Would 100% recommend - the food was great and we only spent £66 for 2, including a bottle of wine. The staff were very good also, always serving with a smile the only point to pick up for me was that they seemed understaffed, although a third server came in midway through our meal and that remedied the situation. Definitely worth a visit.
Superb and plates weren’t small at all. The lunchtime deal is amazing value too
Fantastic meal, flavours of each course were amazing. Service was great. Lovely wee place. Will definitely go back again.
Really delicious, inventive food. There are only small plates on the menu, giving the chance to enjoy lots of different foods and flavours in one meal. Brilliant service from knowledgeable, friendly and attentive staff. Lovely wine too. Highly recommend.
Food sand service were outstanding, I loved it. Yummy cocktails too.
What a treat. Just looked at the high star rating and menu and decided to give it a whirl. Cannot recommend enough. Excellent service. Chefs were engaging in addition to being wizards in the kitchen. Wine list not the longest list but what we had was very scrumptious. Fine dining in a a relaxed and casual environment. Give it a try.
Original, food well served, owner came round with explanations of food , will definitely go back. Menu changed according to availability of fresh food.
Food and service were absolutely fantastic. A very nice atmosphere too. Very good value too. Would recommend it to anyone.
Had an early dinner here before a gig on Saturday. The quality of the cooking is exceptional there wasn't a dish we ordered that was just okay, everything was great. We ordered six plates and bread between two of us and that was more than enough, in fact we sadly had a few bites we just couldnt manage. I would also highly recommend not skipping pudding as again it was a magnificent plate of food. I understand that because they use fresh seasonal ingredients that the menu changes frequently but if you visit and the Jerusalem artichokes are available I strongly urge you to get them. The food aside, we had attentative but not intrusive service from both our waitresses who were genuinely lovely and really enhance the dining experience. The chef came out and chatted too, whom again was lovely and good fun, it was obvious from our brief chat with him how much heart abd soul goes into the food something you can really taste. I'll be back again soon. Finally the bill came in about twenty pounds under what you'd expect to pay for a meal like that, best value meal in the West End.
The service and food was great! The dining room could do with a bit of work I think and then it would be perfect!
Great food again. New flavours and tastes. Quiet midweek lunchtime great service. Give it a try!
Great menu, love sharing plates, food beautifully made and presented but most importantly tasted wonderful. Friendly and accommodating staff, highly recommend.
Very nice atmosphere and excellent food, will definitely be going back!
The restaurant serves small plates and they are indeed small.
The food was tasty but very expensive.
Restaurant is small and the tables are very close together. The music was not to my taste and I found it detracted from the atmosphere. I agree music is a personal preference. It was turned down when I asked.
I would not recommend
Food was delicious and fresh. Beautifully presented and came quickly from tiny open kitchen! Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Food wonderful and service great- a perfect lunch!
Our second visit to 88.Did not disappoint. Stunning food, beautifully presented
Great small restaurant with fun interaction with all staff who are a team. Great cooking.
Still can’t stop thinking about how good the Jerusalem artichokes were coupled with the freshness of the salsa verde. Atmosphere and set up of the restaurant we’re both spot on too. I will be definitely be back!
Some lovely plates. I didn't realise it was a set lunch menu until I arrived, so maybe knowing and being able to see that prior to the visit would be good. Very enjoyable, though a little short on the choice of hot drinks available. Limited teas and no decaf coffee. Waiting for a delivery apparently.
Great food and attentive but non obtrusive, charming, knowledgeable service. Refined and relaxed and the perfect date spot. Wines are all by the glass and better for it! A must visit.
Read loads of great reviews and we were really looking forward to it. The reception on arrival wasn't particularly warm. The tables are extremely small which proved to be a problem, given the 5/6 plate recommendation. We ordered some sourdough with honey and thyme butter - the portion of bread was ridiculously measly and served with heaps of the butter. £4 for that was insulting. The tagliatelle was another rip-off - the pasta was quite thick, tasteless and undercooked, served with an egg yolk, a few shavings of parmesan and 3 pickled walnut halves. £9 for this. The atmosphere wasn't great either which, for a new restaurant on Hogmanay, was a let down. Cold and basic decor, especially in the front section. Slightly cosier feel to the back. We would have given zero for value if an option. There is far better value and experience available in the area. We can still hardly believe the reviews, definitely won't return.
Outstanding evening, with a sizeable amount of vegetarian options. Friendly waiters and wonderful wine.
I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at 88 after we arrived late on the Sunday evening between Xmas and New year.
We could not have asked for any better hospitality. The food was outstanding - the rabbit and cod were fantastic and the artichoke phenomenal. We were expertly guided in our wine choice. We will absolutely be returning.
As in many other reviews of late - get in there while you can. Wonderful ambience. A real gem in the current Glasgow food scene.
Thank you again everyone at 88!
What a cracking place, this menu far surpassed what my expectations were. The staff went above and beyond and provided an excellent level of service to the point where they went to get tomato juice to make us bloody Mary’s (which were excellent). Great food, service and ambiance, would highly recommend.
We had an amazing Sunday lunch for 4 people. We sampled almost the whole menu between us and had a really lovely meal. The wine list is also great.
Really enjoyed our meal. A lot of interesting and some unusual flavours and combinations. Especially liked the beetroot three ways and the lamb ribs.
Who would have thought brussel sprouts could be a star dish?
This was a very enjoyable meal and experience. Some of the food was exceptional and delicious, like the Jerusalem artichoke and mushroom ravioli. The staff is very nice, and friendly. The concept of small plates was made far more enjoyable by bringing one dish at a time rather than in some other restaurants where you end up with them all together and cold. Some plates worked better than others, not convinced by the lamb ribs. However overall a lovely experience and will definitely be back.
good small plates. The outstanding savoury plate was lamb ribs with dukkah. The ribs could have been a bit more salted, but they were a delicious combination with the dukkah! There were two desserts, a chocolate orange whihc was sublime but the other one was excellent too. some skill in the pastry department! Thanks! (PS the recommended wine was good too)
First time and lovely meal. Red wine selection not particularly great but white certainly seemed better.
Outstanding new venue in what was the two fat ladies.
Great meal (again) and fantastic burgundy like wine
I could eat the hispi cabbage every single day, relaxed and friendly service, its a must try in Glasgow
Excellent food, wine, service & ambience. Loved the “veg led” theme. Artichoke with leek emulsion is not to be missed!!
Everything we had was bloody delicious!! Super fresh and well thought out menu. Cocktails were superb too. Can’t wait to come back.
5 star all round - incredible food and service - heavy on the seasonal produce which was a big plus. Great cocktails too!
Our first visit all the food was extremely tasty ,good variety of small plates lamb ribs with dukkah the best, orange fennel another stands out will be back .
Drinks were really good, balanced and tasty. The team can cook for sure but my favourite dish was the pasta. Really good. New opening so need to come back once they have bedded in. Would recommend and sure to become a staple in Glasgow and West End.
Fantastic and friendly service, we felt so welcomed and they were very accommodating for one of the party who was a coeliac. All of the small plates we tried were great, with the stand out favourites being the Jerusalem artichokes with crowd is and the roasted lamb ribs. Will definitely be returning to try the cocktails!
