Had traditional afternoon tea was nice, but scone a little dry
Staff excellent, good service
We had a voucher for a traditional tea for two but decided to upgrade one of them to a savoury for an extra £5 and I can honestly say they were both fabulous! The food was tasty, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff couldn't have done enough to make our anniversary treat very special. I would definitely recommend this place
Lovely place for afternoon tea, extremely busy which is understandable with it being such a wonderful place. From booking, I thought it was actually in Doddington Hall, not the tearooms, but it was still a nice place. Afternoon Tea was OK, not consistent though with other afternoon teas that were sitting next to and around us, some got a selection of mixed berries, some just got strawberries, some got floral pretty decorations, we didn't get any of those.. so compared, ours looked plain, which was a shame as i feel effort should be made for every single afternoon tea, not just a chosen selection or dependent on the chef putting it together. Staff were wonderful and attentive, no fault there at all. Overall nice, probably wouldn't visit again though. Some lovely shops surrounding the tearooms that are worth a look.
Enjoyed the stay but obviously had a slight wait for Covid cleaning which was fine. My only comment was being a wheelchair user I had to wait at the restaurant door instead the normal step entrance, and numerous waitress keep walking by ignoring me until noticed me out of the corner of her eye and asked if she could help so told her I had a booking. I did mention on the booking that I was a wheelchair user with family; however, once we were seated the service was very good so tipped £10. In summary, very good afternoon tea, but felt I was ignored whilst lots of others customers were seated before me, until a nice waitress noticed me at the other door.
Very well presented and excellent service all done with a smile!
Impressed with the value of the food which was efficiently served and in pleasant surroundings. By way of slight criticism we thought the sandwiches were served a little too cold and the egg and cress sandwich should be improved, not least with seasoning and more egg. The staff were all very pleasant and obliging.
Sandwiches very small and apart from the ham and chutney all tasted very similar. Scone not as nice as previous ones in the normal restaurant. Cakes again have had nicer in the normal restaurant.
Presented beautifully and lovely waitress and another waitress had to ask us to move from our table as our time must have been up, but did it very well.
This is my first Afternoon Tea at Doddington. I am Gluten Free not by choice and I was expecting my sandwich, scone and cake to be the same high standard/portion as I have experienced in the cafe previously but it just had a bit of a mass produced feel/packaged feel.
I have had some really nice homemade snacks/cakes/scones and meals in your cafe in the past and would recommend to friends however after these good experiences I was disappointed in the Afternoon Tea.
Had afternoon tea for my mother in laws birthday. We had a great time. Could have stayed there for hours. The food was gorgeous. Atmospheric lovely.
Thank you to the lovely girls who served us also :)
The service & atmosphere was excellent. The disappointment was the sandwiches there was nothing special about them. Plain tuna mayo, cream cheese & cucumber very bland, plain egg mayo, boring, ham with some chutney was ok. The sausage roll was also disappointing too much pastry & not enough filling. Not worth £3 & would have been nicer warm. It would be nice if the sandwiches were served with more garnish like egg & cress or spinach. Tuna with cucumber or red onion & smoked salmon with the cream cheese. All the cakes were very nice. Personally would have preferred more sandwiches & less cakes. Overran I enjoyed it but have had better for the same price
Our party of 4 went for afternoon tea yesterday a gift that had been brought for me. The room itself is lovely, small but really personal. The waitresses were lovely, our afternoon tea was brought straight out and 2 pots of tea which were refilled as soon as we asked. The sandwiches were lovely and fresh and the cakes were lovely especially the Bakewell tart. We didn’t finish it all but were given a box to take the rest home. Would definitely recommend the afternoon and will return one day soon.
Fabulous treat for my husbands birthday-he was delighted with the Savoury version which we haven’t seen on offer anywhere else.
Delicious food and very accommodating. Amazing scones and afternoon T. They have lots of choice for everyone whether sweet or savoury. Will visit again most definitely as have been several times already.
Was lovely venue great service,,, felt rushed at the end as we wanted to have another drink,,, but closed at 4,
Went for afternoon tea for a wedding Anniversary celebration. Food was amazing and the staff attentive and polite. We will definately be returning.
Lovely afternoon tea! Staff were very friendly and helpful. A little on the pricey side but the quality and ambience makes up for it.
