Really great authentic Mexican food! Wish the guacamole portion was a little bigger but otherwise great!
Always a hit, never a miss at El Camion. A bit on the pricey side, but plenty of food to share if you’re on a budget. The chips and guacamole are above par here, so be sure to save room for your entrée!
I love this place ! Good service good food and amazing drinks
Food and drinks were great, and the service was fine. The only real drawback here is sheer level of noise in this restaurant makes it very hard to have conversations that aren’t shouted.
Another great experience in this neighborhood mainstay.
Came for the margarita but the cod tacos were excellent
the tacos were bomb
Great vibe, excellent margaritas and very tasty food.
We had a fabulous time at El Camion. We were a group of 4 and were seated right away at our reservation time. It was our first time here. We all ordered different tacos and they were delicious! We also got blood orange margaritas that were so tasty and very strong. One person got a pina colada type drink that was also excellent. Food took a little while to come out, but server was nice. Restaurant overall is very noisy! We had a hard time hearing each other, but that's to be expected. Great restaurant to go to for a fun night out with friends. We'll be back!
The food was great and they were understanding of our friends being a little late. Super accomodating and a great time. It got a little loud at times, making dinner conversation a little difficult but overall a great time!
Great food, wonderful management and staff
Amazing place , tasty food , delicious drinks ..
Excellent food and service. An old-school approach to Mexican done with great ingredients, delicious drinks, and attention to detail. The service was excellent, friendly, unobtrusive but attentive. It's definitely a place I plan to revisit, hopefully with a frequency. The frozen margaritas, the regular margaritas, and the micheladas were all excellent. It was a really pleasant evening.
Good food, good drinks, good decor! Really liked the restaurant. Unfortunately it seems like the restaurant has poor acoustics - it felt much louder than normal and was very hard to hear conversations at our table.
Keen to try it again to confirm if this experience was an exception or the norm.
This place was a great find for us, we love Latin food, and this place knows what they're doing in terms of spice and authenticity. Our hostess/waitress was super pleasant, and the atmosphere is great - right on the corner with great views, nice seating, wooden tables, great lighting. The drinks were perfect, and I must say the Red Sangria was unique and authentic - but you need to put the typical 'ice-filled beer pint loaded with fruit' out of your mind... this Sangria is a great blend of red, brandy, and maybe a bit of juice, just enough fruit, and very little ice... exactly the way it should be. Food was excellent, big variety, and came out super fast. We will definitely go back often. Cheers.
Wait staff were great and drinks were delicious. The atmosphere is a little dingey, but the food is good!
Loved this place !
Great find for Mexican flavors- meal and beverage- in East Village. Easy to reach Ave A & 12th Street. We like to go at quieter times for romantic date night or casual work meetings. Others flock for Happy Hoirs & after work bites.
nice atmosphere but cocktails and food not that good.
Fabulous! Highly recommend!
Great Fajitas and lots of light in the dining room (during the day)
Great food and drinks. This is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood.
El Camion never disappoints. The service and food are great. The drinks are fantastic, the large frozen margaritas is my favorite.
I love this place!!! Food is delicious and the service is outstanding.
Was not impressed by the food here at all, I’ve never complained about tacos before. The best part of my meal was the veggies, drinks were gross as well. The service did not help at all, overall disappointed on Valentine’s Day.
Food was good. Very noisy that inhibited conversation.Had to wait 20 minutes to honor our reservation
The margaritas were divine. The bartender made mine straight up- no syrup, no-nonsense; smooth not sweet and sticky. The waiter was super nice and accommodating. The food itself was mediocre. I got the beef enchiladas and they were dry and bland.
Love this place. Laid back and food is delicious.
Best Chimachingas I've ever had, with excellent service.
Came on a Monday night, it was completely empty but I wasn't expecting a large crowd. Service was however pretty close and inattentive and the food was fairly mediocre. If i lived it the neighborhood I would consider coming back for the margaritas which were good, but def wouldn't travel for this one again.
The food was great as always and a great value. The service was pretty bad, however and people were walking out of the restaurant because they were getting so frustrated. Granted, it was a busy Saturday night, but you would think the restaurant is used to that. It seemed like they were severely understaffed and we sat at our table for about 30 minutes before anyone even came over to give us water. One table next to us said they had waited over an hour for their food.
Food was great and pretty reasonably priced. Was packed, but in a good way like wow this restaurant must be awesome. Definitely would recommend!
Wonderful neighborhood cantina- some creative favorites from kitchen & bar, service friendly, professional & efficient. As you note from both Happy Hour & late- night crowd, worthy East Village mainstay!
This place is great. Food, Drinks and Service... Especially for Brunch.
Great Value. Food is always fresh.
Best Michelada is NYC.
Duke, Nikki and Daniel are always welcoming. Service is solid.
Legit Mexican food.
I had a reservation at 7:30, there was a little bit of traffic (this is Manhattan), we walked in at 7:45 to find out that the hostess canceled our reservation and we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table (very disappointing). The table they gave us was hidden in the corner by itself and the waiter kept forgetting about us. We didn't get our water refilled at all and we probably would've ordered more drinks but they waiter never came over to check on us. The drinks were good but can get the same drinks at other Mexican restaurants.
Fun and lively place with solid Mexican fare and delicious margaritas. Guacamole was small & overpriced. Atmosphere was fine - small & noisy from all the people, limited decor or music unlike other Mexican restaurants we’ve been to. Tacos were fine, mole chicken was fine but nothing on what I’ve had elsewhere. Vegetable sides were small. It ended up being a lot less food than we normally eat at Mexican restaurants but somehow more expensive. Not as good as other Mexican restaurants we’ve been to in the East Village, but not a bad option especially if you like margaritas.
El Camion was not quite what this group of 50-somethings expected. We were definitely among the oldest people there and the space was quite loud, but the delicious drinks and fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine made up for it. The mole was fantastic and the margaritas were excellent. Definitely will return when in the neighborhood.
I am pretty upset, I had changed my reservation from 8:30 to 7:45 and from 6 to 4 people online. When I got to dinner they did not know that those changes had been made and I had to wait for 45 minutes to be seated. Very dissapointed in open table
Everything was great! Service, food and ambiance. The prices are very reasonable.
