Dyllan's Raw Bar Grill
Our regional American cuisine features a modern raw bar, as well as a grill menu highlighting fresh seafood, steaks, and vegetarian dishes crafted with the finest ingredients.
The restaurant—housed in a circa-1890s warehouse built from locally quarried stone and exposed Virginia “iron wood” heart pine timbers—is modern while celebrating the building’s industrial past. The restaurant’s outdoor seating overlooks the historic and picturesque C & O Canal.
Here at Dyllan’s, we pride ourselves on working with local purveyors and artisans that adhere to rigorous sustainable standards.
Close Proximity to Georgetown U, George Washington U, Horward U and American.

We were so impressed with the dinner we had there that we went back the very next day for brunch, and they knocked it out of the park again!
Best place in Georgetown!
There was a rat on the exterior. True story
CJwpb-We are very sorry you saw a rat outside of the building. Dyllan's along with the building owner, the Georgetown BID and the city of Washington DC all work to combat the rat issue particularly along the 200+ year old C&O canal which is park land. This is also due to the canal renovations currently happening. We are very sorry as this clearly effected your evening. Unfortunately, we can not control all of the area outside.
One of the best dinner experiences my wife and I have ever had!
Dyllan's food is excellent, prices reasonable for the dishes, location along the canal also excellent.
The linguini and clams, grilled octopus and lamb chop were all superb. Definitely recommended.
Service is a bit off, but could easily be improved, i.e. drinks should be served before your food arrives, bread should also arrive before or with the food...not a big deal.
The restaurant is quiet, too quiet for a Saturday night. Really not sure why. It deserves to be full and busy.
Had a lovely time was good girl friends. Food was great portions, Absolutely delicious food, drinks perfect and helpful friendly staff! I’ll be back tonight with my husband. I think I’m your biggest fan.. thank you Dyllan’s staff.. I truly enjoyed everything!
Restaurant seemed stale, the food was poor with the exception of the soup. We had several small plates and all were below par. We ordered what our waiter claimed was their specialty, looking back I think that was just a rehearsed sell.
At 8 on a Saturday night the place was almost empty. Seems the place has some issues and I would suggest not going here.
We sat outside overlooking the canal and it was a great ambiance for a Saturday evening dinner. The food was delicious and cocktails were also fantastic. Really great quality seafood and attentive, knowledgable service. I was shocked by the lack of customers for a peak time on a Saturday evening. I suppose they don't receive too much foot traffic being back near the canal, but I'm hoping their food, service and atmosphere will bring more in and increase the energy in the place.
Great crab cakes!!
Great food, Friendly service, incredible setting on the canal! We can't wait to return.
We brought a large party in for a business dinner. It was a little last minute but the manager and the staff really took exceptional care of our group. For being fairly new the place was really professional, elegant and fun for our group. The menu and food were exceptional.
This was my 2nd visit in the last 3 weeks. The manager remembered me and thanked me for dining again. I am really impressed by this newer restaurant. Georgetown can be predictable and boring when it pertains to restaurants, this place is neither. I have seen some mediocre reviews, mainly around service, but that has not been my experience. Moreover compared to other DC restaurants the service is very group. I recommend trying them out.
I am a 15 year DC resident and my husband and I recently dined at the new Dyllan's Raw Bar Grill in Georgetown. We had a fantastic meal and great service. We previously dined at the former restaurant twice about 10 years ago and again maybe 5-6 years ago. We only went back because our friends booked a dinner there. The previous restaurant was old, smelly and not well kept. In the years between our first visit and second visit nothing had changed it was just older and more warn. Now on to the new restaurant, it was bright, elegant and happy. The staff was engaged and friendly. The food was creative, flavorful and very fresh. I have read other reviews and the press on this restaurant and I met the owner briefly during our visit. My husband and I both agree that this is a great addition to the DC area and we hope they do well. It definitely has some challenges, like being found and construction outside on the street but they seem to not let that bother them. It's a spectacular setting overlooking the C&O canal and we plan to tell our friends and colleagues to try Dyllan's. We will return soon and hope they continue to succeed.
Took half an hour to be seated despite having a reservation. Then missed half of our appetizer order. But the food that was delivered was excellent!
