About
Edwin’s has been a favorite spot in the neighborhood. The food is always 30% better than the prices or friendly atmosphere might suggest. We will miss the place very much.
Really lovely bistro dining. Very relaxed with nice chilled atmosphere and great service. Very good value for money.
An excellent dining room, tastefully decorated. Just a short walk from the bustle of Borough Market. Staff are friendly, gentle and polite. Knowledgeable about the food and ingredients. Lovely wholesome food, with locally sourced ingredients, full of flavour and presented very well. EDWINS was a real ‘find’ and I have been telling family and friends ever since.
We saw the reviews and booked. A hidden gem. Welcoming. Excellent service. Choice for everyone on the small we’ll chosen menu. Definitely go again.
What an excellent find. I needed to find a place with reasonable pricing, good food, and a quiet ambiance for a last minute meet with my cousin who was passing through London.
Edwins delivered on all fronts, and is only a few minutes from my office. Who knew? Will definitely be back.
Friendly service, imaginative food, nice selection of small and larger plates.
Very disappointing food from a usually reliable bistro. Not sure if I will come back soon...
Went to celebrate 2 friends' birthdays and the evening was OK. The waitress was really friendly and allowed my friend to have vegan options as part of the set menu which was greatly appreciated. Having said that, there were no vegan desserts available. Felt like a fun, secret location but ambience was flat - could be as we were one of the first seatings of the night. Food was tasty but lacked the "wow" factor. The cocktails were very disappointing and expensive for what you got. Nothing wrong with the restaurant at all but just didn't excite us.
Great meal in Edwins - delicious Miso cod and vegetable curry. Cauliflower salad was highly praised too. Friendly attentive service, shame we hadnt much time to eat more !
A great find! Staff friendly and efficient, food excellent, a lovely evening all round!
Tasty food & good service with Theatre menu, a bigger pudding choice would have been the only improvement.
lovely cosy restaurant - super friendly and good service - good prices - small well chosen menu - wonderful not to have too much choice !
Brrrrilliant, as always.
Decided on Edwins as perfectly located from Borough Station. The food was delicious and the wine offer deal meant we could choose an expensive bottle without paying more than the house wine. The service was friendly and efficient and we’ll definitely be returning to this little gem.
Good and correct service and great well cooked food.
Would definitely go back again.
I have been here a few times and it is a hidden gem. Absolutely love the food and service each time
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We were tired after a day of sightseeing, and sat down to excellent drinks, great service, and outstanding food. It is certainly not the cheapest restaurant, but it was well worth the price.
adorable little room, and lovely service (Domenic)
Outstanding food and reasonably priced. Inspired menu which made it difficult to choose! We shared cod cheeks and scallops in filo to start followed by duck breast with cabbage parcel and lamb 3 ways. My husband made approving noises throughout the meal (unusual).
Friendly service in a great vintage style room, loved the reclaimed furniture all done with style and flair. Highly recommend
It was another return visit to Edwins which must say something. It's a great find, especially when Borough Market and Bermondsey Street are so busy. Good British produce, friendly, attentive staff and a mellow vibe in a lovely dining room. I had cod cheeks and the fish/shell fish pasta and my partner had the risotto and oxtail all from the exceptionally good value pre/post theatre menu. Excellent cheese board too with unusual British options. Definitely would recommend a visit and we'll be back soon to try the a la carte.
Perfect place for a date. The seafood and fish are very well done ! I highly recommand this place !
As always, perfection. Thank you so much.
A lovely restaurant tucked away upstairs next to Borough tube station. Lots of nice things to try on their menu, and the service and presentation of food is up their with fine dining establishments, but the prices are much more reasonable
Great discovery, very cute setting, attentive service, delicious food and fantastic cocktails. Would definitely recommend and return for special occasions.
Always fantastic. Food is perfect and the atmosphere just what was needed on a Tuesday night. I keep bringing friends here and they all love it!
The food is perfectly cooked, i went for the Duck which was bursting with flavour, but cheekily stole a taste of the Goat Gigot and its accompaniments and they were equally tasty.
We thought the food was very good and the service outstanding - really warm and welcoming.

I had dinner with two friends at Edwins, and we were all very happy with the food (quality and creativity) and the service (attentive, friendly and accessible).
We had lobster ravioli and asparagus with poached egg as starters, which were great. The mains (fillet steak, and lemon sole meuniere) were equally good, and cooked as requested. The sides were tasty too: we ate creamed spinach and spring greens, as well as the inevitable chips.
The only areas that could be improved were the drinkers in the pub below blocking the floor of the entrance with beer glasses (not the fault of Edwins, but made it hard to get in!), and the very short list of beers. A couple more, especially any alternative to the ubiquitous American IPA-style beers would round it out well.
I recommend this slightly hidden gem, and I hope I'll be going back soon.
Edwins is a great venue for a quiet business lunch, catch up or date. Food, drink and service were all really decent. Second time I've been and would go back again. Small intimate space, hidden away just above borough tube - almost feels like a private dining room.
As usual a fantastic evening, great selection of food and drink. Just perfect for an after work early dinner and catch-up.
This is my go to restaurant!
It has been a while since we've been at Edwins. We go when we are visiting Southwark Playhouse and have the pre-theatre menu. As in past visits the food was excellent, although I missed the scallops in filo from the pre-theatre menu. The service was friendly and the house red was very pleasant. As in past visits we left very satisfied.
Have visited several times always great and interesting food
Great steak!! It was by far the best I had in a while. The risotto was also delicious. Will return :)
We had an amazing time at Edwin’s for my mum’s birthday, beautiful interiors and a really lovely atmosphere! The two male waiters who served us were very helpful and friendly. We were the last ones in the restaurant but they didn’t rush us and made us feel very welcome. The food and wine were both fantastic!
Food was just simply superb! This will be somewhere that I will have my list to recommend and would go back again!
Edwins is always a lovely experience, however I have noticed a decline in the food quality. I have had to send meals back on my last two visits to be re-cooked.
The wine menu has changed and I much preferred the earlier choices.
Great discovery, lovely atmosphere, food & staff. We had the pre-theatre 2 courses for £20, not that cheap but delicious: smoked haddock soup and duck. We did need to pay extra for veg, but overall we loved it. Didn't have time for dessert - we'll have to go back!
Highly recommend! Great service, great food, very atmospheric!
We're a group of foodies and we were all really impressed with everything we ate at Edwins. The service was fantastic and the place is really cosy. We all felt like we were eating in someone's impeccably decorated lounge. You must have the scallops in filo - they were to die for! We had to order a second round we loved them so much!
We booked this for my mom’s birthday and I called specifically to specify this is a special occasion and asked for cosy table and if they do any dessert for birthday or candles.
I don’t think that table allocated was the best, nor it was by the window as promised. Nothing was done to make my mom feel special from the restaurant staff, no dessert with candle nor even congratulations.
We made sure she felt spoiled by us though:)
Waited forgot about the lemonade I ordered and when served after reminder indeed it was not the best!
I also asked if I could have some chopped garlic, but we’re served whole garlic in a bowl. We had to ask 3 times afterwards to chop them. I just like having bread with butter and garlic and no one usually finds this request weird.
Overall not worth visiting for special occasion, that’s for sure. We didn’t feel homey-cosy-attentive service nor mouthwatering meal unfortunately.
