When I am in town on business this is one of the places I like to support. I have enjoyed many entrees on the menu and always very pleased.
Love coming here for a business lunch.
Excellent British pub with a gourmet flair. The flight of pies was a great idea since we got to sample all the options. All were good, but the chicken pot pie was outstanding. The butter chicken entrée was excellent as well.
A colleague and I had lunch at E&C Monday. We were seated promptly upon arrival and our meal was excellent!
Great food. Great service. To bad we could only sit out side . Yea how about no. It would have been nice to know that .... we could have just ordered delivery.
So we ordered take out and took
It back ....
Great food
To bad ... hope they make it
Great dinner at Elephant and Castle. It was a cold rainy night and so nice to go into the warm cozy restaurant and relax, drink and eat.
Our Server was EXCELLENT, we had just gotten off and stopped in for a bite and drinks before heading home. Even though we arrived 30 minutes prior to closing our server was patient, helpful and very informative of the new guidelines for drinking after 10pm due to Covid-19, without being rude or pushy. The food was good nothing overly amazing but good, the service will bring us back though hopefully at an earlier time.
Asked us to wait 10 minutes for our table, we didn’t mind. Then they closed down due to “escalating protests.” Manager claimed Capitol police said they should shut down. Asked police and they said they hadn’t talked to the owner, nor were things escalating. Bummer we didn’t get to eat.
I had the most pleasant and relaxing experience. The food was superb. Would give a lot of extra stars.
I’ve been to different Elephant and castle restaurants before and they always had great food, but the service here was great! I also enjoyed the patio with the plants and flowers, nice atmosphere.
Loved having British pub food while visiting Washington DC.
We sat outside. At noon we were the only patrons there. The shepherds pie and fish & chips were amazing! We will definitely be back!
We loved the Irish pub atmosphere of this restaurant. The fish and chips were very good, but a little heavy on the breading. We appreciated the plentiful side sauces for the meals. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant! Overall a very nice experience. We will return to this restaurant when we are back in the DC area.
Loved the outdoor dining experience - what a great job they've done in the COVID era!
Service started out slow (took forever to get our cocktails order) but then improved for the rest of the dinner. Fish tacos are terrific, and the fish & chips are what you'd expect in London, so that's a good thing! Short walk to the White House after dinner to see it all lit up for the evening, which was a nice end to the evening.
The waiter never refilled water, was rude and exceptionally slow. We love this restaurant normally but we went two times last week and had poor service both time. The last time even the pot pies were less than half full. It was such a waste of money (over $150- six of us) and for a special occasion. Not sure whether to return again.
Excellent place to eat. Fish and Chips and Bangers and Mash are the best!
Low quality food, but fine as a bar. Would not recommend for food. Downtown prices but applebees quality
This pub was quiet for a Friday night. There were 3 other tables indoors other than us. There were a few tables outside. I had the Butter chicken & my husband had bangers & mash. The food was average, but the service was good. it must be tough to ramp back up to pre-Covic levels. Even though this is supposed to be a British pub, they didn’t have any Bitters other than Guinness. We are visiting from Colorado and wanted to help local businesses. I would come back again for a casual meal.
One cook and limited servers...they were working hard
I have eaten here since I came to US Customs and Border Protection in 2005. I have always had a wonderful experience.
It was a good experience .. much of the surrounding roads were closed off.. leading to a very quiet area. Service was great and very quick and responsive Thank you Tanya! Food was great I had the veggie Vindaloo which was flavor full and fulling. I would def visit this spot again.
The restaurant was dirty and the service atrocious. We made reservations but it took them 10 minutes to even notice us even though the place was practically empty
Service was lousy! Server never came back to check on us after he took our order, never came back to see if we received the correct food order or to ask if we needed anything. My son finished his water and I had to give him mine so he had something to drink! We had to flag him down to get our check! Very disappointed with the service since the food was very good.
Annual visit to DC
Very friendly casual tavern with good English tavern food!
Glad I can always count on this establishment to provide a nice last-minute option for taking the team to lunch. Service has typically been great and you can’t beat the location.
Good venue for a group from a Trump Hotel conference.
Fish and chips were great, salmon was dry, overcooked
Terrible. Shame because we have enjoyed it before. Won’t go back.
Tried to go fro a quick dinner before a show at National Theatre. Total fail unless you feel like waiting 50 minutes for food after ordering and telling your server you were in a hurry. We ordered burgers and soup.
Food and drinks were all good. Later that night my wife and daughter got extremely sick. Something was off with their meals and the aftermath was awful.
Great food but very poor service tonight. Seemed to be short staff because EVERYTHING took way too long. Drinks, food, dessert.
Great food but slow service. Appetizer came only after dinner came.
Used to love this place... not sure what’s happened. Several regular menu items were not available. Their signature cocktail “Old Fashioned”... not able to make it? They’ve changed the menu, and are missing a few old favorites. Lettuce wraps are gone. Fish tacos were not up to par at all. Looks like I’ll be finding a new pre-theater spot. Sad, because their neighbor “Del Frisco’s” was more consistent, but they’ve closed.
Had drinks and food after the NATS parade. Crowd was great. Considering the crowds and the excitement, the staff did a great job.
Forget reservations. They only take for large groups.
This was the worst dinner I ever experienced. Waiter forgot to put our order into the kitchen - after waiting an hour. Manager was not helpful at all. Neither the waiter nor manager came to our table to apologize for the bad experience. When our food did finally arrive (75 minutes after placing the order) is was luke warm at best. This restaurant is not worth going to
I waited 10 minutes for someone to come take my drink order and overheard the servers saying they didn't want to wait on my table (presumably they wanted to end their shifts and not stay waiting on us). From then on service was pretty good, a little slow for a very empty restaurant. The draft beer selection was pretty good. I had a black bean burger which was pretty good.
Great time. Good time had by all. Nice server, very attentive.
Service was just ok, kitchen made several errors which were promptly fixed. Steak and mushroom pie was the best entree. Very disappointed in the brownie Sundae. Very thick, cakey, dry brownie without much flavor.
Consistent quality and service. Separate gluten-free menu, which explains how to order regular menu-items GF.
