We really enjoyed this restaurant. We were tired after a day of sightseeing, and sat down to excellent drinks, great service, and outstanding food. It is certainly not the cheapest restaurant, but it was well worth the price.
adorable little room, and lovely service (Domenic)
Outstanding food and reasonably priced. Inspired menu which made it difficult to choose! We shared cod cheeks and scallops in filo to start followed by duck breast with cabbage parcel and lamb 3 ways. My husband made approving noises throughout the meal (unusual).
Friendly service in a great vintage style room, loved the reclaimed furniture all done with style and flair. Highly recommend
It was another return visit to Edwins which must say something. It's a great find, especially when Borough Market and Bermondsey Street are so busy. Good British produce, friendly, attentive staff and a mellow vibe in a lovely dining room. I had cod cheeks and the fish/shell fish pasta and my partner had the risotto and oxtail all from the exceptionally good value pre/post theatre menu. Excellent cheese board too with unusual British options. Definitely would recommend a visit and we'll be back soon to try the a la carte.
Perfect place for a date. The seafood and fish are very well done ! I highly recommand this place !
As always, perfection. Thank you so much.
A lovely restaurant tucked away upstairs next to Borough tube station. Lots of nice things to try on their menu, and the service and presentation of food is up their with fine dining establishments, but the prices are much more reasonable
Great discovery, very cute setting, attentive service, delicious food and fantastic cocktails. Would definitely recommend and return for special occasions.
Always fantastic. Food is perfect and the atmosphere just what was needed on a Tuesday night. I keep bringing friends here and they all love it!
The food is perfectly cooked, i went for the Duck which was bursting with flavour, but cheekily stole a taste of the Goat Gigot and its accompaniments and they were equally tasty.
We thought the food was very good and the service outstanding - really warm and welcoming.
I had dinner with two friends at Edwins, and we were all very happy with the food (quality and creativity) and the service (attentive, friendly and accessible).
We had lobster ravioli and asparagus with poached egg as starters, which were great. The mains (fillet steak, and lemon sole meuniere) were equally good, and cooked as requested. The sides were tasty too: we ate creamed spinach and spring greens, as well as the inevitable chips.
The only areas that could be improved were the drinkers in the pub below blocking the floor of the entrance with beer glasses (not the fault of Edwins, but made it hard to get in!), and the very short list of beers. A couple more, especially any alternative to the ubiquitous American IPA-style beers would round it out well.
I recommend this slightly hidden gem, and I hope I'll be going back soon.
Edwins is a great venue for a quiet business lunch, catch up or date. Food, drink and service were all really decent. Second time I've been and would go back again. Small intimate space, hidden away just above borough tube - almost feels like a private dining room.
As usual a fantastic evening, great selection of food and drink. Just perfect for an after work early dinner and catch-up.
This is my go to restaurant!
It has been a while since we've been at Edwins. We go when we are visiting Southwark Playhouse and have the pre-theatre menu. As in past visits the food was excellent, although I missed the scallops in filo from the pre-theatre menu. The service was friendly and the house red was very pleasant. As in past visits we left very satisfied.
Have visited several times always great and interesting food
Great steak!! It was by far the best I had in a while. The risotto was also delicious. Will return :)
We had an amazing time at Edwin’s for my mum’s birthday, beautiful interiors and a really lovely atmosphere! The two male waiters who served us were very helpful and friendly. We were the last ones in the restaurant but they didn’t rush us and made us feel very welcome. The food and wine were both fantastic!
Food was just simply superb! This will be somewhere that I will have my list to recommend and would go back again!
Edwins is always a lovely experience, however I have noticed a decline in the food quality. I have had to send meals back on my last two visits to be re-cooked.
The wine menu has changed and I much preferred the earlier choices.
Great discovery, lovely atmosphere, food & staff. We had the pre-theatre 2 courses for £20, not that cheap but delicious: smoked haddock soup and duck. We did need to pay extra for veg, but overall we loved it. Didn't have time for dessert - we'll have to go back!
Highly recommend! Great service, great food, very atmospheric!
We're a group of foodies and we were all really impressed with everything we ate at Edwins. The service was fantastic and the place is really cosy. We all felt like we were eating in someone's impeccably decorated lounge. You must have the scallops in filo - they were to die for! We had to order a second round we loved them so much!
