Ed's Diner - Cambridge Grand Arcade
It was shut when we arrived and we were told by the place next door that it went bankrupt a few months ago. We were very disappointed as we’d booked for a family birthday .
We waited for 25 minutes for the menu to be brought over and ended up getting our own. Once our order had been placed, we waited almost an hour for our food. When we asked the waiting staff if it would be ready soon, it suddenly came out but all of our meals were either stone cold or luke warm. I guess they’d left it sitting on the side until we chased it up.
When we complained, the waitresses response was ‘oh well, we’re really busy today’
We were very suprised by the lack of choice no burgers at all no milk shakes limited menu no vegan very dissapointing indeed we spent over £80 fo r very poor meal choice not what we wanted we have been before many times and this was the worst visit of many if this a sign of the future it won't be there much longer shame used to be good place
When we arrived we were advised that due to the protests the day before, they had run out of food as their delivery couldn’t get through. That’s fair enough and completely not their fault, but........ I booked a table days in advance and they had contact details. I don’t think it would be too much to ask for someone to have contacted me instead of letting me get there to find out.
Arrived just in time to order off the breakfast menu. Wish I hadn't bothered. The pancakes I ordered cost around £7. I think there were three on the plate, and they looked very sad. Served with some floppy, fatty bacon, rather than the usual American Style crispy streaky bacon. No maple syrup on the table, instead it had been meagrely poured for me. My fellow diner didn't fare much better. She ordered the chocolate & banana pancakes and was surprised to find that the chocolate sauce was actually MINT chocolate. Again, this had already been poured over her miserable stack of pancakes.
Service was VERY slow, despite the restaurant being almost empty when we arrived at 11:20. Took about 20 minutes to even get drinks brought to our table. The wrong shakes were brought over initially, so we had to wait for even longer. When they arrived, they were very nice.
In summary, I would not go back to Ed's Diner. The service was awful and the food was worse.
Great Food as always and service is great.. toilets let them down, need cleaning and little things like the jukeboxes need fixing, other than that fantastic.
Good place for a reasonable style American Meal with easy access.
The staff were friendly and polite, the food was served quickly despite being told there would be a wait due to a large party of people.
Food was good.
Will definitely return
The food has really gone down hill and the waitress that served us was really rude. The atmosphere in there was terrible and all the staff were more interested in conversation between themselves than there costumers.
Whilst the food was good the service and general ambiance was poor.
It was a cold evening and was very cold in the diner.
