Doyles on the Beach
Food overpriced and the waiter looked at me in disbelief when I asked to order 15 minutes after trying to get attention of a staff member
Ordered the hot and cold platter $159.00. Smoked salmon was externally Smokey in flavour, and salt and pepper calamari was very tender but also externally peppery in taste. My wife and I left a little disappointed. Value for money just was not there
food was exceptional and service was good - but we were seated in the upstairs area which is bare and lacks character. I must remember to request the downstairs original seating area.
seafood platter is not that good as before. not good value!
Always enjoyable when attending Doyles! Excellent service, menu and delicious food ...
The barramundi was fantastic. The sticky date pudding was also lovely.
Bringing my wife for a special meal as she has pancreatic cancer and only months to live, I hoped the price wasn’t so exorbitant. With 4 children we were hoping to have an unforgettable day but the price didn’t equate to the standard of the food. Over priced. Over hyped. Won’t be back and very disappointed.
Food was amazing best view location romantic just service wasn’t that good staff forgot to take our order correctly missed dish
we love coming here for special occasions. A table near the beach was ideal. The fish was superb, and the service outstanding. We'll be back soon
Food was good, we didnt have to wait much considering that it was quiet full. Service wasnt great, they took so long to bring us water and take our order, the waitress didnt look exactly happy to be working and every time we called them they made us feel like we were bothering them.
another point I consider important is how the beach was that day, of course the view is a PLUS and the beach was absolutly dirty, full of plastic because of the tide. I think the restaurants in fron of the beach should be keep it clean and not be waiting for environmentalists groups to go there and the the job for them.
Beautiful, fresh food. Really enjoyed my meal. Service was great.
Seafood platter was unbelievable, can’t wait to go back.
Great meal as always just wish our waitress hadn’t been sucking lemons thought she was doing us a favour by being there but the food and ambience was brilliant thank you
The establishment at Watson's Bay has proved its worth by the longevity of operation.
The venue is set in a perfect positionfor a seafood restaurant and the food, the service and the whole experience is a magnet to go back again and again.
We had a 2:30pm booking (latest lunch booking possible). It was clear when we arrived that they wanted us to rush our time there. Straight away we were told "I just need to get your food order straight away so I can tell the kitchen before they close". We were followed up 5-6 times to see if we had finished eating, clearly to rush us. As a wedding anniversary lunch it felt rushed and not very special. We love Doyles and the food was amazing as always but we won't book that late again. Disappointing.
A noisy group of customers disturbed our dinner with a drunk customer causing trouble. I ordered lobster, bbq prawns and garlic bread but the restaurant had sold out. I was very dissapointed with this as Doyles was renowned for their seafood and I specifically came for the lobster!
After this I don't think we will be returning nor will I be recommending this place in light of the fact.
Saturday was the most beautiful day , the weather was perfect and the food and service was impeccable 😊
If you are looking for a lovely seafood meal(especially lobster), I would recommend Doyle’s for a special occasion. The lobster was delicious!
Food was good. Service was lack lustre and unfortunately the family inside sent all their kids outside to play amongst the other guests, unfortunately when mentioning it the staff said sorry nothing we can do.
With social distancing in place, the noise level was much lower than on our many previous visits. Much appreciated!
We had not been to Doyles for quite a while and after a delightful experience, we will return more often. We were very pleased to find a reserved parking area. On a Monday, for lunch, there was plenty of space, despite the beautiful sunny day. That may not be the case on a Sunday in summer, but it. is good to know that it is there.
Perfect venue food perfect excellent service view is perfect
They need a little help on pouring wine.... we ordered a bottle of Tyrrells Vat 47 Chardonnay and the kind lady poured the entire bottle out...instead of the correct pour
What a wonderful view to take in whilst eating wonderful food
Excellent seafood and a lovely harbourside setting. It was really quiet because of COVID restrictions and it being a rainy winters day, but still a great spot for a nice lunch. Outdoor heaters and weather screens meant we could sit on the terrace in the middle of winter and enjoy the harbour views. Fish (Barramundi) was cooked to perfection and the side salad of rocket, pear and Parmesan was wonderful. Service was quiet, friendly and efficient - a nice touch was that every single dish for the table came out of the kitchen together, so no waiting for other people to get their food! Will definitely go back.
Food was great. Service not so great. We were not offered water and had to ask. We were not offered drinks following our initial drink.
First meal out since lockdown deserved a special place and Doyle’s didn’t disappoint. Our server was just excellent...professional, charming and friendly in all the right measures. Food delicious. My pasta with seafood was the best I e ever had. Ambience a little impacted by the reduced numbers of diners.
A little cold and sterile. Staff were amazing. Despite not being able to have the garlic prawns as a main the food was nice and fresh.
Post Covid lockdown dinner with friends awesome as always great seafood and wine. Service was great, the view and ambience was a welcome relief. Thank you everyone at Doyle’s for a lovely night out
We purchased the platter which we expected to get a variety like on the website menu. For $169 the choices weren’t that great , food was standard on this occasion. We have gone to fish market Doyle’s for many years now and on this occasion we have been turned off. Location and service was nice which helped but the limited food choices and price for what we got could not be justified.
Food & service is excellent but the prices have gone up
Due to the virus, only 5 couples were attending and we were seated down in the annex which was most comfortable. The service was attentive, the fish meal was cooked to perfection and the wine we chose, with the assistance of the waiter, was excellent.
We have eaten at Doyles on previous occasions and we always return because of the service and the excellent seafood menu.
Wonderful location. The seafood paella was excellent. Staff friendly & helpful
Definitely a lovely place for a special celebration meal
Fabulous way to celebrate my husbands 50th great service great food !! Great venue
We had a lovely lunch, the wait staff were friendly and helpful. I don't even eat seafood and my lunch was wonderful! I would highly recommend the food, ambience and location for any type of occasion.
The food was lovely, Barramundi and chips, well presented and cooked, portion size ok, price at $49.90 has to make it the most expensive fish and chips anywhere in the world. We were upstairs, nice view, table service was ok, got the desert menu and then no one came to take an order, asked once and still no one came so we left and paid the bill.
I first went to Doyles in 1988, then it had a real quaint feel about it, very personal service, prices then were expensive, but not to todays level. Now I am afraid the experience feels more like a corporate restaurant, it has lost the quaintness- maybe it was inevitable and a victim of its own original success. Sadly I probably won't be back as there are better seafood alternatives in Darling Harbour.
Would recommend this iconic venue to all visitors to Sydney. Have been 3 times this week.
The best fish pie I have ever had in my life!!!!!!
We were greeted warmly and professionally with water being offered upon being seated. After ordering both food and drinks, the food arrived after approx. 10 minutes followed shortly by drinks. We all agreed that the fish we each had was superb and the chips were lovely. Service throughout was excellent and the waiter interacted with us with manners and humour. We enjoyed our experience and our friends from England were very impressed indeed. Congratulations.
