El Borracho de Oro
Very disappointing. I booked specially for my bday asked for a quiet 4 table as one of the party has trouble with their hearing. they put us on round table which was meant for 6 so we were far away from each other by the noisy kitchen.
We also ordered drinks when we arrived and despite chasing 3 times we only got them after most of our food was eaten!
Terrible service and won’t be returning
Once again another fabulous evening , with excellent service , food and drink. The band and the atmosphere was pitched at just the right level. Everyone in our party of six commented what a fabulous evening they had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Excellent food, ambience and service. We will definitely be re-visiting again soon!
The food was lovely and authentic except the croquetas which had way too much cheese and chicken skewers which were over cooked. Loved the jumbo prawns, tortilla and pimientos de padrón. Very good service if a bit slow
We love El Borracho de Oro - the food and service is always fantastic and the staff are very helpful and friendly!
We loved it. We were met promptly, service was good and the food was excellent. The tapas happy hour was nice because we tried many things.
There is no car park for customers. We had to park on a side street and cross a busy road. The food was okay, nothing special. The service was very good. The food is a bit pricey for what it is. Overall, a pleasant experience, but I don't think I will return.
Brilliant food we went for the Tapas which were 3 for the price of 2 service wonderful it was a late lunch so only one other table to be served. Wonderful!
Always lovely here, the tapas are delicious but I will try the order ahead selections to try next time; they sound amazing! The service is cheerful and much appreciated.
Was really impressed with this restaurant. Food came out quick and was really tasty. Staff were attentive without being annoying. The price was also very reasonable. Look forward to returning
Excellent Tapas food, great service. A good find. Worth the travel from other parts of Birmingham for this place.
The food was delicious and creative. Coca con Tomate was awesome. Paella Marisco was devine. Great ambiance. will definitely visit again
Pleasant surprise as not sure what to expect. Good service lovely food nice location
The food was nowhere near the usual standard, and it wasn’t the usual staff, so I’m guessing they had cover in while they were away after Christmas.
Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. The chorizo in cider is particularly delightful.
Amazing restaurant. Could not fault the food, ambiance or service. The waiters were very attentive but not overbearing. Having experienced a tapas restaurant last time we were in Birmingham but weren't overly impressed by it we looked on Trip Advisor & found this one. We were not disappointed & would return when next in Birmingham.
Second time visited this restaurant, and the food and service were excellent, it was better the first time as we had live music but still lovely atmosphere, the drinks are quite expensive tho. Would definitely go again.
Had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff friendly. Food not bad - good garlic bread and prawns, hake was small (I know it's tapas!), had to wait 10 minutes for our lamb dish which was given to another table. Couldn't taste the Liqor43 in the Chocolate torte which was just chocolate sauce in a sweet pastry case. Will return at some point to try other dishes.
We’ve been three times now and love it! Service was slow but apart from that great - food lovely, good value with an IB card
Tables were unfortunately very sticky. 1.30 on Sunday for a family lunch was not right - far too quiet with little atmosphere. Food great though.
3 of us ate at 3.00pm on a very hot Sunday afternoon, so the restaurant wasn't busy. The service was very good and the food was really, really great. Probably the most authentic tapas I have had outside of Spain with some interesting choices. Portions were absolutely right for tapas - the recommended 3 each plus a couple of nibbles and 2 deserts shared between 3 were more than sufficient. The wine is a little on the pricey side with a slightly limited choice of mostly Spanish wines. We had the fizzy, rose Sangria which was just right for the very hot, humid day. The Sunday offer of three tapas for two made it a very reasonably priced meal indeed, but I would still go at the normal price because it was so delicious. They do a great range of paella and fiduea too. We will definitely be going back and hopefully very soon.
Fantastic meal, nice surroundings. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon, but it was perfect for a date and chat. Staff very helpful and Didn’t keep us waiting for our meals for too long.
It’s a shame that the seating area is so close to the road, if it had a garden area then it would be just perfect.
Great menu, food range and drinks. Really good and friendly service. Food tastes delicious. Very enjoyable time spent here.
Great food with friendly service
The restaurant can be a little noisy some evenings but the food is always great. A fun night out with friends. One of our friends is a frequent visitor to Spain and eats tapas widely there - he is a big fan of this place and rates it really highly. Another works in Canary Wharf and says this place matches some of the best in the capital. I've been 3 times and would happily go again. Highly recommended if you like tapas. You'll find something delicious you've never had before, alongside the usual favourites. Well worth a visit.
All round a very enjoyable evening with friends. Fab food and good service.
Lovely tapas and great service - would certainly return
Great experience. Excellent food and atmosphere. Staff very very helpful.
Food ok, service poor. Location attracts the loud and wealthy young professionals . Good for a group dinner, lousy for a date.
Absolutely awful food. I have been before and it was fine. However, for mother’s day the food wait was ridiculous we had to remind our waiter that we were waiting for more food to arrive (prawns arrived 45 minutes late and were cold). Maybe it was busy? But that is not an excuse. On top of this my whole party had extremely upset stomachs in the evening and morning afterwards. Will not go again.
A very positive dining experience overall - right from the greeting from 'front of house' down to the creativity of the food, the service and the ambience... Seated promptly and courteously by a lovely lady who explained their approach. The restaurant was packed and there was a live band playing cover tunes - elapsing later into a great (and appropriate) latin vibe. All the dishes were delicious and there were some new tapas dishes (eg dried aubergines) which we'd never eaten before. Wine was fairly priced and overall felt that it represented very good value. Highly recommended.
Lovely meal and great cocktails. As it was international woman’s day we received a complimentary dish also which was most unexpected.
Great food, Great service and recommendations on wine and food!
Great food, great atmosphere. Big tables for a family get together.
Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Plenty of room so you do not feel cramped. Food was delicious!!
The food is fantastic, the service is brilliant and the ambience is warm and relaxed!
Lovely tapas food and a good menu with plenty of choice. Was pretty quiet at lunchtime but we went then because they only do whitebait on the menu at lunchtime. It wasn't on the menu for some reason but they were very kind and served it anyway.
Beautiful food but a long wait (1 hour) for a paella.
Had a date night here with my wife. Great atmosphere and tasty tapas. The staff are friendly and the live music adds to the ambience of the place. Would definitely recommend.
We went for my son's birthday. My son ordered a sherry and after 10 minutes we were told this was not available. For the second choice of sherry we had the same scenario. The bread ordered only received half way through the meal as the waiter forgot. We ordered two paella and asked how long this would take bearing in mind we booked our table for 1.30pm and at 3pm we were told it would be another 25 minutes. Basically the place was short staffed and it was apparent that staff shortage in kitchen too. People sitting close by also complained and the waiter kept on apologising. We cancelled the paella and asked for our bill. We were very disappointed and will not be visiting again nor recommend to our friends.
