Created Tom Hill and Clare Lattin of Ducksoup in Soho and Little Duck in Hackney, Emilia is their version of a small Italian Osteria (transported to the Devonshire countryside) serving seasonal, everyday Italian inspired dishes using locally grown ingredients. Tom oversees the menu and together they cook and share a love for Italian food and natural wine. The dining room is hosted by Lucy Mastroddi and Paul Seckler along with Alice Phillips.

If you want good food, this is the place to go. Everything is fresh, perfectly prepared, flavorful. Delightful. Emphasis on (northern?) Italian style cooking so be prepared. Service is excellent and friendly. Wine prices are too high but hey nothing's perfect. If you need more alcohol go to the Old Exeter Inn (where Sir Walter Raleigh was arrested for treason over 400 years ago) 30 seconds walk down the street and get a pint or a glass of wine. Reservations almost definitely required - the restaurant only seats 20 people or so. If you're visiting the area, put this on your list of must-go restaurants.

Second visit, sat at the bar and ate wonderful food and drank delicious wine and was looked after so well by Tom and his team. Absolute must visit if you are in the area.

Our evening meal was nothing short of excellent. What a refreshing and exciting eatery right here and far from the madding crowds of a city. We started off in the tiny, but perfect, wine bar across the road (owned by the same people). Here we were met with warmth and excellent service too! As we approached Emilia’s, the front door and facade already made me excited to enter. On stepping inside and through the draped entrance, there hides a romantic and intimate Italian home kitchen. There were 4 of us and when completing my booking 4 or so weeks ago, the only table left were “counter tables”. I had my reservations but being impatient, I made the booking. These counter seats were at the kitchen counter, and I think it made the experience even better. It feels like you have been invited into their home. It wasn’t frantic or chaotic - regardless of the two Chefs creating all the small plates. Our waitress was fantastic (sad that I don’t know her name!). She was warm and welcoming and allow you to try a wine before committing. I rarely find service this good outside of London’s 5-star establishments. It was wonderful. The atmosphere was so relaxed and like a home from home. Cannot fault it. The food was amazing. We ordered one of everything and nothing was left. A sensational array of flavours and combinations. I asked how often the menu changed, and I was told it will vary from week to week! I cannot wait to return. The best dining experience I have had in a long time and worth every penny. Thank you!

The food was amazing, and the staff were 10/10. The servings are on the smaller side, but fine if you can afford it as it means you can try more things!
