At Dumplings’ Legend, they greatly respect this tiny parcel of yummy goodness, sticking to traditional methods but adding a twist. Spicy pork and spicy crayfish may not be new to you – perhaps you’ve had it with rice or in a soup, but in a soup dumpling known in Chinese as a Xiaolongbao? We thought not. That’s because these guys are the first to come up with this clever filling idea and it’s gone down a treat.
But that’s just two of nine options you’ll find on their taste-tingling menu, plus an impressive 47 variations of the much-loved dim sum. All made in their open-plan, glass-walled, kitchen before your very eyes.
In fact, their dumplings are so loved that they make an incredible 8,000 every day – if you were to stack them up, The Shard would cower in their towering shadow.
So, whatever shape and size you’re into, you can bet your bottom dumpling there’ll be something just right for you.

Do not go to this place we booked for 5 adults plus one toddler, the que was out the door, but of course we booked went straight in to be told booking through open table doesn’t count go to the back of the que, we were so embarrassed and with the people we were with , they would not budge on this and then totally ignored us completely!!! Absolutely disgusting, please do not go to this place they should be shut down!!!
I booked a table here for my husbands belated birthday dinner - and when we arrived there was a very large queue for people who had not booked - we went through and advised a table had been booked under the name and they advised they have not used Open Table for over a year! I was confused and annoyed as this was booked over 2 months agos and I had even received an email the day before to confirm we would be coming. I was asked to speak to the manager who then shouted and said she doesnt care and that we should sanitise hands and sit at that table.
When ordering the food - we ticked the dim sums and dumplings, which was the whole point of being there as my husband loves dim sums and dumplings - and chose the pork and Veg ones - but i asked the waiter if he could confirm these would be ok as my husband is allergic to prawns - the waiter came back and we were shocked to hear all of them including the veggie ones had prawns in the sauce to enrich the sauce and give it the flavour. Nowhere on the menu does it say anything about allergies or that even the veggie ones had prawns - which was very disappointing.
Although I had booked, I still needed to wait outside in the cold. When we were seated it took a while for someone to take our order as well.
However, the food was AMAZING!
I had ¼ duck pancakes, vegetable spring rolls and chicken bao buns. Delicious!
Great food, fast service, would definitely recommend!
Dumplings are great. Service not so great. Prices are ok.
With a long queue outside I thought my booking would mean I wouldn’t have to stand outside in the cold. But apparently not. Bookings mean nothing here and you still have to queue outside for 45 minutes with people who didn’t bother booking. A stupid system! When asking the manager why why booking didn’t actually mean anything I was told I could just cancel there on the spot. There really is no customer service or value of the customers. As long as they’re busy and have someone paying on each table they don’t care. The server was also furious when we didn’t want to pay the service charge. Considering there was no service provided I don’t think that should be a problem. Only go if you’re willing to stand outside for 45 minutes even with a booking.
I will never return to this restaurant
They did not honour our booking tonight
I have been coming for years
Rude arrogant staff
Honestly the best food in Soho. I have been going for a decade.
The handmade dim sum is exceptional. My favourite dish is honey roast and BBQ Duck.
One down side is that the staff can be rude - rushing you into the restaurant and rushing you out for a quick turn around. The food comes rapidly though. So if you are hungry and want the best food in Soho quickly, highly recommend. But if you are looking for a calm, ambient and leisurely experience, you may be put off by the staff.
Dumplings are not good. Problem with dough. Fillings as well not vert tasty. Arrived not even steaming warm . I would not eat again dumplings at this place.
An okay meal in Chinatown- however service was slow. Very expensive compared to other restaurants in the area, but food was tasty. Very bright lights, didn’t create nice evening ambience
I had booked a table well in advance. When I arrived I was not asked any details about my reservation and had to wait around 10 minutes until a table was available, defeating the purpose of booking a table.
The service was variable. Some of the waiting staff were friendly, some seemed rude and dismissive.
We had to ask for drinks multiple times before they came. We all received our mains at different times and had to ask where they were, it seemed like they had forgotten some of them.
The food itself was average. I ordered a prawn dish - when I ordered it I specifically asked if it came on a sauce and was like one pictured. I was told yes. It came with no sauce. I enjoyed it, but it was not what I wanted.
The rest of the food was average. The szechuan chicken came really dry, covered in unpleasant peppercorns and did not seem fresh at all.
The dumplings were enjoyable.
Say they don’t accept Opentable reservations anymore. Second time time a month I’ve been made to queue for 30 mins or more.