This was my grandson's birthday gift to me and it certainly lived up to expectations. Everything was so fresh - I had the sweet option and my husband the savoury. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. I would certainly recommend afternoon tea at Doddington to anyone. The staff were most attentive and looked after us well.
Staff very good , unfortunately the scones with the afternoon tea were not good
Doddington Hall for afternoon tea is smashing. The choice of sweet and savoury foods are beautifully made and presented. Above all else the waitress who was in charge that day, 08.09, went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and the chef was adaptable too. We really appreciated their high level of service.
We had an afternoon tea with a voucher bought for us as a present last Christmas.
The sandwiches were very nice.
The cream scones were hard on the outside. Scones should be soft and fluffy.
With afternoon tea I would expect to have sponge cakes of different flavours, cup cakes or similar cakes. What we got was mostly tray bakes. A big disappointment.
The service was excellent and couldn’t be faulted.
The welcome, service and food were lovely. My only suggestion would have been a little more bread for the cheese/pate and a fork (there was only a pastry fork). Delicious!
Really enjoyable experience. Belated birthday gift. Good food, excellent service, nice surroundings. Recommended.
I would recommend having an afternoon tea at this wonderful venue. Although a little expensive the choice is good. Everyone is friendly and staff helpful .
Enjoyed afternoon tea at Doddington. Sandwiches, tea and scones all lovely. Slightly disappointed at selection of cakes. But too full by then so took them home. Very capable of providing for gluten free needs. Tea selection good.
Overall setting adjacent to the Hall, gardens and farm shop just perfect. Excellent place for a day out whatever time of year. Lovely at Christmas, booking essential.
Combine with a walk around the estate area to work up an appetite. Don’t miss the lovely kitchen garden if it’s open.
Recommend to follow Doddington Hall online to make sure you don’t miss out on events, always lots to see and never seems too crowded.
order to receiving food was 50mins. Three tables arrived after us and received food before us.
food was overpriced
We where made to feel welcome the service was excellent and the afternoon tea was delicious. Very polite waitresses will definitely return in the future
Great menu choices, lovely setting, and tasty food!
Excellent and different food. We had savoury option. Next time we will try the cream tea. It looked delicious.
Chose Doddington hall with a friend who used to live in Lincoln as we have always enjoyed the shops and have eat there before. The afternoon tea experience was disappointing as it just did not feel special as has been my experience of other afternoon teas.
Nice place but thought the savoury afternoon tea was way overpriced for what we were given…£25 for 2 pieces of pork pie, half a scotch egg, 1 small sausage roll, I slice of pate, 1 slice of cheese, 2 slices of bread, pickle & a few dressed lettuce leaves, 1 slice of bake well tart and a pot of tea. I don’t see the added value of £5 in comparison to the standard afternoon tea which appeared to be much better value.
We had a lovely time, I had the Traditional Afternoon Tea and my husband had the Savoury one and we shared them.
Lovely place to visit and the staff are really friendly.
Lovely afternoon tea, beautiful quaint tea room.
Lovely food, service was brilliant, staff were super friendly and were always on hand should you need anything.
Great food, beautifully served. Tearoom is clean, wonderful atmosphere, staff very attentive too. It was an amazing treat for us and my friend thoroughly enjoyed her birthday treat.
Day out with the granddaughters Excellent afternoon tea
Lovely tea room ambiance, great food and service. Good place to visit and walk around foot paths. Highly recommended
Friendly staff, wasps very annoying. You may to think about putting up fly screens
The whole experience of the afternoon tea for 7 was absolutely fantastic.
After visiting the house and gardens we enjoyed afternoon tea in the cafe.
Everything was really nice especially the savoury tea.
Plenty selection abs lots to eat I’m pleased we were all hungry and we still left with ‘doggy bags’ with excess treats to take home, good value for money.
Food was beautiful as usual and staff amazing but unfortunately due to a wedding we had to wait so long . Only two staff to about 40 people ( may I add the staff were very nice and well mannered ) tea was cold when we finally got the milk . Am sure it’s just a one off and this wouldn’t deter us from visiting soon .
Booking time was late because staff clearing up after previous sitting.
Service very slow and kept having to ask for things that were missing. Staff very nice and polite. Had problems with wasps.
