores, veggies and vegans. Great service, and 2 for 1 deal is just such good value. Thanks for a lovely evening
The food was excellent and it felt like a special occasion. The service was very good. The little extras (pre-dessert for example) made it special also. However, we did ask for, ‘tap water’ and were poured a glass from a bottle which we were charged for. I had also booked for our anniversary so it would have been nice to have had a little something special for the occasion at the end of the meal, but it didn’t spoil the evening. We would definitely return.
Lovely evening for our, ‘Silver Wedding Anniversary.’
Amazing Great Exhibition of the North menu-2 delicious courses for £10. We had a lovely waitress though service altogether was a little slow. Definitely recommend for this offer.
We received excellent service as soon as we arrived for our Saturday lunch, and staff met the perfect balance of being relaxed yet attentive. The food options were very well thought out - esp for the veggie/vegan options, which were much more creative than usual! Opting for the Great Exhibition of the North menu meant is was incredible value for money - would highly recommend!
Congratulations to the Chef and the team, such a nice dinner.
Fresh products from an english producer.
Lovely food, excellent quality very good product matching.
It deserves a Michelin Star.
This was our second visit and the food was excellent. We were celebrating our sons birthday. Staff were attentive despite dealing with a large group. We were allowed to relax and chat between courses and nothing was rushed. Drinks are a little pricy but prepared and served well. For a special occasion I highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered from the al a carte menu however there is an early evening set menu which is cheaper. Next time we would like to try the taster menu which is pared with wine.
A Lunchtime birthday meal was made special by the friendly attentive staff who looked after our every need.
Great food and attentive, helpful service in very pleasant surroundings. Steaks were excellent! Not too crowded or noisy, but just right to provide a nice atmosphere and sense of occasion.
Food was very poor despite previous visit. Girlfriends starter and main were incredibly small consisting of chicken legs. Very expensive and lack of attention for waitress. Took 3 hours for all food to arrive
My brother who, was born in Corbridge, emigrated to Australia in 1967, and was this week visiting family in Corbridge and friends in Alnwick. After trying another two Quayside restaurants for dinner last Friday, neither could oblige with either a table or suitable time. I therefore made further researches and rang Dodson & Parnell who said yes to table numbers, time and date. What an absolutely brilliant experience it proved to be. There was a welcome as soon as we entered. Danielle, who took charge of our table, soon impressed us with her knowledgeable responses and advice about the various questions we asked in respect of both food and wines on your menu. Whilst we later learned that she had gained a First in her University Degree course, we felt that we would award her another First in Restaurant Service for our experience last Friday. My brother was astonished to discover that there could be such a Restaurant in Newcastle which offered such an excitingly different menu, followed by an equally outstanding presentation of all courses we chose, and served with the best of professional skills. We have already recommended D&P to friends and will have no hesitation in continuing to do so. Thank you everyone for making our evening so memorable.
The occasion was my son's graduation - we called the restaurant to check the time we had booked and they were very accommodating offering to delay the booking to give us more time.
The staff and service was very good - attentive but also not rushing us.
Food was excellent and the additional tasters/amuse bouche were an added bonus. At the end of the meal we were brought a slate with 'Congratulations' written on it and some pieces of fudge which was an unexpected surprise.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Our first visit. We were very impressed. The small spoonfuls of pre-starter and pre-dessert were a nice touch. Staff efficient and friendly but please leave us to refill our glasses ourselves. We'll be back.
The party of 4 (one a vegetarian) was very happy with the meal (2 for 1).
We particularly enjoyed the tasters between courses.
Coffees were expensive.
We have been to Dobson and Parnell on 4 separate occasions now and this time I wanted to share the experience with my parents. We chose a Tuesday as D and P has some great mid week offers on and we were not disappointed. The prix fixe menu is excellent value and does not disappoint, we were also treated to delicious bread and 2 amuse bouche mini courses too. The wine selection at the restaurant is excellent (we went for the Prunus Dao) and followed our meal with a cocktail each, I had the lemon meringue martini which was insanely good. The service in D and P is always spot on and this was no exception. I look forward to returning again soon.
Very good service and excellent food. Would highly recommend.
Exquisite food, very reasonably priced (Sunday lunch menu - £19 for 3 courses) and outstanding service (waiter in the orange tie was particularly attentive).
Amazing food, lovely service and an overall great atmosphere!
Both food and service with top standard, didn’t feel rushed at all and wait staff were very friendly and attentive without being overly so. Food was outstanding, would definitely come back. Thank you!
Very pleasant lunch, complimentary water was a nice touch, staff attentive but not intrusive, ambiance great, great to see gluten free options available.
Thank you so much for our lunch on Sunday it was out of this world.
Will definately be back again.
Super meal, environment and service. Would highly recommend. Had a special night for our Wedding Anniversary.
Booked a table for my mums special birthday and arranged for a gift voucher to be on the table for her arrival. Food excellent and customer service outstanding from the moment I made the enquiry right through to the minute they left the restaurant, the team really went the extra mile to make it a great dining experience, I just wish I’d been there too! Definitely recommend!
Lovely restaurant we had the great north exhibition set menu which was 3 courses for £25. Every course was exceptional super tasty. My husband had the black pudding, steak and the cheese to finish. I had the salmon, black cod and Eton mess. The flavours and ingredients all exceptional and beautifully balanced. The staff were friendly and let me taste a couple of their white wine’s -I think they would of let me taste them all. Great value for money we felt spoilt. Will definitely try again next time we visit.
As usual, really good food and lovely service
Went here for our first anniversary meal, food was outstanding, service was good alittle slow but we weren’t in any hurry so didn’t affect us.
We had mentioned prior it was for our anniversary however they did not mention this to us which was alittle disappointing.
