Ekte Nordic Kitchen
Food is always lovely. I've been for breakfast and lunch. Staff is friendly. Very good value. Service could be a touch faster, given it's usually not that busy but other than that no complaints. Will come again.
Not great. Poor service. No music switched on so strange atmosphere.
Great meal for something different in town. Not the best for gluten free but are aware of allergies
An early evening table for two. A meal to combine business and social with a contact who has become a good friend and means a lot to me and my business. So from the evening I was hoping for a local dining experience I would describe as having a good vibe & buzz with quality food and wine, and an unpretentious and warm service. Ekte Nordic Kitchen delivered and I look forward to returning.
Food and drink great. Team work amongst staff tense and hopeless. Missed orders of both drink and food with endless people coming to the table without knowing what the last person had done. We went on a bad night. Everyone has bad days. Perhaps we were guinea pigs. Just wish we’d been compensated because I’m embarrassed to make a fuss.
Good ambience, considered design, small and quality menu, delicious food, good service.
Amazing place. The food was great, really good quality ingredients. Really well cooked, to perfection and great combinations. This is my second visit and I would come here every day if I could afford to eat out every day !
Great night dining with friends on the set menu. Quintessential Scandinavian food!
Not sure if it was an off day but we had terrible service where we had to wait 30mins to place an order and then our food did not arrive until 45mins later. We then had to ask for the bill even though they had said they were extremely busy and we would have assumed they wanted us to leave. Although the food was good, I'm not sure I will return until the service drastically improves!
It was also quite embarrassing as it was a client meeting and it didn't show us in a good light with our choice.
Not too impressed with the service. Clearly some trainees on the shift. And manager decided to have a staff briefing right at noon i.e. the busiest time for lunch. Not the first time Ive been here and not impressed with the attentiveness or speed of service. Always have to wait when ordering beer!? Sort it out people! Food is good but overpriced for what it is. This comes from a Scandinavian so I know what I am talking about.
The food is delicous and wonderful to get Nordic cuisine at a decent price. Really enjoyed the whole experience and the open kitchen makes you feel part of the action but not the noise.
The dinner menu was nothing like what is featured on OpenTable - just an 8-course menu for £80, from which you could also order à la carte. My vegetarian partner could only have a few pieces of cauliflower and one jerusalem artichoke, and I had booked this place based on the (seeming) number of vegetarian items available on the menu. We literally had to go get more food elsewhere after dinner.
Hi Lisa, We apologise for the confusion regarding the menu. On this night we had a special Supper Club with 8 courses menu for £50.00 pp with matching wines for extra £30.00 pp. Information about the special menu was displayed on the Open Table portal at the time of the booking. The tasting menu was not Vegetarian but if you would consider us for any future bookings, please note that it can be arranged with prior notice. Once again apologies for this and we hope you will be trying us again.
Very pricey for what it was. Slow service despite restaurant being basically empty. Mistakes on our bill when it finally came. The food was nice though.
We waited a long time to be served and then one of the four side dishes was not available. We ordered and my friends main didn’t arrive. They then told us they had run out of what she ordered and she was asked to order something else. Meanwhile, she shared my main until hers eventually arrived. We were low on drinks and water and although they were apologetic and removed one main from our bill, I won’t be going back sadly.
This was my second time in Ekte.the first one was much better but this one disappointed me. The food lucked a bit of taste and nothing special with the dishes I tried. I ordered the fried pork chop but half the portion was pure fat and the other half was a bit undercooked or too hard to chew. Being pregnant I asked to order something else instead. The waitress was very polite and helpful but the manager seemed to be annoyed.
Tasty food, staff were friendly but need some more training for a restaurant
Authentic and very tasty food with great presentation and service. Price was ok for the overall quality. Will definitely come back!
Food was quite nice, but unfortunately the service was way below standard. Waiter spilled wine on the table and hardly apologised. Waitress asked if we wanted dessert, to which we replied yes, and she never got back to us. We then asked another waiter for the dessert menu, but he never came back to us to take the order.
The only reason I would recommend the restaurant is because the wine and food was very good. The service however was poor. It was very slow and the staff did not seem educated on the menu nor the wine list.
Food is awesome as always and the ambiance is great!
We had a new waiter so was a bit awkward when he had to ask someone each of our questions (such as ‘what’s today’s soup?’...)
The set menu main dish was smaller than the a la’carte menu. Seemed a bit cheeky... there were only 2 frikadeller (meatballs) instead of 3... already a small dish for smaller...
Good food with lots of flavours, lovely setting and knowledgeable staff. But poor service and very small portions mean not good value.
Great food and service but the waiters were arguing amongst themselves in front of tables
The meal took nearly 2 hours and the service was terrible.
The food and menu were great, and the prices were very reasonable. The service however was terrible, very slow, to the extent we ended up cancelling our dessert and coffee order and just got the bill. Would go again but expectations are lower.
Love the food.
I’ve recommended this place to many. I’ve come here often as it’s just down the road from my office. Always a pleasure.
quiet place for brunch in the city, not a great atmosphere. food was good, lots of standard brunch options.
The ambience of the place was amazing, and some of the dishes served were well prepared. However most of the options on the menu were not available and some of he dishes served were quite sub-par. The fish stood out as overly salty to a point where some on our table left it midway as impossible to eat. But the Smorbrod was great and the steaks were well seasoned too. The soup of the day was very average.
We had a nice meal but unfortunately not as authentic as I would prefer. Good location for a business lunch.
Always good food and the service is exceptional. Highly recommended
Fantastic food. Sitting at the counter is great to see the chefs at work. Highly recommend.
Our waiter forgot to put our order through so we had to wait forever and we finally asked... no one seemed to notice that we were still waiting for food.... though we were some of the first customers at lunch time.
Food is ok but pretty expensive for what you get.
One of my faves in the City - quality, seasonal produce and lovely fish options, the food is absolutely fantastic. Light and easy on the stomach too, which is fantastic! Quite pricey, but worth the money for a business lunch / special occasion. Service is consistently hit-and-miss every time I've been there - usually something gets forgotten and the waiter / waitress disappears for ages at some critical moment like ordering another drink or getting the bill, and it can be hard to get someone's attention.
Walked passed this place so many times.
Figured it was all / only pickled herring.
Far exceeded expectations.
The restaurant is quite cold and the ventilation is poor meaning you leave the restaurant with all your clothes smelling.
I came for a small team lunch and we had a great experience, efficient and friendly service, great food, even if the tables were full, the noise level was fine. We'll come back.
Food was horrible. Ordered a stake and was plain rubber, tasteless.
Several items on the menu missing, we had to change our order twice.
Only good thing was service - nice and helpful staff.
Interesting menu. Food was good but all came at same time.
Fantastic food let down by sub-par service. Restaurant was quiet yet we were waiting 20mins for drinks constantly throughout the evening, food brought without cutlery and mistakes on the bill.
First time here and really enjoyable food. Pigeon starter was excellent, and herring selection for main was incredibly filling (but delicious.) We'd ordered a £6 side as well but only managed about 1/3 of it . Excellent choice of wines by the glass. Service - that depended on who you got! We had one excellent chap (think he was Swedish but not sure) who was observant and attentive. But we also had a second chap who was the opposite - for example when he put down our main dishes, we had no cutlery, but he set them down then wandered off to check his phone. It took the first waiter passing by to notice (without our needing to say anything to him) and bring us what we needed. Everyone there was really friendly.
