It's always a double edge sword when I go to a fully vegetarian restaurant as I have more than three or four choices.

Everyone person who we encountered in Down the Hatch had a smile and a quick word for us.

The food was great. We split appetizers: an order of grilled halloumi and one of the battered mushrooms. Both were gone in minutes.

We also split 'burgers, with my mum getting the falafel and me something I can't remember. A bean burger with sourcraut

Our first time at 'Down The Hatch' - as a vegetarian with a gluten allergy, it was unfortunately very restrictive for me. I had hoped, as most of the menu is burgers and 'dowgs' - it may have had gluten free buns.
The burger without the bun was good and the chips too.
The 'nachos' were disappointing, as they were actually fries covered in cheese etc.
The service was very good and the ambience too.

Been meaning to try here for ages! When we finally got round to visiting it didn't disappoint! The whole menu is catered for vegetarian/vegan. Was quiet weird having so much choice from a menu for a change. Really want to go back and try more options. The deep Fried halloumi sticks with sweet chili are so good!

My experience at Down the Hatch was really good. I had been waiting to try all the vegan options for a while and had read up on the restaurant prior to attending. I was not disappointed and my experience more than lived up to expectations.

The service was great and the food was excellent.

Had a fantastic meal at Down the Hatch with my wife and 3 kids earlier this week. Had a table booked for 7.30pm, but the event we were attending before finished early so we cheekily asked if we could have a table at 6.30pm. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and sorted us a table straight away which was ace. Food and service were out of this world. We all loved it and agreed that Down the Hatch would be our No.1 restaurant from now on, which is saying a lot coming from my 10 year old twins who can’t agree on anything!! Thanks guys, we had a boss time!!

As vegans we had been keen to try Down the Hatch and had heard fantastic reviews. The reality exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is a hidden gem, deceptive from the outside, when you get inside it has a warm relaxed feel and really great atmosphere. Service was great and loved that everything on the menu was vegan unless stated otherwise. Food was amazing and really reasonable. The burgers and strips where great and good portion sizes. The food is really high quality and there are a great selection of beers and wine. Can't wait to return.

Down The Hatch is a favourite of mine and my boyfriends. We’ve been plenty of times and will carry on being regular customers. The service is excellent, the staff are very friendly and give good advice if you’re not sure what to try. The menu is extensive with lots of choice and is around 90% vegan.

Down The Hatch are always coming up with new things for the menu including the vegan gravy (I think it’s the best gravy I’ve ever tasted!).

Lovely atmosphere, great food, not stingy on the portions either! The new 'dawgs' on the menu are very tasty, can't wait to go back and try some of the other new veggie delights on the menu. As an aside the ladies loos are a treat with deodorant, body spray, hairspray and other vital needs available- just in case.

I can recommend this restaurant to parties of different dietary tastes.
I took my two children, one of whom has recently gone Vegetarian.
I picked this restaurant, as, there was still options for my other child who is not a Vegetarian.

Great veggie / vegan dining in Liverpool with some original ideas. The staff (Rikki especially) were very friendly and helpful. Booking recommended as we visited on a damp Tuesday in late November and the place was busy. Having walked past 20+ restaurants on the way which were either completely or almost empty that says something! 100% recommended.

No good for gluten free options as they do not have a dedicated separate fryer plus the gf nacho option isn’t gf as they’ve changed their supplier. Only 2 options on the menu salad or stir fry. Disappointed.
Amazing vegan options which could be gf friendly if there wasn’t a cross contamination issue. Shame.
Staff were on it though and very informed and service was exceptional.
All vegans should go. GF vegans should avoid.

Excellent night spent at Down the Hatch. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 2 year anniversary, and as we are both vegetarians it can be hard to find places we will both enjoy when planning our dates. Down the Hatch was the perfect option as we were able to eat everything on the menu, very rare! The food was lovely, too. Very filling and it is very obvious it is hand-cooked to perfection. Although the wait on our food was longer than anticipated, our server was incredible at making sure we were comfortable and couldn’t apologise enough. He even gave us a free round of drinks to make up for our time which was very kind and unexpected! All the staff were incredible, smiles all round. They really went out of their way to make our anniversary a special one.
Thanks guys!
