Its inspiration comes from Emilia-Romagna, the culinary heartland of Italy and it aims to pay homage to that region and its food culture but also reflect – as we hope all our restaurants do – what a good modern restaurant should be with fantastic British produce, a brilliant and broad wine list and engaging waiters.
Upstairs is a 25 cover restaurant which can be booked for lunch and dinner whilst downstairs our walk-ins wine bar offers a shorter menu of as-it-comes dishes with over 20 wines by the glass.
The food is very good, but falls slightly between two stools in being neither classic Italian nor really creative fine dining. Food is somewhat overpriced, the wines OK but decidedly disappointing for the money.
Excellent food and great to be in a restaurant that wasn’t too noisy.
Emilia was excellent! The food, from start to finish was perfect. Service was warm and friendly. We had a great evening, all of our group eat out a lot and we all felt it was the best place we’ve been recently. Would love to come back when the weather is nicer and sit outdoors!
Wonderful new restaurant in Mayfair from the team behind Clipstone, Portland and Quality Chop House. Great menu and wine list, and excellent presentation. Although pricing is rather robust, the space is intimate and therefore quite buzzy when full. I’d certainly go back!
The food is exquisite, and very true to its namesake. The waiting staff offered no suggestions for either food or wine? Most Italian’s would never order until everything was discussed. It certainly would have added to the ambiance. That said, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We finished our wine outside to enjoy the warm afternoon. On the pricey side, but great for a special occasion.
Fantastic in every way , amazing food & wonderful service.
I read a review of this restaurant that basically said it was highway robbery, but you’d enjoy every minute of it. I found this to be accurate — the price point of the menu skews high, but the food and service we’re both impeccable. It was special — intimate, solicitous, and delicious. Perfectly lovely.
a slightly unexpected delight - highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and wine list . Interesting and novel. Def worth a repeat list .
Hands down the best Italian restaurant in London. Superb food, incredible service and a lovely ambience.
Never trust reviews. Journalists often have an ulterior reason to being kind to a restaurant - as seems to be the case here. The food has nothing to do with Emilia Romagna. One of the waiters commented that, as prosciutto and parmigiana are part of the menu, it must have. Overall, I did not find the food memorable and thought the atmosphere was rather dead. I am a journalist myself and visited with a view to include Emilia in my new travel guide (published in Germany). Sadly, I cannot.
Lovely food and great service, not cheap, but worth it.
Small, intimate setting, good wine list, excellent food. A real hidden gem. Would recommend.
Top quality Italian with bright and enthusiastic staff. Quality of the dishes was exemplary. The only disappointment was the limited and slightly boring choices of main dish just one vegetarian, one fish and one meat. The rest of the menu was exciting. Excellent value wines.
Excellent, innovative and good value
The food was great, the service excellent, the ambiance perfect.
Delicious as always
Superior ingredients, very accomplished cooking. Rabbit tagliatelle and crispy pig's trotter especially delicious. Accessible wine list. The staff are charming and if the location were better it might be the perfect restaurant!
I VISITED THIS NEW(ISH) RESTAURANT WITH A FRIEND FOLLOWING AN E-MAIL FROM THE OWNERS WHO RUN QCH. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, THE NEGRONIS FANTASTIC, THE STAFF CHARMING AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MAKING A RETURN VISIT WITH MORE FRIENDS. 10/10
We found the venue to be excellently appointed, the staff attentive and the lunchtime menu well thought out and delicious.
Wonderful food, friendly and helpful staff, great value. Perfect for our anniversary
It helped that it was a warm and sunny lunchtime and that the restaurant's outside space is in a quiet courtyard off Brook Street, but lunch was excellent. The full restaurant menu is not available outside so I will definitely be going back to try that, but the limited menu that was available certainly delivered. Burrata and white peaches was just right. The tagliatelle with venison ragu was possibly a bit rich for a summer's day, but delicious. And the almond cake with apricots was well worth the calories. Service was cheerful and attentive. Not sure why the restaurant wasn't busier but I expect it is early days yet. Get there while you can still get a table!
We had a very enjoyable meal at Emilia. I was concerned about the noise level after eating at this venue when run by Bonham’s. They had two seatings and as the diners for the second seating waited in the bar below, the noise level became very distracting for first seating diners above! The new management have solved this with open seating.
The menu is excellent with several choices per course and quite varied. One can select several dishes from individual courses. The smoked eel pasta in a broth quite wonderful! A good balance between fish, meat and vegetables is maintained.
The wine list is excellent and is not restricted to Italian offerings. It is globally balanced and even includes a lovely and unusual Pinot Noir Blanc de Noir from Essex!
We shall return!
I was excited for this restaurant but overall I found the food heavy and hard to finish. The service was great.
Delicious Italian food in small, modern restaurant. Friendly service, small portions. Quiet location in cul de sac with some outdoor tables.
Fantastic! We are real “foodies” and can honestly tell that the food was incredible! The service was also excellent and we felt very cared for while we dined in a beautiful setting! The next time we are in London, we will go back! Be sure to make reservations in advance.
A thoroughly pleasant evening with my grand daughter. I was concerned that the closeness of the tables might inhibit conversation, but it was not a problem at all. Delicious dinner
Superb interpretation of Italian cooking. Wonderful wine list with many by the glass. Quiet and elegant venue with helpful and efficient unobtrusive service. Faultless.
Superb. Stunned no food and wine. Gorgeous service.
We went for a summer supper. The staff were very accommodating around our last-minute change of arrangements. Fresh, delicious, everything perfectly judged. Tremendous wine list, albeit on the pricey side of things. No hesitation in recommending.
A quiet oasis just off New Bond St., skilfully prepared food and discreet service, ideal for a quiet business lunch or a break from retail therapy.
Couldn’t wait to visit Emilia, this is the 4th member of the restaurant family and, like the others, it exceeded all our expectations! We were humbled by the food and service. The starters, mains and desserts were A+ The service is beyond excellent and the staff are second to none.
Thank you and see you very soon.
The food is out of this world, the focaccia the springiest, softest and most delicious I have ever tasted. I couldn't stop eating it. Every mouthful from the lightly crisped antipasti of zucchini fritti to the radishes with the warm, unctuous bagna cauda to the tagliatelli in rich rabbit ragu was extraordinarily in every sense. The choice of red wines complemented the flavours beautifully and the waiting staff were attentive and lovely. Don't be put off that this restaurant is attached to Bonhams, if this chef remains in the kitchen, you soon won't be able to bag a table for love nor money!
Wonderful meal and excellent service! We will definitely return!
A very special evening, which even though quite expensive, you could get away with spending less. Everything we ate was outstanding, and service had a generosity of spirit which was quite charming. Free sparkling or still water, and some extra petit fours, even though we were really too full to eat them.
First visit. We will go again.Wine excellent
Very promising given the background of the team behind it.
The food is a bit bland because it is starting I believe. I think it will improve overtime.
I am a huge fan of Clipstone and Emilia is just as good - seasonal Italian cooking at very reasonable prices; small plates so great for sharing. Great date spot with a number of fun bars nearby - we'll come again!
Great food and wine!! Lovely place. Also great drinks at bar. Favourite dish was rabbit pasta - delicious!