First time in Georgetown and found this restaurant. Loved every minute! Staff was friendly from the time we arrived till we left. I am not easily impressed but the food and service were exceptional and the restaurant design is fabulous. We now have a child in university near here so we hope to get back again soon. Highly recommended.
In town to move my daughter into college. Beautiful restaurant in Georgetown right on the canal. A little hard to find but food and service were amazing! I will definitely return. If your looking for great food an affordable. Check this place out. Manager was also very friendly and helpful.
The food was good, and nothing was wrong with it. The food wasn’t innovative or special. The seems the night we went was dreadful. The prior restaurant in the same location was spectacular, and it’s hard not to compare them.
Service was very slow with only a few customers in the restaurant. They were out of items on the restaurant week menu. The waiter was very nice but he couldn't answer any questions about the menu. Food and atmosphere were very good though.
Awesome! That's the best way to describe this Gem! Georgetown's best new restaurant in my opinion. You can go to all the fine dining places(CUT, Fiola, etc) or the "old" spots(Clyde's, Martin's, etc) but this place gets it right. Nice portions, great prices, not cheap but value, inventive menu (I even noticed CUT is copying their Raw bar, just like Wolfgang, can't leave the neighborhood restaurants alone) and most importantly a fresh inventive menu. Anybody who lives in the area should check them out we need more restaurants of this quality. Five stars all the way.
Visited during Restaurant week. It was an excellent menu and great value. Would have been nice to have some sides for the main meals. The octopus was grilled perfectly and the salmon ceviche was divine. We sat outside next to the finished remodeled canal which was quite pleasant. Will definitely return.
This was first time going to this restaurant and it was restaurant week.
The bartender Chad was outstanding. He was well verse and knowledgeable about the drinks even though it was his second week there.
The service staff it was his second week there too, but his service was not up to par like I thought it should have been considering, I was there 1 1/5 hour before my party arrived and there were very few folks in the restaurant. We were seated and our food order was taken by the service staff however, our we didn't get our food until 45 minutes later. My daughter asked where was our food, the service staff replied it got busy all of of the sudden. I repeated what the service staff person said to his Manager and Manager asked me again to repeated it and I did. He said, he will take care of it. Five minutes later, we got our food however, the Gumbo and Grill Squid was cold. I notified the service staff and he replaced it. The second course and third course came out like a well oil machine.
The service was the only item that didn't get 5 stars.
The octopus carpaccio was fantastic!!! Fish & kimchee tacos were good except the kimchee wsy overwhelmed the fish. Also it was watery, so the taco fell apart immediately after picking it up. The lemon sorbet was delicious.
Service was great. A little long but they were busy. Food was amazing.
When I walked in there was no one around, I had to find someone to let them know I was there.
Waiting for my guest, sitting at the bar was ok bartender was friendly and got my drink quickly
When we got to our table for dinner that's when everything went down hill. we waited over 20 min before we had to ask someone where our server was, there seems some confusion among the staff over who was to serve who, finally when the server came very apologetic but appeared nervous not knowing a lot about the menu, we had to remind him to get our drink orders and water, a manager did come over and comped our next drink. By the time the food came again after a long time it was good no complaints there, the check however was the fastest thing that came all night, and btw the comped drink was on the bill. I would not recommend this place.
Wonderful food and service. On the canal. Great outdoor seating. We will be back!
Really great Raw Bar. Oysters were awesome service was knowledgeable and friendly. Loved the dinner menu. Great for a business meeting. Slower then expected, but its summer in Georgetown.
Great meal, perfect portions to share. Food amazing. Staff was helpful but not pushy. Bartender Chris was so friendly and cocktails were spot on. Really a great place. Will be back soon.
Great location..... but almost empty. And now we understand why. Although almost empty the staff was busy... after 10 minutes a table. Food was mediocre at best although firmly priced. Steak was burned, no side dishes.
Music was very loud and not fitting the looks of the restaurant (hard rock?).
Only one trying to make a difference was the table waitress....
As you can imagine we left a moderate tip.
Biggest surprise of all..... we found another amount on our credit card overview...
Great space and cool spot on the Canal. Food was excellent and the service was very good. Georgetown needs a spot like this and only worry that it lacks visibility from the street and the space is too big to sustain itself.