We booked this for my mom’s birthday and I called specifically to specify this is a special occasion and asked for cosy table and if they do any dessert for birthday or candles.
I don’t think that table allocated was the best, nor it was by the window as promised. Nothing was done to make my mom feel special from the restaurant staff, no dessert with candle nor even congratulations.
We made sure she felt spoiled by us though:)
Waited forgot about the lemonade I ordered and when served after reminder indeed it was not the best!
I also asked if I could have some chopped garlic, but we’re served whole garlic in a bowl. We had to ask 3 times afterwards to chop them. I just like having bread with butter and garlic and no one usually finds this request weird.
Overall not worth visiting for special occasion, that’s for sure. We didn’t feel homey-cosy-attentive service nor mouthwatering meal unfortunately.
I've eaten twice at Edwin's recently and would definitely go back. One occasion was a celebration so we splashed out with glasses of cremant - a delightful alternative to the ubiquitous pro secco - and oysters. My companion was delighted with the scallops in filo pastry. We went for the small plates, which are generous in portion, and there is an excellent choice including nourishing as well as tasty kalettes with poached egg, perfectly cooked and I would recommend also the lobster ravioli. Attentive and helpful service.
Spot on and a delight all round
Whilst the restaurant ambience is great and the staff lovely, all in all it was a disappointment. The table we were sat at by the window which was very cold. They ran out of bread. The service was quite slow. My venison was average.
It was my first visit to Edwins and in fact I wasn’t aware of them and found them merely by an online search of best restaurants in the London Bridge area. I was sold my the online menu with partridge though unfortunately it wasn’t on the menu when I went, as evidently it was out of season, so I had mallard instead. All of the food was delicious and the service was first rate. The waiters went over on beyond to satisfy my requests, and very attentive. The ambience was homely and intimate, I would certainly return. My friend who dined with me was equally impressed, so it was delightful experience, especially as we hadn’t dined there before.
Lovely atmosphere and staff. The food we had was not bad but not great but we might have chosen badly.
Delicious British food. Interesting set-up, felt like we were in someone's living room, very cosy! Scallops were amazing. Great service too.
Friendly staff and the rib of beef was cooked as we ordered all very good
Excellent food and service--a hidden gem--I will certainly visit again..
Second visit, lovely food and pleasant service in an unlikely location. More people there this time so don't think it will remain a secret for long
Amazing service & food!
The staff were friendly and attentive from the word go. An acommodating maitre let us in even though we arrived over 10 minutes before opening time.
We immediately liked the slightly worn, homely look. The place half-filled in later, but well-spaced tables and soft music allowed for quiet conversation.
We picked a pre-theatre menu of wild mushroom risotto and smoked cod soup, both excellent, followed by root vegetable hash and confit du canard. All ingedients combined beautifully, my first fish soup in 15 years wiped all bad memories of a previous attempt, the duck leg's crusty skin deserved a sonnet.
Even though we took no desserts, we left well satiated and lyrical about the food and the place. A well-hidden, true gem.
Beautiful food, ambience and amazing service as always ❤️
Disappointing - poor wine list and quality of food didn't live up to the expectation generated by other reviews on here.
Lovely atmosphere and the staff wee charming. Food and wine delicious and I can't wait to go back
That was just perfect. Everything. From the service, to the place to the delicious food. Definitely the best place yet we went in London. We'll come back and we'll recommend it!
We had a Valentine's dinner here, for which there was a set menu. The value for money was excellent.
It's hidden behind quite an inconspicuous door, but the interior when you get up there is very nice; quaint and cute.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating from the moment we stepped into the restaurant to the moment we left.
Food was excellent (some of the best scallops I've had) as was the wine, though you may find that's where your bill will start adding up.
Also be wary of the service charge that is added to your bill.
This is somewhere we'll definitely be coming back to.
Very nice location! Friendly staff. Great food! Nice and cosy.
Valentine day dinner - this is a wonderful, relaxed local restaurant with a great, friendly informal atmosphere, modest prices but really fantastic delicious food! Amazing. A lovely evening - service was a little slow at times but I think they were a bit stretched with a very busy Valentines night! The beef rib steak was cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back!
