Food very tastey great atmosphere cocktails at the bar where great a good selection
Food overpriced and for small portions. Weird vibe, didn’t enjoy and wouldn’t recommend.
It was okay! I was expecting more from the food. The miso soup was too salty and tepid at best when it was served. The other appetizers including the squid were also not hot for some reason. The korean lamb chops were too rare and had to be sent back. The ribeye was a bit dry. The service etc was great and the ambience was similar to E&O in Nottinghill, but next time I would just go to E&O or Nobu, and not Eight Over Eight.
Outstanding food and completely charming service.
Food was good! However upon arrival at eight over eight the greeting staff were not friendly and seem unorganised. One lady was quite rude after making a mistake and sitting us at the wrong table, making it out to be our issue. I would say overall an over rated restaurant.
We like the restaurant a lot... we have been many times and enjoy going back. This time the service was better and connected more.
Very ambivalent about Eight over Eight which my wife and I have now visited 3 times. Ambience would be great except for a generally excessive noise level resulting largely from music played in the background. Some of music played is more disco appropriate than restaurant appropriate. At times it is difficult to converse . Having now tried many of the menu items, my opinion is that the Dim Sum items are the best. Salads not great; tempura was brutal. Curry was too sweet. Quality of service is variable. Most service staff show willing but some don't seem well informed about menu. Wine list is eclectic but in any event I find for Asian food wine (except chilled white) does not complement very well; rather prefer beer or cold drinks. We will certainly return but I am not convinced that this will become a long term favorite. Biggest single negative from my perspective is the noise level. DRS
Gets busier late with fun atmosphere, good service and nice food
Lovely restaurant, very attentive staff, lovely food, great location and really really surprisingly reasonably priced.
As a very frequent customer was appalled by the sudden inflexibility on gluten free options and change of gluten free preparation for some very simple dishes like egg fried rice with chicken for children . We have come very frequent to this place but new manager had no clue on what the options were. Poor customer service experience - won’t go back anymore.
Food is better than recently so really enjoyed it. Gets lively late
Good service and speedy food. Menu was varied enough to suit all our table. Booked that afternoon so good to get a table. People of all ages and friendship groups - girls night out - couples - friends... all in all an enjoyable evening
The food was good, but the service was not. I found the staff rude (especially the manager) and their service slapdash. The ambience was lively for a Wednesday night and very loud- my ears were ringing afterwards as if I’d eaten at a music gig. I’ll stick to E&O which is must less pretentious and with better service to boot.
Birthday party brilliant fun
Went to this restaurant because friends recommended it highly. We went for drinks first at 17.30. The music was so high we couldn't talk. We had to wait in the bar until the dinner area opened at 18:00. The hostess in the bar wasn't very helpful or friendly.
Finally got our seats in the restaurant and were told a DJ would be playing at 19.00 in the bar (wall to wall) where we sat. We got a wonderful waitress (Sarah) would really took care of us and made us forget the awful 30 minutes in the bar. Our food came relatively fast and was exquisite. We loved everything! And now I understand why this restaurant is so highly spoken about.
We live in Norway/USA and travel quite a bit. This restaurant is up to par with the best.
We had the bottomless brunch. Lovely selection of food and they kept our drinks topped up.
I am pleased to say our visit this time was much better than the last time as had a very attentive waitress who gave excellent service. Unlike last time when I had to keep approaching waiters who appeared disinterested.
Friday night friends catch up awesome as always
Too dark! Why not spotlights or even candles ..... can't see the food in the centre of the restaurant! Only the perimeter tables are light enough.
Love this place. Staff are always very friendly. Great food and cocktails in a classy, fun atmosphere
Good value for money
Hadn't been to the long-established bar/restaurant for a long time. Perhaps not quite at the cutting edge nowadays, it remains something of a 'scene', and pretty reasonably priced, considering. We enjoyed the food, but it's not the reason to seek the place out.
Great food. Service fine. Ambience let down by lack of air con until we asked if it could be put on.
Eight Over Eight never disappoints. Service, food and atmosphere are outstanding.
It’s one of our favourites. The Black Cod is fab! Always great food and very good service. A++
Having spent £200 for two
Still going strong after all of these years !
I am sure this place pre dates Zuma in knightsbridge but anyway it’s better and more subtle
Amazing food and service. The lamb is unreal.
Made a birthday really special. Thanks
The quality of the food has decreased significantly. The sushi platter was awful.
The waiter was a bit rude and rushed us.
Service was excellent but the food needs to improve. You could get away with this kind of thing in the 90s but with the likes of
I was a bit dissapointed on Sunday as we felt it was a little under whelming. The bottomless dumplings were tasty but a lot of dumpling paste & not much filling. The duck salad was different again & it seemed that no one had cut it properly.
Amazing food and excellence service. Would be nice if cocktail offers were included at table with meal.
The food was good and the wine amazing.
The head waiter was grossly condescending and frankly quite rude throughout the whole evening. He kept being sarcastic even when late with food and wine.
All my friends were left unimpressed.
I will seriously think twice before retuning here.
Sadly it used to be a much better experience.
To the management: do yourself a favour and hire a new head waiter. The guy is a liability
Always seems busy here but after two visits I still fail to see why. Can't be the food which is unremarkable. Maybe it's the music which is loud and irritating. It attracts a youngish crowd with a sprinkling of older men and their daughters. At least one hopes so.
The food is very average to poor. We had the prawn and chive dumpling and tiger prawn griddled dumpling to start. For main we had the kimchi lamb and pad Thai. Pad Thai was overly sweet and overdone. Lamb was not a great cut of meat and was lacking in the flavors that would have made it a fusion dish. The cocktails were mediocre. I place itself is decent. Reasonable decor and good seating setup. I wouldn’t make my way back here unless there was shift in the food.
Staff are always so welcoming ..... so service was great as usual ...as one of our dishes was wrong but they made up for it!
Friendly staff and great service however the food is definitely imitation Chinese and anyone expecting real dumplings and gyoza will be highly disappointed. Cocktails were both pretty and tasty. Sushi rice was squashed and paste-like. Miso soup is too weak in flavour. Shame about the food as we were really looking forward to our meal here, but will not be going back.
Delicious food and excellent service. Only issue I had was that the table was in quite a dimly lit part of the restaurant.