Poor quality food
And bright canteen style room, loud and rushed
We have visited many times but felt the food was not of the usual standard
Incredible restaurant - the food is just soooo good! Spicy, delicious, authentic - I am a regular here!
We had a great meal with the kids. The staff were really kind and sat us upstairs at a quieter table. The kids loved the duck! And the prawn dumplings. We would probably had the set menu if we didn’t have the kids with us.
Booking doesn’t work beware
They don’t take bookings anymore despite this still being an option on their website. When we did get a table the service was slow and at no point did anyone tell us what was going on (we had to repeatedly get their attention to ask where our food was) or apologise. Some of our food didn’t show up at all, which wasn’t so bad because the dishes that did weren’t very good.
Reservation wasn't recognised, we accepted this after seeing the other Opentable reviews but when asking the staff they were unbelievably rude. One saying/shouting "Just go queue!", "I'm not here don't ask me".
We had seen a good review in timeout so decided to queue. When "showed" to our table, we waited for 30 minutes but were ignored and not even asked if we wanted a drink. By this point we were understandably frustrated and left.
We went to Leongs Legend up the road, much better service and the food was spot on.
Don't bother booking on OpenTable - they don't respect the booking. Everyone will qieie outside regardless.
When we arrived the restaurant basically said they don’t take bookings (despite booking online) and put us in a queue with a lot of people who hadn’t booked. No one came out and we stood there for 15mins and walked away and went somewhere that clearly wanted to serve people and had a much nicer time
They weren’t on open table so we went to our reservation to say they don’t take bookings anymore and we had to queue for 25 mins to get a table.
DO NOT use any Online booking they will NOT honour it. It is walk-ups only. Very disappointing turning up for 'Our confirmed booking' a late Saturday lunch with a very hungry family, to then have to wait 40 mins in line for a table.
They do not except reservations from you and so you have to que for 40 minutes in the cold
You need to take them off top table
Booked. Still had to wait 30 mins for a table. What a joke.
Shocking. This booking service doesn’t even exist to then apparently.. and they’re service in general was RUDE!
Good food as always. Not sure it’s worth booking as we still had to join the Q so defeated the reason we booked a table at a set time
No point making a reservation for Sunday lunch on OpenTable as they will make you join the queue anyway. That cost us 45mins.
Try and get table.in the front room as the back is pretty cramped and miserable with much less attentive service.
You out up with it because food is great. Some of the best.
Booking system doesn't work- were made to queue for 30 mins outside despite having booking. Was very expensive for what it was and pretty bleak/loud inside
I never got to go to this restaurant which was supposed to be for my daughter’s 12th birthday because when I called the day before I was told that it doesn’t take or honor Ooen Table reservations! But Open Table just keeps taking them anyway and then asks for a review like this.
On arrival our booked table was not ready and there appeared to be no booking systems being looked at at all. We were put in a queue and when we asked again about our booked table the gentleman on the door replied ‘he can’t magic tables up’ it was rude
My friend and I booked there for dinner and when we arrived there they told us to queue with the other people that didn’t have a booking and the waiter was extremely rude when telling us that. As a matter of fact we left and decided to go dine somewhere else.
Despite having a reservation we were ignored by the staff for 20 minutes. The manager at the main desk was rude and dismissive to ourselves and four other people also waiting despite tables being available. Once sat down the service was fairly quick and the food was nice enough. Service definitely needs improving
Very nice food but staff were extremely rude and we had to line up for 40 minutes despite having a reservation.
Booking was pointless, we were made to wait in a queue in the rain and never asked if we had a booking. After being seated, we waited fifteen minutes with no service, then the next table arrived and was served within a minute. The food finally arrived in random order with no explanation The waiter had a dripping nose which he kept wiping with his hand while serving plates of food. The food was good, but not worth such awful service. They appear to despise customers, and we should have walked away at the first sign.
Said all bookings on open table were lost, which I failed to believ, long line outside in the rain so forced to head elsewhere.
Didn't have our booked table ready and had to queue behind walk in customers in the rain outside. Food was okay, but far from the best.
Average overpriced dumplings. Would find somewhere better
Awful. We booked at table for 1.30 arrived and there was a queue we were told we had to queue as people book and cancel all the time and they don't hold tables for bookings! It was pouring with rain and we were not prepared to queue so we went somewhere else and had a fantastic meal. They are rude and shouldn't be using open table if they won't honour your booking.
You cannot book over open table so we had to wait to be seated. We ended up waiting 20 mins after our booking time. Luckily food was worth the wait.
