THE CASE OF THE CURFEW!
Having grown up in Chicago I am very familiar with the history of the prohibition era in the States. This amazing establishment does a remarkable job of transforming a space in Kensington into 1929 America. The cocktails are amazing and very unique to each themed case. The service is top notch and probably one of the most hospitable we have ever found anywhere in London.
We went on a Friday night to celebrate or commiserate the results of my wife taking the US legal bar exam. I had made note of this when booking the reservation. When we arrived the owner immediately recognized the two of us by the booking. When he found out that my wife had passed he brought us to our table and provided the best service anyone could ask for. At the end of the night he made an announcement to the venue that they would be closing and then he introduced my wife to the whole place and congratulated her for passing this exam.
We felt this was an incredible gesture and now are planning of making this our regular. If you have a chance to go just once, do it!
Often places oversell themselves but in this case, it was everything I'd hoped for and MORE! From the bespoke entry/greating to the AMAZING cocktails, everything was simply remarkable. Great attention to detail in the decor, menus and presentation. This was definitely the first of many visits! Thank you detective Evans
p.s. try his cocktail at your peril;-)
Had a great evening and meal here. Excellent fun entertainment- just the right touch. Loved the decor and general theme. Cocktails were a hit and be sure to try the chicken tenders - best I’ve ever had. Don’t be put off by the location or the somewhat low key entrance - this is a great night out and worth the trip.
Was a fun night out. Very friendly and excited staff.
Excellent experiential and personalised experience. Would highly recommend!
Definitely not the place to go to for a date. Even if food was good and the waiters nice, Music is definitely too loud for a conversation. Entrance is weird (had to knock , place hard to find, little presentation at first not needed and menu too complicated to understand.
I'm sorry your visit to the ' Agency' didn't meet your expectations. We are a 1920's Prohibition themed restaurant and bar. Hence the entrance, actors, and dark moody atmosphere( normally perfect for a date). Again we apologise it feel short of the classic experience you were expecting. Kindest Regards, Detectives Evans & Peel
A really really fun place and the cocktails were delicious! Loved the 1920s music and the actors you meet in the beginning do an outstanding job! Would definitely go back!
We had a fantastic experience! Tony the detective took our case very seriously and kept checking in with us during the evening, always in character. We loved the prohibition themed interior. Cocktails were great - the ones on the menu looked lethal but they also do the classics. The food is an accompaniment rather than the main event but tasty and the sharing portions are a good size.
We will definitely be back, having practised our Bugsy Malone accents!
Great, fun experience. Only 1 up pdate during our time there, and as we almost left without a conclusion to our case, which would have been a shame. SD was good here too.
Had the best evening at Evans and Peel Detective Agency! Started with a detective role play where you had to state your case which was really fun with entry through a secret doorway to the bar. Drinks were delicious with a keepsake Polaroid to take away. Had a great time!
I love the relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would return to try more drinks. Service was well-timed and friendly, drinks are affordable, creative and delicious."
Amazing Friday evening activity for what would have been my best friends hen party- a few drinks and some cracking theatrics really hit the spot for the bride and her 3 bridesmaids
I don't usually write reviews, actually I do think it's the first one I'm writing. I've been here twice, both times were great. I simply admire the whole concept. It's an unique experience.
Amazing welcome, role play, cocktails and atmosphere
second time back in 10 years. Not much has changed but drinks aren't as adventurous as they used to be. I liked the flair of Skull glasses or playing cards hanging out of glasses- made it quite fun. They have still got a few but many drinks were quite plain in presentation, which is disappointing for the price.
Amazing cocktails, tasty and generous food portions. Well worth the visit!!
The best cockatil bar in London! Amazing would 1000 percent go again
Fantastic place, I wouldn’t want to say too much as the place has to be experienced.
Word of warning the cocktails are very strong.
It was so cool! It was my first time going and it instantly became my new favourite bar in the UK. When I booked the table, I was only expecting a cool little bar, but it was so much better than that. As I went in I was greeted by an actor in full 1920's detective get up who played out the whole scenario of getting to know me better over a few drinks, the acting was amazing given that I had not thought this through at all and had not thought of what to say. The secret entrance to the bar which I'll keep a surprise was so cool, like some real scooby doo stuff, and then you get into the coolest and most authentic 1920's prohibition bar you've ever seen. The food was amazing and the cocktails were to die for. Honestly it was such a great night you've got to go. I promise you wont regret it. It would also be such a cool place to take someone on a date.
Fantastic cocktail experience. Expertly mixed cocktails with imaginative recipes. Staff went above and beyond to complete the illusion and create a magical atmosphere.
We didnt eat, but the food menu looked good and was reasonably priced. More of a snack type menu - I wouldn't consider it for 'dinner out'.
My partner and I just had the best night! I’d sent on a case ahead which they used and really personalised our experience. It’s not a cheap evening out, but worth every penny! Great atmosphere, good grub and tasty cocktails, but the staff stole the show-our waitress was lovely and Detective Peel was fab. Loved the jazz music and all the little finishing touches, clearly lots of thought has gone into the set up and experience.
Can’t recommend it enough for a night out. Thank you
Oh and COVID safe :)
Greeted by an entertaining and charismatic 'detective' who took us into this hidden gem of a bar. The 'themed' cocktails were pricey but worth the extra few pounds for their creativity, and ordered a 'side' of padron peppers which came in a tin with a portion big enough for dinner! We had a great night and would recommend this place to anyone looking for an indulgent evening out.
Very nice experience
Always a hoot at E&P. Highly recommended! Their cocktail list is the best around town.
Great actors, great drinks a great experience even with covid restrictions.
What an amazing experience. Well enjoyed night out.
Great experience for anyone who’s never been there
Amazing bar. Something different and quirky cocktails
A truly amazing experience! Could not recommend enough!
Awesome welcome concept. Very good experience & service
A uniquely interesting place that is perfect for date nights and groups of friends!
We had so much fun, would definately recommend to others
Love this place. Will definitely be coming back. Fun start on arrival when you state your case. The cocktails were great and service tentative. And personalising your cocktails to suit your taste was also very nice. Thanks!
This is one of the most special places I’ve ever been to
Fantastic memorable evening. Would highly recommend and looking forward to going again. Next time will even be prepared with a case that needs solving.
Delicious cocktails and very attentive staff. Really fun experience.
Very lovely atmosphere. Great for date nights. Interesting cocktails. Staff were all lovely.
Wonderful Bar, my friends loved it.
Just a quick point perhaps, the music was a bit too loud.
Will definitely come back!
Amazing experience and the cocktails are simply stunning and delicious. Food was great to. What a charming place!
