First visit & first time trying authentic Mexican food. Waiter was helpful at explaining dishes. Flavours were good & care was taken with presentation. However, if you are looking for special treat & romantic evening try somewhere else.

Modern Mexican food that is both accessible (not too spicy) and exciting (not your average taco). The menu is creative using tradition Mexican flavours and does not disappoint.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. You can see & feel the attention to detail and passion that went into everything, from the design of the menu, the cocktails, the food, the music, the outfit of the staff, the tableware.... absolutely amazing and the super high quality service is what rounded up the experience and made it a really lovely evening. Can only highly recommend the restaurant.

A number of stellar dishes- especially the ceviche and other seafood dishes. Service was at a fixed pace which would have been fine had we not had an 8pm at RAH which was communicated . Will definitely be back to give the menu and food the time it deserves

I cannot understand why this restaurant is not booked to the hilt on a Friday night. From the warm reception by the Frido Khalo hair adorned hostesses to the smiley friendly service staff this place is just amazing. Beautiful decor modern with glints of traditional Mexican embellishment pure class. Cocktails interesting and delicious recommend the margarita (orange marmalade) so refreshing.
Food - well let’s say a notch above Coya whim I love abs comparible to Lima. Delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. Our lovely Italian waiter was knowledgeable and gave some great recommendations. I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name. Thoroughly enjoyable evening start to finish. Thank you

The place has a great ambience and the food was great, nicely presented and very tasty. The portions were generous too. The service was always friendly and with a smile, but a bit clumsy especially during the beginning. The drinks took long to arrive and there was a bit of confusion as to who was looking after our table as several different waiters came to the table to take orders for our drinks while we already ordered. The bottle of wine that we ordered was presented to our table and then the waiter started conversation with the table next to us, so after waiting a few minutes the wine was actually served. We asked in advance if it was possible to arrange something for our birthday guest. Upon arrival we double checked at reception and they mentioned they could do a decorated birthday dessert which we agreed to. Once we ordered the desserts they forgot about the birthday request so we then had to ask someone to still arrange something after our desserts were already served. All in all we did have a great evening and enjoyed the food and the ambience. The service was also very attentive, however could have been a lot more streamlined.

Fabulous authentic inventive Mexican food. This is as far from Tex-Mex as Ramsey is from McDonalds!

Restaurant layout is odd and lacks a bit of buzz when not busy (we were there Friday lunchtime).

We had the tasting menu on a Tuesday evening.

The food was lacklustre at best, the waiter mentioned ‘explosion of flavours’ more than once when introducing dishes...a dull thud was our experience. It was just not very tasty or exciting at all even the lauded Mole...

The room has a poor ambience, and our table for four had a curios ‘J’ shape to it that meant my partner was a distance away at an odd angle...very strange...

The service was fine and the Margaritas are good.

At over £110 per head with only a couple of Margaritas this was one of the worst value dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

Haute Mex - falling short of the mark for anyone who has spent time in Mexico City (some very bland flavors ) and is expensive but our waiter Vladimir (if it had not been for him we would have walked out early) made the occasion.

We were warned by a staff member at the Intercontinental Hotel, who we told we were dining at Ella Canta, to have patience with the service, another staff member told us to go for drinks but "we might like to dine elsewhere". After our experience, I would say they were right to some extent. We found that we were treated correctly by some staff members, such as the maitre, however, our server was overly familiar and relaxed and showed a complete lack of interest trying to resolve an issue we had. The restaurant was really quiet, just another 2 or 3 tables, so there wasn't much atmosphere either. We were a group and ordered various dishes to share, so we tried many of the plates on the menu. Some we liked, some we didn't. Probably wouldn't go back.

Good Mexican food is hard to find in London, so I try everything to see what’s tolerable and what’s off my list. There are maybe three places in the city that make me feel that they understand the flavours and combinations of Mexican food. Ella Canta is definitely not a traditional Mexican style, but the flavours are spot on. The Aztec soup had the perfect flavour of a traditional tortilla soup served in a different way. Ceviche was fresh and presented well. The pork carnitas tasted like home with the fresh-pressed corn tortillas. The only meh dish at the table was the chicken. It was just ok and didn’t exhibit the traditional flavours or the other dishes.
Service was good but a bit on the slow side.
Margaritas were a bit small and would do with better presentation as blended rather than no ice.
Overall, I would definitely recommend and will go again. But don’t expect it to look like Baja style, New Mexico style, or have refried beans and rice.

It is great to have real nouveau cuisine Mexican in Mayfair, ‘in the middle’ of London. The spirit of Mexico City’s Dulce Patria -Ortiz’ restaurant-, is felt since the entrance. Waiters are as nice as in Mexico City, the menu is incredible, the food, delicious!!!

Outstanding food and service. Husband is Mexican and I lived there for many years and this is hands down the most authentic Mexican food we have eaten in the UK exquisitely prepared. Not cheap but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. We had brunch with our limited margaritas which were unbelievably good. Lunch menu looks pretty accessible and we will definitely be going again.

Thank you to the chef Martha Ortiz for being so wonderful when she met us and the amazing friendly staff and manager at Ella Canta for a fabulous meal, experience and a slice of beautiful Mexico in London! Hugely inspired by Frida Kahlo too which made me love it even more! I shall return or visit the restaurant in Mexico City!

Had to wait 50 minutes for our pre-booked table and we weren't offered a drink or apology.
Our waitress was lovely but the sommelier when asked for wine recommendations would start at the £100+ bottles which we found odd, there was a heavy push to sell.

In general the food was ok, and the restaurant had great ambience.

We arrived with a group of six people for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Very attentive staff, amazing Mexican food and very good margaritas. The venue has a nice feel to it as well. Our friend with lactose intolerance was served some alternatives that looked almost better than the regular fair. The waiter always made sure we had everything we needed and looked after us well. Can 100% recommend it.

Went for the lunch set menu, left hungry and had to stop for sandwiches afterwards. Still cost over £100 with cocktails, which were disgusting. The food looked pretty, with beautiful colours, but that didn't compensate for the lack of flavour and tiny portions. The room is bleak and has no redeeming features and service was poor. Won't be returning.

Great last dinner for our London weekend. Restaurant was beautiful and the staff was amazing. Everybody was very professional and super friendly. Glasses were never empty from water (or other drinks). The food was really good, but with interesting combinations I've never tasted before. It really shows that Mexican food is more than Tex-Mex tacos and burritos. The guacamole was a great starter and the chocolate/corn cake was devine! A little bit more expensive that our regular dinner out, but wortih it, mostly because of the staff and the atmosphere they set. Would deffinetly recommend this restaurant for special occasions, or for a more fancy dinner out.
