El Torito - Irvine
Using the freshest ingredients and boldest flavors, our menu offers a range of quintessential Mexican food, along with culinary innovations we know guests will love. We are known best for our tableside preparations, including our made-to-order guacamole and flame-grilled fajitas, which arrive sizzling to the table.
Our standard is great, and we don’t do anything without passion. Over 60 years, we’ve learned a lot about Mexican food, like how not to mess it up.
Waiter was super rude , we felt rush . Not friendly . Will not recommend for special occasions .
My server sucked . Ruined my experience. That can really make or break a night .
Large departure from the El Torito Grill on Macarthur where reservations had been made. appreciate the effort to accommodate all of the people in this place, but it is an older venue, and the wait staff were running in an attempt to cover the customer base...which I am guessing was much larger than normal. Nice try. We tipped the server well, as she did as well as she could under the circumstances. Restaurant needs an interior remodel or update, including bathrooms. I am not going to answer the next question, as I have had years of experience with El Torito restaurants which were great, but you default me to yes. Hope my comments are recorded with that response.
It was very crowded. Our food took over an hour to be served. The server was apologetic and did comp us some salads while we waited. It looked kind of old and rundown inside. Probably will not be back, at least not on a weekend night.
Perfection in presentation
It was really nice. Sat out in the covered patio. Our server was very attentive and food got there quickly.
We were unaware El Torito, Newport Beach (across from airport) only had single price buffet (all you can eat) on Sundays. We were seated and not informed of this, waited for service which didn't appear, and finally I got up and asked for menus. They explained the buffet cost $29.99 for all you can eat. Don't think it included alcohalic drinks. We decided it was too expensive and got up and left...... Also, it was noisy and chaotic, not the prior style El Torito with good service and good menu to pick from (and lower pricing for ordering just what you want).
Great food and service

We went for Mother’s Day and originally thought we got our reservation after brunch but they extended brunch until 3pm. We thought we would have time to eat and have our food warm but we got less than 30 minutes to get any food and they didn’t warn us that they would be taking everything out. We felt rushed and didn’t even get service apart from the server and buser constantly asking if we were done with our meals. My aunt had all her food cold and it wasn’t special at all. The server attempted to make it right by going to the kitchen to get a single piece of flan from the dessert table they had cleared. We weren’t even asked if we wanted to get the menu for lunch since we didn’t even eat. The whole thing cost $115 for cold leftover food. It was not our best experience at this restaurant and we would never eat brunch there again.
Mother’s Day brunch was extremely crowded. Long lines for food, but the food was fantastic. Well worth the price. The amount of food and choices were impressive. Overall, a great experience.

Lines were very long because of the new brunch buffet set up because of the pandemic. I will hold off going to this buffet until regulations relax even more or until there is more staff available to serve the patrons. It was very messy and the experience for my family and me was not good.
Two of us had a 9:15 reservation for Mother's Day Brunch and were seated fairly quickly. There were more people seated outdoors under the tents (we think larger groups) than indoors, which we preferred since it was a chilly morning.
There were no people in line at the main entree buffet, but by the time we were ready to try other stations, the restaurant had filled up indoors. The line to the main entrees was long and guests were not socially distancing, although everyone kept their masks on except when seated for eating.
Service was fair; however, we were expecting more choices. Food could have been warmer. The taco station was also disappointing. We usually enjoy flan but that day it was very bland and tasteless and without caramel sauce unless it was self-serve.
We are saying we would recommend El Torito Irvine to a friend but there is no "maybe" as a choice.
Wonderful meal, very friendly and fantastic service. Great evening out!

Alejandra M. was an exceptional waitress.
Our server Sharlene was amazing! We loved her friendliness and exceptional service! It was a great Sunday brunch because of her!
Sad to say, we sat outside on a semi-nice day. But when the sun went down it definitely got cold. All of their heaters were broken. Server kept putting food in front of the wrong people and forgetting things. He even placed a margarita in front of my 10-year-old child. Food was very poor quality. Order the fajitas and the steak was extremely dry and only had two slices of bell pepper and everything else was onion. Probably not a place I will go back to you.
Only 2 servers working. Service slow and poor. She tried her best but we waited 10-15 minds before being acknowledge and getting water.
Great place for taco Tuesday!
Easy restaurant and good place for business meeting
food tasted horrible, service was mediocre and got our order completely wrong. would not go back
or recommend to a friend.
Good food and service as always!
Very pleased to be able to return to El Torito, but disappointed in the quality of a standard item I have ordered and enjoyed for years. Great service, restaurant looks little bare with much of the traditional decor removed (for COVID).
Skip Sunday brunch and just order from the menu; not worth the price.
Alejandra is the best !!!
El Torito made our Easter brunch so enjoyable. And our waiter, David was excellent. Thanks again!
Easter Brunch, it was nice the food was good except the variety was not as good for Sunday Easter Brunch for the price!
Great place to go for taco Tuesday!
Service was incredibly slow, probably the slowest i've experienced in any restaurant in the past several years
Service was ok. Food has gone downhill lately. The steak is non edible. Chips and salsa is about as good as it gets here. Sad because it used to be so much better. Oh well
We arrived early for our reservation, not expecting to get sat earlier than our time. When we first talked to the receptionist, she told us to come back once it was time for our reservation. After waiting half an hour for it to be time for the reservation, we were told by the same lady that there were still two parties ahead of us. She estimated that we would be sat 45 minutes at least AFTER our reservation time.
Food and drinks were great as usual but we were on the outside patio and they forgot about us twice and had to go looking for our sever. Also the propane on the heater went out and since no one came out we froze for a bit. They we're very busy inside and short starve
Food and drinks were great as always! Service was a little slow and impersonal but it was Taco Tuesday so not too surprised there. Happy Hour specials were on point
Great service!! Good selection of food and the bottomless mimosas make it for a fun time.
The food is always delicious, there’s so much more I’d like to try so I’ll definitely be back again. The margarita was so good, I’ll be back to try the other cocktails! The ambiance was ok because we outside but the noise level wasn’t bad at all and the service was great!
