ELY Wine Bar – Dublin 2
Opened in 1999 Ely has been recognised as Ireland’s leading wine bar from the start, continuously awarded best wine bar with Wine Spectator recognising it for Best of Award of Excellence in 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 saying "This restaurant is honored by Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.” And The Sunday Business Post awarding it Best Wine Bar in Ireland 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 saying "Ely is the class-leading, category-defining exemplar. Not content with sourcing some of the world’s best wines Ely also takes food provenance and seasonality very seriously, sourcing their grass-fed organic beef and pork from their own family farm in the Burren along the Wild Atlantic Way on Ireland’s west coast.

A lovely cosy restaurant in Dublin City. Food and drink very tasty and staff couldn’t do enough for you. Thank you I will definitely be returning
Always an excellent lunch, best salad and best soup n sandwich combo around...feels like treat but great value
Service was great - right level of attention and very friendly staff! However, the food was lacking seasoning and everything felt over-indulgent - far too much butter on the side of baby carrots! My cod dish was massively lacking salt and was very oily in general, I added salt and the only thing that cut through the oil was the dressing on the side salad.
Food bland, underseasoned. Cauliflower dish luke warm - soup beyond bland. Friendly waiters and the cocktails and wine were delicious. Unfortunetly food was a let down.
Excellent choice after a show in the gaiety. It’s very close.
We had a reasly lovely evening. It was a 60th, we really enjoyed our pre-dinner drink. I loved tbe ambience when at our table. Our waitress was very helpful when selecting from menu - during dinner attentive but not intrusive. Foid was delicious. We really enjoyed our evening and highly recommend - well worth a visit
Wonderful food, really good service. Very well priced bottle of Picpoul. We all had fish. Cod from the menu and halibut special. Loved the selection of IRISH cheeses as well. Looking forward to going back soon.
Fantastic as always
Arrived at Ely about 8.15 on Saturday to a warm and friendly welcome. Great service, superb food and wine all combined to make for a very enjoyable evening. Lovely casual but energetic buzz all evening in Ely and wonderful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely return soon.
We had a great evening. Food was perfectly nice and exactly what we were after(steak and duck mains)The wine was spot(Malbec) and the waitress Rebecca couldn’t have been better, knowledgeable, funny and just the right amount of attention.
Very enjoyable experience.. our waitress was very friendly & the food was excellent. We were under no pressure to leave our table at any point .. am looking forward to going back
Food is so good, lovely staff and excellent service. Best fish & chips in D2 👍
The service was fantastic and the food was delicious, I would definitely recommend it. Early bird is great value too
Never disappoints! Consistently good food..superb staff and one of the best wine lists in Dublin. Always a pleasure to spend an evening at Ely.
I regularly visit Ely Wine Bar for lunch and it is one of my favourite venues for excellent food, service and ambience.
Our group of 4 had a lovely meal in Ely's last Saturday. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was very good. Only my starter of cured salmon was disappointing. It was just a few small pieces of salmon and a piece of very sweet brown bread. The other starters were fine.
Had a lovely evening at Ely. I hadn't eaten there in years as I like to try new restaurants and it's hard to keep up with all the new openings. However, oldies are goodies and I will be back soon. Great location, atmosphere, food and service. Best of all, the fabulous wine list!!
We were dissapointed in the food which we felt was overpriced and not of good quality. My wife paid €32 for a steak and chips. THe steak was tough and somewhat overcooked and the chips soggy.
THere was a good selection of wines available but all very pricey.
Service v slow and impossible to get anyones attention to order after initial order taken. Usually a lot better, will give it another try one day.
Great atmosphere service and food. . I would highly recommend Ely Wine bar in Ely place
It would help more information in the web site: only menu is served (but I saw some dishes not in the menu around...), it takes 2 hours for a three courses lunch. We had a very nice guy from mexico attending us and was the only one worried about the delay between course and course (other staff could really improve). I was expecting a minestrone soup but I ate one of the best pisto (typical spanish dish) of my life, congratulations. The cod was outstanding as well. The risotto not at the same level, sorry. We could not try the desserts because of the time.
We made our booking for 1.30 and received our starters abt an hr later and had to ask for our mains at 3.30. Appreciate it was a rugby day, we were attending the match too but we were very rushed eating our dinner. Food lovely and staff very pleasant and apologetic and gave us Irish coffees leaving. We also liked the venue.
Great night! Enjoyed the food, drinks and ambiance. The only thing that let it down was the slow service. However all the staff were very friendly.
Great time. And lovely food but options for vegetarians would be welcome.
Best food and service we have experienced in a long time. Friendly and informative waiting staff and food was flawless!
Food was absolutely delicious and the recommended wine was lovely. Really enjoyed the evening with an entertaining waiter who enjoyed our banter. The refurbishment looks well, maybe a little dark but other than that we have no complaints.
Excellent as always
Great meal in an excellent setting. Perhaps the world's greatest burger. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
As always excellent service and wonderful food and wine.
Ely continues to be one of the best wine bars in Dublin
Did a write up on TripAdvisor the last time we were there and the same applies to last Friday. Lorcan was great and am looking forward to to our next visit in the very near future 🥂
We had a delightful time on New Year’s Eve. The set menu was delicious and reasonably priced. We sat upstairs and had a great table by the fire. As always, the service was efficient; our waiter was welcoming and entertaining. Needless to say, the wines were wonderful.
It was NYE and my Mum's first visit to Ely. The staff made us feel very welcome and special. The food was fab - a fixed menu for the night that was in it, with lots of gorgeous options, so we were delighted. Mum is still raving about how lovely, and knowledgeable, the staff were to anyone who'll listen :-). Happy new year to all.
New year’s eve
Ely is a classic Dublin restaurant which never disappoints. One of Ireland's top wine selections.
I had a gorgeous meal and the service and atmosphere was excellent, will definitely be coming back.
Consistently nice food good wines and great service
Entered at 2 minutes to 8 for a booking at 8 i had booked during the week to be told sorry the chefs have closed we tried to call you. I showed my phone and the 3 missed calls i had gave the venue to confirm my table. The worst service iv had in dublin or should i say no service as my booking didnt count. I looked forward to going here tonight and very disappointed my booking didnt mean f... all.
Have been here many times and always enjoyed it. However was disappointed with our experience on Sunday 22nd. No where at any stage when I was booking did it mention it was a set menu (which when presented had no price so we had to ask the cost !) When we said we wouldnt stay we were offered their Al A Carte Menu - Apparently on a Sunday they only have a Set Menu so will avoid Sundays in future :)
Excellent service, gorgeous food, and a brilliant atmosphere. Definitely coming back!
