Everything was so great! We really enjoyed it!
As a discerning diner, I had high expectations. Perhaps I should have read the lowest reviews first as they pretty much reflected my experience. The setting did nothing effectively to reflect the 'architectural history'. One gets the impression of 'confused' efforts(odd mish mash of pseudo Christian symbolisms) . Service matched that 'confused effort' as it took 3 members of staff to answer a question asked about a cocktail. Tables too small and close together. Ill-chosen music at high volume did not aid conversation. The food?! Seems more effort was put into the arty crockery than the actual cooking! My local takeaway has more texture and flavour. Was very off putting to see a waiter being shown how to carve 'the duck' very close to our table; can't imagine what the finished product was like for the intended diners. Would most definitely NOT recommend this restaurant at atrocious prices which do not translate into value for money. Wish I could give it 0 stars.
The waiter was very attentive, my friend couldn't eat mushroom and my daughter is lactose-intolerance, the waiter made all the effort to check with the chef that all meals consisted no mushroom and dairy-free. He even top up our tea consistently with hot water. Had a fantastic time!
I'd recommend it to people that want delicious food but the service was so wonky. No-one to order a drink from and then took half an hour to bring three cocktails and a beer when we were one of only three tables occupied in the place for Sunday lunch (there were plenty of staff nattering by the coat-check). So, food is wonderful and staff very pleasant when they serve your table but nowhere to be seen at other times. A bit of a shame as it's expensive and smart.
Much better meal than last time. Service was faster, the table was better the ones upstairs are a little too small.
Second visit to this excellent venue. From the fantastic building to the awesome food this is a must visit venue. By far the best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten in.
Only negative is the excessively expensive wine list.......no need !
Extremely slow, inept service - best exemplified by cocktails taking 15+ mins to arrive and buying a bottle of wine, only to have two different waiters bring us different bottles
Excellent classic dishes with service to match. Highly recommend.
Good service, very good food, a little pricey, nice setting if not a little noisy
Excellent Peiking Duck, followed by Dim Sum and a great dessert!
Unfortunately the food was quite salty. The service was excellent and a lovely restaurant.
WONDERFUL AMAZING EXPERIENCE WILL COME BACK SOON
THE SERVICE WAS INCREDIBLE, FANTASTIC WAITERS AND WAITRESS
It’s was amazing lovely’s food and service good restaurant
Overpriced and bad service.
Was absolutely fantastic
For the money it wasn’t worth it. I’ve had far better Chinese food for a lot less money.
For the cost of this restaurant, the service was very unsatisfactory - very slow, disjointed and a business lunch became over 2 hours because we hadn’t been served our mains - we had to chase for them as big gap between starters and mains. The dim sum were very nice but the mains overpriced for what they offered. The restaurant is beautiful - probably best appreciated at night - could do with being better lit on a gloomy day. I would recommend it if you stick to the set menu which looks to be very good value. We were entertaining a client so couldn’t offer that. I was really looking forward to trying Duddell’s and was sadly disappointed. If I went back it would be at night but not sure they offer a set menu in the evening so wouldn’t justify the cost a la Carte for me. Enjoyed the dim sum!
Amazing... food took its time, but overall smooth and very exciting experience
Brilliant food, slightly pricey, but atmosphere is pretty dull
This was my second time at Duddell's. Food was disappointing, with the exception of the steamed dumplings although they weren't extraordinary and the whole thing rather overpriced. Our bill came to £162 for 2 and we'd had 3 dumplings each, a main dish, and a shared dessert with a couple of glasses of wine.
Absolutely amazing food, excellent but unstuffy service, fantastic ambience. Already trying to work out when we can go back!
Duddell's is a lovely place, nice and quiet at time we went 2.30 for lunch.
Only thing that let it down was the starters came out separately. I had nearly finished mine, chicken dumplings, we had to ask where the other start was.
Once it arrived it was very good, king crab with asparagus soup.
Before my husband had got even half way through his soup the mains turned up. Beef in black pepper ( which was cold and had to be cooked again) ,egg fried rice, pak choi in garlic and dry rubbed pork loin.
The mains where tasty and we finished with strawberry panacotta.
Excellent food just shame can't get the timings right so that we could eat together.
Will go again in the evening next time to see what it is like then.
Wonderful surprise. The food is outstanding. Dim Sum super. Ribs amazing. Cocktails really excellent.
Great dim sums! Food was really good and a great place to visit.Service was a little slow.
It was ok but we had higher expectations
A terribly overpriced meal with really unattentive service and pre-made, lukewarm food. It reminded me of airplane food because you can see all the food has been pre-made and simply taken out from a big pot, not made to order as proper chinese food should be. If you would like authentic chinese food, do not visit.
This has to be the most expensive dim sum place in the Uk! There were four of us in our party, yet on each plate of dim sum (£7/£8 each), there were only 3 dim sum/pieces of food. We wouldn’t visit again purely because of the exhorbitant cost of food. A paper dim sum menu was just plonked unceremoniously in front of us by a lacklustre waitress. Can there not be some kind of special meal offer on dim sum so that you feel you’re getting more?
Delicious Dim Sum and Cantonese. Interesting wine list too with some exceptionally expensive wines.
Over all the food and wine was excellent although overall a little pricey... Only go on pay day or when you've had a little lottery win ;-)
It’s a lovely venue. Try to get a table on the ground floor.
Interesting mix of "hip" venue and very good traditional Chinese food.
Humm tricky. The beef and chicken were amazing but the lobster less so and so expensive. The building looks to be struggling with the moisture from cooking.
Not sure about returning.
Food was ok but nothing was amazing. For the price you pay it definitely isn’t worth it
We really enjoyed our experience at Duddell's London, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. We enjoyed a lovely evening in the beautiful old church at St.Thomas' and we would definitely visit again. We had excellent wine and the cost was expensive but good value for money. Thank you for a lovely time.
Consistent quality of food and ala carte dishes seems to be bigger in quantity compared to the set lunch menu dishes.
Venue and food great. The only thing I would say if I was being super fussy, is that we had to get a waiter’s attention on more than one occasion.
Very Good food and atmosphere, price : pretty expensive.
Nevertheless great experience !
Delicious Peking duck. Probably one of the best in London
We sat late and no one told us that the kitchen was closing so we couldn’t order more food. For Sunday lunch, they ran out of duck and we got the last half only. It was overcooked and below standard but we were hungry. Just an average meal at eye-watering prices. Ambience isn’t great either.
Nice but nothing special, you mainly pay for the location
