Really great relaxed Sunday brunch. The food was good and margaritas brilliant. But, what made it was the service. Everyone was great from start to finish. The only negative about the place is the decor, just bizarre. Bit like being in BHS in 1975.
Food excellent, really varied, colourful and tasty. Service and their recommendations was fantastic.
The food was not good at all. Both my husband and his friend got sick after.
The atmosphere is really cool. The service is amazing! I was expecting more of the food to be honest, but was nice to visit.
Excellent all round. Would recommend. Will certainly return.
Wonderful Mexican food, interesting flavours and presentation. The staff were absolutely lovely and very knowledgeable.
I really enjoyed the brunch with my friends. However my baby chicken dixh was not cooked properly, there was blood & the meat was still clinging to the bones. It felt awkward to complain as no one asked during our meal if it was ok and we were all chatting and having a good time. I wouldn't come back for that reason.
The service was exceptional, we had a Colombian waiter who was very attentive and made the experience worth it. Food was quite disappointing, they took it to far with the innovation and lost the local flavours.
Expensive for what it was. Very little choice for an inexpensive bottle of wine. Staff were really helpful - one of us didn't enjoy their main course and the staff were really happy to exchange this for something else. Starter was very good and also the desserts. Not sure I would come back - only if I picked a couple of the starters.
Excellent service, waiters knew the menu very well and were able to advise well. Food was good but nothing wow considering the prices this goes for the cocktails too.
The food was exceptional (octopus starter followed by rack of lamb) and the service good and helpful especially as our knowledge of Mexican food is limited. The ambiance was awful however apparently modelled on a 1930’s British Rail waiting room, think 50 Shades of Brown made worse by uninspired lighting. Such a shame as the food was so good but despite this inexplicable poor decor we will return to sample some more of the excellent dishes.
Lovely restaurant - impressive list of tequilas and margaritas - food was nice but some dishes a little more bland than expected. The rice pudding with rum and raisin ice cream was a highlight.
It was an amazing evening, lovely food and great service. My only disappointment would be about the wine pre ordered. The white wine I originally chose was changed before the evening, and then on the evening that wine was in short supply, so needed to choose another. My choice of pre ordered red wine was also in short supply on the night and the alternative offered was okay but it wasn’t a full bodied red like a Malbec. The lady kept saying she had only found out about the wine requests an hour ago, the wine was pre ordered a month before, so this shouldn’t have been my issue. Otherwise we had a lovely evening celebrating my birthday.
Not bad but not appealing enough to return. We visited early evening and when I booked it several weeks prior I had been attracted by an early bird deal. However, even though we arrived for 6:30 we were only offered the a la carte menu. It was a bit embarrassing try to persuade the waiter that we should be able to have a pre-theatre menu. Service was attentive but hard to understand the strong Mexican/Spanish accent. Food was fine but not outstanding.
It was a very nice experience. Very enjoyable and recomendable. 😊
Brilliant food. Service was patchy. Starters came too quickly and mains took too long. Servers were very pleasant though. I would go back again.
A twist on Mexican gourmet food, and as always amazing staff
Absolutely stunning meal.
The service was really excellent. The staff were attentive and really eager to help with menu choices and share their favourite dishes as well as make recommendations based on flavours you, the diner, like and dislike. However, I was expecting a bit more. The tortillas were amazing but the pulpo was fried to the nth degree (tough despite the server saying it was going to be so tender), the pico de gallo was so so. The tamal was lovely (amazing coming from me considering I don't like tamal). But nothing blew me away at all. Maybe for London this is good value for money and it's probably the best Mexican food you can get in the UK but the standards are pretty low. I think Ella Canta has done and can do better.
Brilliant food and staff, highly recommend. Pre theatre menu was great value.
Amazing food especially with the brunch offer. Really friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely be back!
The restaurant is beautiful.
I expected more from the service and the food.
Service was painfully slow. Even when we mentioned this, it didn’t get better.
Food was nice but nothing special. For the price I wanted it to be amazing. Sadly it wasn’t.
I really wanted to love this place but I don’t.
Tasting menu was not as good as a la carte. Tasting menus normally tend to reflect best dishes. Service a little slow seemed like they were having an off day.
Fantastic evening meal at Ella Canta. Celebrated my boyfriends 30th and the food was incredible. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Highly recommend
Incredible food! Servers recommended dishes to our tastes and drinks to go with it. Mexican food done right, which is difficult to find in London!
Seriously one of the best meals we have ever had. We will go back - my wife insists! We dined a la carte and every dish we had was just a wonderful experience. Wonderfully attentive and helpful staff.
We just loved it!
Friendly, informed staff who obviously loved the food as well.
An amazing experience in a beautiful restaurant. Will be back!!
The service was incredible and the food was delicious.
Great food and outstanding service from Emmanuel. We will be back!
Really good service, lovely atmosphere and super food
Went there with hight expectation. Some of the food was really lack of taste, some confusion with the right wine - wrong bottle first, next one with a cork and the right one almost to be poured in the glasses with the cork-wine. Asked by the waiter if we want more homemade chips with guacamole - but then they charged on the bill. Same with extra tortillas. Leaves a strange feeling. Positive: birthday cake on the house, generally friendly staff.
There was a very noisy group next to us. Made it impossible to talk in the whole section. Maybe a bit of sealing soundproofing can help, you need some mix sometimes between having buzz and it becoming too much...
Great food and drinks, very friendly staff and fun atmosphere. Staff seemed to enjoy themselves but were very professional and attentive at all times. We received a small suprise cake slice, which was a very nice gesture as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We will be back!
Service very disjointed. Music way too loud, hard to converse with dinner companion. Food very disappointing - all style over substance. Not remotely 1* Michelin, am very confused why it attained this rating.
Service for the drinks was too slow
Food was tasty but octopus and pork options too small
Great experience, went for my mums birthday and food was amazing. We had a little issue with the ‘unlimited margaritas’ as we had only been given two in the 90 minutes allotted to them. However they made up for this by extending it and bringing them more frequently after that
Saw this restaurant when the contestants on Masterchef visited to do a service in the kitchen and loved the look of the food. I generally find Mexican food in the UK disappointing but this was absolutely wonderful. The staff are knowledgeable and really friendly. They gave us an evening to remember. The Tres Leches (3 milks) cake is worth going back for alone. Stunning. I will be returning for sure next time I am in London.
I have been twice to Ella Canta and tried many things on the menu and I have mixed feelings. First- the food is beautifully presented, however overall just falls flat. The stand-out is definitely the black bean soup with fois gras..and the beef cheek, but only when they give you the black hot sauce. All the dishes I have tried are nice, but honestly lack the depth that Mexican food should have...I lived in the US for years and was spoilt with the quality of Mexican food and in comparison, Ella Canta just doesn't quite hit the mark. I REALLY wanted to love it..and so did my husband who is quite easy to please..but he was also was a bit underwhelmed.
Final positive notes, the staff are lovely and attentive and margaritas are great. Would return for a drink and a snack..but the search for really good Mexican in London continues..
Amazing food. I loved absolutely everything. The decor, the staff is very friendly and they take the time to explain everything in the menu. I strongly recommend it.
Great food despite the signature dish wasn’t good as the rest (a 38 Pound steak with tortillas - pretty average and hard as a rock)
