Solid performance! Yummy brunch, nice, attentive service, good value and to top it off, quiet. To be able to converse - priceless! We will return!
Good value but service was awful. From the host to the server to the incorrect bill. No exaggeration, worst service I’ve had at any restaurant in over 5 years.
We were a party of 6 for Thanksgiving dinner at 5p. Four of us arrived early, but stood at the bar for quite a while before being acknowledged. Quaint, lively, charming spot with excellent food - we had the seabass, flank steak, squash raviolis, and tomato bisque w/grilled cheese for my son. Service was slow - long wait between drinks, but we weren't in a hurry.
The Thanksgiving dinner was phenomenal!! Great portion sizes. The strawberry cheesecake was delicious too!!!
Service is excellent and food is very good!
Noise level is high, but way too crowded. My chair was continually being bumped, even tripped over by a busperson, making brunch less enjoyable. I highly recommend eating outside, weather permitting.
Love this place! The food and drinks were amazing, bar service was excellent. Love that atmosphere and vibe for sure
Cool spot with great music
Yuck!!! The food came to the table less than seven minutes after we ordered and was AWFUL. Tasted like it had been heated in the microwave. Music was way too loud - even for NYC standards. Dirty wine glasses, stale bread, ugh, the list goes on. Do not waste your time.
Great atmosphere in a cute neighborhood. Food was expensive (it is New York) but yummy and we enjoyed our time!
Yes, I always love Extra Virgin -- a great stable for the neighborhood, and a go-to when the parents are in town. But! we had really frustrating and inattentive service this time around. Otherwise, good as usual.
A fun spot for pre or post dinner drinks. Loved the fun atmosphere but not a huge fan of the food.
One of my fav places
Great food beautifully prepared and presented. Thank you.
Perfect choice for brunch in the West Village. Delicious food and atmosphere.
Food great, service great, mngr very accommodating in seating us
Nice host. Nice waitress. Solid meal. 👍🏻
The restaurant was lovely, but I went home hungry. My entree was presented beautifully, but it was cold as was my daughters, and they reheated it for us. Maybe I ordered wrong, but as nice as the restaurant was, I was not impressed with the food.
Food and drinks were fantastic! Loved that we could make reservations to sit at the bar. Everything about it was wonderful and I'll definitely be back!
Great food, lively atmosphere. Service could use a little improvement.
Service was impeccable! I should have ordered more though. :)
We saw this restaurant on Food Network and the episode was about the Sunday meatballs with spaghetti. The meatballs were outstanding and so huge that we could only eat one and took the rest home for lunch the next day! So good!! The wine selection was nice too! We would go there again the next trip we make to the city!
I really loved it here the first time I went but the seafood was not great the second time around.
My partner and I had dinner this past weekend. We made reservations for two. When we arrived they sat us in the aisle only inches away from the couple next to our table. The noise level was close to defeating. The waitress was delightful and polite, though not very experienced. The wine and appetizers came out fine and normally paced. When they cleared the table following the apps, we expected dinner to some soon. It did not. More than 45 minutes passed before the next course. We called over the Maitre'D to inquire and he made some weak excuse that the kitchen was overwhelmed. All this seems to pull our experience down. However, both the waitress and her manager came by to apologize for the long wait. In addition, when we declined their free offer of desert (we really did not want to wait any longer for food), they removed one of the entrees from the bill. We appreciated their consideration and feel that it was an abnormal situation. But, they made up for it and, given their food is very good, would recommend Extra Virgin to family and friends. We do plan to return.
Great people watching, food is fine.
Heaters outside would make it perfect
Food wasn’t that interesting. Ordered salmon and while it’s temperature was cooked well, it lacked flavor and was pretty bland that evening. Service was mediocre at best but the ambience of the restaurant is lovely!
I could recommend Extra Virgin to some of my friends, but not to most of them. The service was quite good. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. And while the food was pretty good, it was originally served at room temperature and had to be sent back to the kitchen. My biggest complaint was the loud music. We had to ask to sit outside because the volume of the music inside prohibited conversation.
This has been one of my go-to neighborhood staples for years and where my mom insists on going for brunch every time she visits. Sadly, we won’t be going back or recommending Extra Virgin again.
Unacceptable would be an understatement. The 40 minute wait on food, coupled with no acknowledgement by our waiter or apology made for a very unpleasant experience.
However, the attitude of the host cemented this as one of the more disappointing dining experience I’ve experienced in 10yrs of living in New York.
What has happened to Extra Virgin?
I have dined there multiple times with a great experience which is why I decided to bring a group of international friends to the restaurant. Unfortunately and embarrassingly for me as I had promised a great restaurant- we had a terrible evening.
_staff were rude. When we asked for something it felt like this was an effort for them.
_when the food came it was slammed down on the table, again, as though it was an effort to serve us.
_our mains (the short ribs) were terrible. The meat was hot but the polenta and everything else on the plate was completely cold. When we informed the server, she asked someone to take it away and replace it. When the meal came back it was missing all of the garnish, appeared half the size of the first one, and had clearly been microwaved. Again, this was thrown down on the table as though we had inconvenienced the staff.
_the remainder of our order was also sub par compared to what I have experienced in the past and didn’t appear or taste fresh.
The quality of the food, service from reservation till check and the ambience were perfect, it was a great dinner, we will come again.
This was a birthday dinner. The food and service were outstanding. The only negative was the noise level. When the restaurant filled up, because it’s relatively small, it got very loud. Otherwise, everything was wonderful.
I got the warm asparagus and mozzarella salad with tomato soup and it was DELISH!
I’m so surprised by our terrible experience, especially because this restaurant came with a personal recommendation in addition to being so highly rated. We felt rushed through each disappointing dish and didn’t even care to look at the dessert menu (on my birthday). So glad Grom gelato was close by - we won’t be returning to Extra Virgin.
I'd recommend this restaurant only if you sit outside. Unfortunately, it was chilly so we decided to eat inside, which is very pretty. However, they blasted the music as if we were in a club. We could barely talk. I had a headache when I left.
As for food, I had the branzino, which was very dry - overcooked. I couldn't finish it. We also had the artichoke salad which was stringy. On the other hand, the goat cheese salad and the chicken were delicious.
Great food and service, not an amazing cappuccino.
Incredible food and ambiance!
My guests loved everything and were very impressed with the service and attention they got.
Nice restaurant, food was good but service wasn't as expected, we remained unattended for a while and they didn't have some of the items we wanted from the bar. The bloody Mary wasn't good it was watery and flavorless. I've been to this restaurant before for dinner and I think it's much better than brunch.
Food was awful, the shrimp salad had 1 shrimp only, the croque madame was soggy, the fallafel salad bland and tasteless and the avocado toast was served on cold soggy bread. The waiter Denys was inept never once checking on us. We got our drinks minutes before the main course arrived and we had to call him over to ask for coffee and dessert. We were crammed in the corner where it was hot, no a/c and one couldn't move in or out. Dessert arrived after we were done our coffee. Waste of money
