We had a lovely evening - and despite turning up with 5 guests on a Friday night (I had mistakenly made the booking for Saturday (My wife's birthday dinner - whoops!) the staff were very helpful and found us a table. Lucky me!! Food is exceptional. Highly recommended
An exquisite place, great vibe and excellent decor. Food was incredibly and great service, felt the staff were genuine in their great service. The only minor disappointment was that we wanted to try the set menu but were un-aware that you had to book in advance. This wasn’t clear on their we site. The silver lining is it’s a good excuse to come again.
Nice food, nice bar and nice service. Not been to eat since it has reopened and impressed.
Very disappointing. The online menu is for Notting hill not Chelsea and therefor half of the items are missing. The service was also incredibly slow and very difficult to get anyone’s attention.
Very average food.
Not a very friendly or professional maitre’d.
She needs to change her style and outfit!
Always a pleasure and food always consistent 👍
However, the Accoustics are terrible!! No music in the background and just tons of people speaking/shouting to have a conversation. I’m not sure why the Accoustics have changed so much? The new decor and bar are great but please sort out the noise levels.
There are some excellent ceiling Accoustic options and hopefully this will get sorted very soon.
It was great and the food was lovely. Staff were also very nice. The only downside is that it is very loud and could do with some acoustics management. Definitely will be back though and recommend a visit! Kimchi edamame and chicken goyzas to start are divine!
A few excellent cocktails before dinner. The barmen know how to make a perfect Martini. We have a lovely dinner with masses of dim sum and then the black cod. It was delicious. The staff are friendly and efficient. This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. Go, you won’t regret it.
We loved the renovation and the new menu is delicious.
We have been coming here for many years (8/8). It was always warm, friendly, caring staff, and great food. It is now cold, noisy, refit has changed acoustics (I think beautiful lanterns they had absorbed sound). My £29.50 lamb was tough, dry and tasteless. Waitstaff seemed indifferent.
So so sad. We were regulars before and not so sure now.
I was on a date and went for a 9.30 sitting. The main restaurant was very warm. I moved to the bar area as it
was cooler. There was no music playing and the vibe wasn’t like the other E&O. But overall the food and service was good. I was looking for a little more atmosphere.
We miss the old Eight over Eight menu although the food was good.
Love the food but the acoustics / noise level with the new design is awful (and I was there on a Monday night).
They have to sort the acoustics out!
I've been to e&o many times before its refurbishment. I'm happy to say that the food continues to be excellent. However, I much preferred the previous decor and I simply don't understand why there has to be continuous loud music.
Too much noise
Terrible reception, the hostess was just horrendous. she wouldn’t give us a booth even though all were empty and when I asked if they had wifi she suggested I “use my data instead” as the wifi didn’t work. Tried the wifi anyway and it worked fine! Poor service and food just ok. Don’t go.
Overall, they need to get their act together. Perhaps a bit overwhelmed. Just recently opened and they were struggling with service and clearly had issues in the kitchen. Waited 25 min just to get the drinks to the table. Had ordered the Black cod miso only to be told much later that the chef had burnt it all and there was none left. This was at least an hour after we had ordered it. No sushi on the menu like the one in Notting Hill. Hope they get back on track.
With the restaurant full, the noise was too much . I like a good atmosphere but I also like to hear what my partner is saying. Everything else was great.
I used to be a regular at eight over eight Chelsea but since being revamped to E&O Chelsea, it has changed a lot. The food is not as good, the menu has shrunk dramatically. The noise levels are a lot higher.
Food tasted reheated and some was fishy.
The service was very poor. Was given a drinks Menu with pages missing. Asked to order drinks at least 4 times before someone came. Drinks took over 15min, even the water we had asked for. Starters came quickly but then they kept trying to bring stuff we had had already. Mains came over 30min after we had finished our starters and that is after we chased them for the food at least 3 times. Food was delicious but just not worth the wait.
Teething problems I suppose, didn’t get the rice we ordered. We were told that was due to a problem in the kitchen.
Menu was sparse but the service was very good.
There seems to be a limited new menu but the kitchen seemed over-whelmed. This put the staff under a lot of undue pressure which lead to mistakes. As a result the service was slow and overall it was a disappointing visit. All the customers were getting the same poor service so the room was not relaxed.
Was looking forward to the reopening however left very disappointed. The food was on the whole fantastic but portion size meant dreadful value (we were at Zuma 2 days ago and it’s roughly the same price and there’s zero contest between the two chefs). Service was atrocious- I get they just reopened but the staff knew nothing about the dishes, were all over the place with either too many people on our table or none at all and then getting orders severely wrong).
Finally, the crown jewel of e&o (formerly eight over eight) was the 40% off food on a Sunday, that’s now gone.
The refit was obviously extensive but feels bland and generic and unfortunately leaves the place with no ambience.
Food is ok but overpriced for what it is. Ambience didn’t change much compared to previous Eight over eight.
Service not attentive enough
Had to wait a while for main courses
Delicious duck salad
I won’t go back. Having been lied to by the maitre who insisted there were no other tables available for our party of four at 18:30 when the restaurant was practically empty and then watching as he sat multiple smaller parties at booths, I will never set foot in this pretentious wannabe Chelsea restaurant. I am and will continue to be a loyal customer of the Original Notting Hill location. But never at this snotty outpost.
Although it's recently re opened the menu was limited and a little dill. Also the quality of the food was not as good as it used to be.i won't be going back.
If it could have gone wrong, it did.
The old 8/8 magic appears to have been lost but hopefully the new team will get things sorted and be able to focus on customer service (especially the bar staff).
Basically a disappointing meal. Food was amateurish, with only a couple of dishes (chilli squid, and duck & watermelon salad) meeting the standard we’d expect at its predecessor 8/8, or E&O in Notting hill. Lobster noodles were no better than a food truck would make, and the lack of lobster in the dish made it feel like a rip off at £27! The grilled chicken was dry and not very flavourless. And the steamed greens were literally barely cooked vegetables, with no flavour/sauce to speak of
There are other places in Chelsea I would prefer to go to
So happy it has re-opened.
