Lovely evening thanks the food and service was very good even though there was mistakes with our order it was rectified quickly .
Birthday meal for my partner. Nice touch of complimentary fizz on arrival. Three course meal from set menu would have been good value even without the 2 for 1 Tuesday offer. Will definitely be returning even at full price.[ Will try and fit in Restaurant week if possible].
To summarise - a very pleasant evening out.
the Tuesday 2 for 1 offer is unbelievable value for such high quality food
Our first visit and will be returning soon.. quality food and style..
Lovely well cooked food in a pleasant environment. Very relaxed service, great if you are there to enjoy your evening and fully appreciate the food, don’t go if you are on a tight timetable!
I met with four friends for post Christmas "fizz and two small plates" lunch. There weren't many people in the restaurant but there was nice background music. The decor is lovely and the service we had was excellent and very friendly. We enjoyed the food although a few items were cold and maybe not too good.
We had the early evening menu so our meal was great value and the service was good too. I will definitely be heading back.
Amazing food, everything tasted great and were great with dietary needs
The lunch was excellent, creative menu, flavoursome food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, professional and discreet customer service, good wine list, stylish restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. An excellent choice
At the point of arrival, there was no front of house staff to greet us. Shown to our table where there was grease marks on the walls next to us, and four food flies.
Ordered a bottle of wine (which was lovely), though warm.. and 'mineral water'. Again, the water was luke warm, most probably tap water in a branded glass bottle which was grubby. Still, £3.95 charge. We decided to order the tasting menu, which certainly wasn't up to fine dining standards, although the price reflected otherwise. Our dessert was sent to another table, after they had just been served their starter. We were given the wrong cutlery for our cheese course. Which was corrected by another front of house member. Overall the restaurant lacked attention to detail all around, and for over £150 it certainly was not worth the money.
We had the 5 course tasting menu with matched wine and it was absolutely fantastic. the food was amazing, in particular the beef dish and the chocolate dessert.
We were 8, including 2 teenagers celebrating a 70th birthday. The staff wers brilliant, very attentive and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the day we went the fiisherman had not delivered fish to the restaurant, which cut the menu almost in half. This was a real shame and seriously minimised choice. However, everyone enjoyed their food, which was very well presented and tasty. We felt it was good value for money for a special meal. Would definitely return.
Fantastic, seasonal menu for New year's eve but not overpriced. Great understated service and great food. Will definitely return, hopefully soon!
The whole evening was lovely even the gift of a free glass of champagne as it was my birthday, the service wasn't faultless the waiter we had was pleasant and welcoming , and the food was delicious the Christmas menu was a little small and had some ingredients we weren't familiar with but still tasty. Only comment I could make on the night was that we weren't told the water for the table wasn't free and when it came to the bill it was confusing, as service chanrge and vat were put there so it made it hard to split the bill in half. But all in all a lovely experience and great for a special occasion.
Very attentive staff and lovely food and drink. Any problems sorted efficiently and professionally.
First visit and overall great experience. The only disappointment was a large group of families who failed to make their boisterous children behave, they shouted relentlessly at each other and at no time did any of the parents ask them to pipe down. Difficult for the staff, but as I looked around the restaurant I could see most of the other diners were annoyed by them. The manager should have asked them to quieten down, bearing in mind the type of restaurant this is and it was a late evening booking. It took the shine off what was an otherwise great experience.
Have been here before and was excellent. On this occasion it was the Christmas set menu. Bits of it were good, other bits not good (eg burned brioche, burned skin on duck). Service was slow. Maybe this was just a very busy night for them. Would still recommend based on previous experiences but they need to improve on this last meal.
Birthday celebration, food excellent nice ambiance
Out for a friends birthday, great food and excellent service
Loved this place for lunch. Everything was great. The only thing for my personal taste, was food could have been bit hotter. However this didn't spoil enjoyment 😋
Family Christmas meal
Excellent night spent at this restaurant with 5 of my friends for my birthday. Even though only Xmas menu available the food was delicious and a good choice available. It’s not cheap, but excellent for a special occasion, well worth that little extra! The staff were brilliant too, so welcoming and knowledgeable. A lovely evening had by all.
Great Xmas meal and a lovely friendly atmosphere. The staff were attentive without being fussy. We particularly enjoyed the black pudding starter and the selection of cheese my favourite however had to be the old school rice pudding with Christmas fruits
Excellent ‘festive’ lunch with good food and a calm atmosphere (until a large party arrived.....but then it’s Christmas and we were about to leave anyway).
We enjoyed traditional and fish options.
First time here, but will definitely go again.
Visited on Sunday for festive lunch. Fab menu that offered something for everyone in our party - from foodies who like to to experiment to our elderly gent with cautious palette (he loved it!) Service was fantastic and everyone works hard to ensure you feel relaxed and welcome.
Nice food. Good ambience. Perhaps being on the picky side, but I'm not a fan of over-attentive service staff and this was the case here. While polite and efficient, having your wine topped up at regular intervals to entice you to buy more is not my idea of great service.
This is my second visit in a few months so I was happy to come again with family for a pre- concert meal. The group were impressed with the decor and general atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The ambiance was special. Not to noisy at all. The menu selection for a Christmas menu was very good.
Great meal, local produce, friendly and professional service
We had a fabulous meal - of special note delicious main courses and desserts. Great choice of wine, and it's great to have a choice of wines in 500ml as well as 750ml sizes. Service outstanding, friendly, efficient and accommodating.
Very pleasant night overall. Friendly staff although perhaps a little understaffed.
My boyfriend and I visited the restaurant last Friday on our anniversary and had the taster menu.
Amazing food, we had the wine pairing (great choice), all the staff were extremely polite and friendly, especially our waitress! Would definitely recommend!
Lovely food and wine, service was professional and friendly.
Great small plate menu for lunch!
What a fantastic place. Wonderful food and great service. All the staff were so friendly and professional. I will certainly revisit in the near future
Great staff and service
Good food, good service but expensive saying that would visit again bit not as good value as peace and loaf for me
Good service good food good place
Went for my husbands birthday and throughly enjoyed. Great service and food. I am also gluten free and nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly be back.
Excellent food. Really friendly staff. Busy but relaxed atmosphere. Will be back!
We were made to feel very welcome and were given some tasty sourbread while we perused the menu. That was just as well as it took too long for someone to come back to take our order even though it wasn’t very busy. The Sunday lunch once it arrived was cooked well and was delicious but the beef was extremely thin and the portion size rather sparse. In comparison the Yorkshire puddings were massive! Overall, we did enjoy it and would probably go again.