Great customer service. The food is fantastic. The margarita was to die for . /)
Perfect place, food is excellent, service is good, outdoor seating near the Canal is ideal. The manager is pleasant and chats with customers.
Beautiful location and restaurant. Found it walking on the canal trail. Great outdoor dining the service and food were amazing! Also found out they open early on weekends for brunch. I look forward to walking over from Arlington to earn my brunch. Great job, new favorite!
WOW! Just found this place. I have lived in the Georgetown area for a long time and had no idea this place was opened. It was a restaurant before but old and not good. This place is a vast improvement. Very good menu. Its hard to find seafood, particularly great seafood without paying an arm and leg like at the waterfront or in a hotel. This place is better, in my opinion, then anything in Georgetown and maybe the best in DC. I hope Georgetown takes the hint and opens more places like this we need it. With all the closures its lost some of its charm. If you live in DC or are visiting go here. This place needs to stay. Staff and manger (I think the owner) were really friendly and appreciative. Check it out.
Even though the restaurant was empty service was poor. Slow to serve drinks and food did not come out at the same time.
The front and back of house are a mess. Ordered a dozen oysters split 6 & 6 (east v west), 14 were served (14 were later charged for). They were good oysters at least. Then ordered the grouper ceviche and were served the lobster and crab (a $3 more expensive ceviche and charged for that as well). Luckily no one in the group was allergic to shellfish, then again an oyster bar wouldn’t be the best place to take someone with a shellfish allergy but the concern remains. Proceed to order the scallop entree and ny strip surf and turf with a crab cake. The scallops came out lukewarm/cold (like they had been fired too early and were waiting on the steak). The steak was ordered medium rare, it was served blue, I usually will order a filet blue and don’t mind a rare steak but a NY Strip blue does a disservice to the meat. The center was still cold to the touch. When our waiter came around to check in he very intentionally asked how everything was and I called to his attention that the kitchen’s cook times were off and the steak was rarer than rare and nowhere near medium well to which he admitted he thought it looked off and was definitely not close to medium rare. He attempted to resolve by offering to refire, cook a new one, however as my fiancé was already done with her cold meal I passed and they offered to send a steak home with us, however reheating a cooked steak the next day is not a very nice way to experience a strip steak. The manager then came over a few minutes later and apologized and asked if there was anything the waiter could have done differently, to which we told him we were happy with how he tried to resolve but were not interested in another steak. They then offered to comp a dessert however we weren’t hungry. At the end the bill comes and we find we’ve been charged for 2 oysters we didn’t order, the more expensive ceviche we didn’t order, and the steak. Nothing removed, nothing comped (not even a glass of wine).
Will not return.
Food was good, fresh raw bar. Service was excellent, my fiancée was running late and my server was more than patient and very pleasant throughout the meal. Only negative is how pricy the meal was. I fine dine quite often and I have no issue paying a lot for a good meal but this casual meal we had was well over $200. With all the $1 happy hour fresh daily oyster places around DC and NOVA it would be hard to come back and $3+ per oyster here again, the quality and types are no different. Overall not a bad spot though.
Thank you for taking the time to send a review. We appreciate your business and strive to create return guests. We strive to provide our guest with a unique raw bar experience with our ceviches, carppaccios, imported tinned fish and our premium oyster selections. We only offer 2 varieties of east and 2 varieties of west coast oysters. These do come at a higher price to us and we attempt to make this as affordable as possible for you our guests. We do not serve $1 oysters because of the quality.
We had a wonderful meal! Service was excellent - follow the staff recommendations, you won't be sorry! Raspberry Point Oysters are the best.
First time here and will definitely be back after we move to the DC Metro area. Service was fantastic and the raw bar is killer. Wanted to have everything on it.
DavidC-We look forward to making you a regular. Thank you!
The food was superb and the staff very attentive. The sides were too large and could be shared between 2 or 3!
There was also a slight musty smell, which dissipated after a little while.
I will probably go back before I return home, so that should be enough of a recommendation!
This was a really great restaurant in an awesome location. The service was outstanding (the waiter and chef melted chocolate to make chocolate milk for my child). We were surprised at the small crowd and I’ve seen that in other reviews too. Don’t let that fool you, Dyllan’s was worth the visit.
