Reportedly the best Mexican food in the UK these days. I have picked this restaurant because it offers an interesting change from the gourmet's French and Modern British diet in London. Overall I had never experienced Mexican food before, but I found the tasting menu rather "interesting homemade cooking" than the "fine dining" the place advertises in: all courses nice and okay, but not a single outstanding dish that comes to my memory even just a couple of days later. Service was slow (waited almost 30 minutes for my first cocktail and had two courses in the meantime) and sometimes seemed a bit inexperienced, but was always polite and interested. Bottom line: most memorable were the Mexican-inspired cocktails, I would definitely come back for these, yet not to necessarily to dine if the food stays on a "mom's cooking" level.

Impeccable service to accompany a delectable meal and out-of-this-world margaritas. The staff were polite, friendly and great at suggesting menu options. The cocktails and food were authentic, fresh and delicious ! We spent 4 hours there over a wonderful meal.

I was aware of Martha Ortiz’s new London restaurant and had dined at Dulce Patria in méxico city. So, I was excited to take my London friend to the Intercontinental at Hyde Park Corner and the Ella Canta restaurant.

Our server, Manuel, appeared also to be a front manager, at least based on his manner, ease, and knowledge. He was engaging and talked foodie with me given we’d done our homework on Ortiz and the restaurant’s specialties. He suggested options where needed in the ordering process and gave detailed input on the dishes.

We opted for the tasting menu and added the Cordero main, even though we knew it was to be a lot of food. We also selected the bottomless margaritas, which were great. There were four unique, signature margaritas, which were tasty and creative. We then had classic margaritas, all part of the lunch menu.

The meal itself was lovely. Great flavors, spicy add-ons like salsa negra and habanero purée for the adventurous. The lamb and beef were highlights, the guacamole fresh and bright, and the tortillas were tender and housemade.

We saved room for dessert, and Manuel surprised us with a tres leches cake, which was not on the day menu. I asked about it, as it’s one of my favorite desserts, and Manuel made it happen. Needless to say, he went out of his way to make this a lovely, special lunch. We ate no dinner that day, as the portions were plenty. Highly recommend.

When I heard this Mexican inspired restaurant had opened in London I couldn't wait to give it a try. Lovely restaurant, interiors, atmosphere and music. Service was excellent and the staff are more than accommodating with any dietary requirements. However, having been to Mexico and also being a home cook that loves flavour - I felt the food lacked all of that. Everything lacked flavour, pizazz and felt like at one point I could be eating a big pie of the same ingredients. Bland and disappointing.

The food was delicious...authentic Mexican food with a twist. Not your usual Nachos or Fajitas type menu, but delicious "secret recipe" Mole and salsas with slow cooked duck, pork etc...
Fabulous service... warm and friendly and prompt.

I had been to Ella Canta a couple of times before and had enjoyed the experience but this time we were somewhat let down. The brunch menu without margaritas should have been £35 but they were going to charge us £45 and then a £5 supplement was added to our bill for a dish which as far as we could tell was not advertised as such on the menu. We were also charged extraand for refilling some taco chips. It left a sour taste at the end of an otherwise enjoyable meal.

We didn't enjoy our diner due a very noisy environment and a poor service.
We were a diner of 3 and they sit as in two not leveled tables creating an uncomfortable experience. We asked to changed the tables and they changed to a bad moody faces. We ordered to drinks in the mean time and just arrived one.
We asked for two tasting menu and 1 a la carte menu and the waiter told us that he would ask for it and he will let us know it. We changed the table and a new waiter come o take the orthers. The drinks haven't arrived yet (1 bottle of water and 1 Diet Coke). We explained him we want 2 tasting and 1 a la carte and he told us that we couldn't because it's a policy to order all the table tasting or a la carte. So we asked for a couple of minutes more and then we ordered. They start to bring the food and the drinks hasn't arrived yet! After half an hour for a bottle of water and a 200ml Diet Coke (4£) I had already finished my pint of beer. Imagine all the spicy starters and we without drinks,
Then all the service was poor, very slow. 25-30 minutes between the 2 starters and 3 mains.
All the tables next to us asked for their bills, the paid, they left. Waitress cleaned their tables and they set them up again. And our mains never arrived. When they brought them. There was wrong. So we need to wait until they prepare a new one.
The duck with mole plate was disgusting. They burn the mole so it was extra bitter. If you have ever tried burned chocolate you will know what I am talking about.
The atmosphere was very lousy. The music was to high so customer were all shouting.
We order the bill and then we ordered a taxi (25 minutes). After asking for it 2 more times, we finally paid 3 minutes before the taxi arrived.
We were there for an special occasion and we won't come back again.

Great food and setting, but what really made it special was our waiter. Manuel was extremely knowledgeable about all the food we ordered, and as quite a foodie myself, this made the meal all the more interesting and exciting. He went into details about how all of the meals we had were made in kitchen, where they are from in Mexico, and just really gave the entire meal some really nice and unique context (which I haven't necessarily experienced elsewhere). My friend has quite severe allergies to particular food allergens, and he noticeably took extra care to make sure he was comfortable. Fully recommend it, and looking forward to my next visit.

Had the misfortune to take my partner here for her birthday. The food was basic for the prices being charged and od adverage quality. I ordered the duck main course and was I received was a glorified starter. The duck was greasy and inedible, the rice portion was tiny and over all, the dish was a joke. This place thinks it’s way better than what it is, needless to say it spoiled our night out and I will not be returning to this expensive overrated excuse for a restaurant

Friendly, professional service. Creative, delicious, authentic food. Though the restaurant was fairly empty, it was still so noisy as to be difficult to talk after two full tables of 20-30 years olds came in. Recommend to go early to avoid noisy neighbours. Otherwise fabulous and will go again.

Level of noise is outrageous. It is just like a night club, not a restaurant. Food is fine. Service started nice, but after a large group of people arrived, their attention was lost completely. We were waiting for 1 drink for almost 15 minutes. Extremely loud music made it impossible to enjoy the food anyway.

I went to have a Sunday brunch with a group of friends and I was gladly surprised by this restaurant. We wanted to try a different brunch and this was a perfect choice. We decided to take the 3 course option, share it all and ask the waiter for suggestions as to what to order. He was very nice and chose perfectly for us. Plus, I loved the tasting menu of delicious margaritas that came with the brunch.
I will definitely recommend this place.
