A warm welcome to Ekstedt at The Yard, located inside Great Scotland Yard Hotel.

Our flagship restaurant brings Michelin starred chef Niklas Ekstedt's signature style of wood fired ‘old Nordic’ cooking to the UK for the very first time. Ekstedt at The Yard focuses on Scandinavian cooking techniques using the very best seasonal British ingredients, featuring a menu of signature dishes, alongside an inventive cocktail menu and extensive wine list. The open kitchen, which feels like an extension of the restaurant floor, allows diners to sit at the heart of the action.

    The food was ok. But the duck breast was nearly rare and we did Not Like it all all. The Dessert was too Sweet. Not possible to eat.

    The food was good and some dishes excellent, but quite rich.Service was also good but lacked some charm. The restaurant was empty, and lacked any ambience. You felt you were eating in a hotel, which of course you are.The cost was high for what we got by the time service was added.

    One of the best meals I had in London! Visited London for a week and I’ll say the food scene is a hit or miss. After being miserably let down by a Michelin Star restaurant I came into Ekstedt with low expectations. I was sorely mistaken. The service was great. I was greated with genuine smile and friendly conversation. Assisted to my table and explained the concept. I was mesmerized by the ability of the decor to match the concept of restaurant. Everything felt in place and the loom of uncomfortably subsided. My waiter was very kind. We both spoke different languages. However, we managed to communicate effectively and he never let the language barrier detour from making the experience excellent. As for the food! Finally a Chef that understands simplicity, authenticity and the fundamentals of cuisine. In a world full of AI and mass production; it is very easy to fall into the trap of making food be an evolutionary experiment. However not all food needs to be so warped out of it origins that it not longer pay amosh to it true idenity. Here you will find that the food is at its core simplistic. A combination of subtle flavors make for a complex dish. When dissected I could identify each ingredient. It transported me to my younger years in culinary school. A simpler time when ppl cooked with spices and not machines. I had the tasting menu -The scallop dish was pure heaven. The scallop was fresh and sweet and melted in mouth like butter! The pairing of the sauce( sandefjordsmor I believe it was ) was creamy and tangy contrast to the sweetness of the scallop. - the duck was prepared beautifully. The essence of embers, smoke and pine was a great perfume that hit the nose instantly. In that moment I could have closed my eyes and been transported to a cottage in Norway. However, the true show stopper was the sunchoke! An obvious but not often well prepared dish! This shows true artistry, skill and commitment to making food what it’s suppose to be! Simply delicious!

    Amazing meal. Having been to Ekstedt in Stockholm previously we were looking forward to experiencing his food again and it didn’t disappoint. Would highly recommend.
