Fallon & Byrne - Exchequer Street Restaurant
Visit to Dublin from Chicago
Great for groups but not for a couple who want a bite and a chat...the noise level will overwhelm any conversation.
Booked the early bird for 5.30 ,only one other couple there at the time,we were brought to a small circular table with one chair and the side of a sofa to sit on.I requested if we could have another table and was informed that another chair could be put at the table. I was suprised by the reaction to my request as there were plenty of available tables
I was very disappointed by this reaction and by guest was very embarrassed it could easily have been handled so much better. Have been there before one of my favourites is Fallon and Byrne Dun Laoghaire, and always fpund the staff so nice and attentive.
Great brasserie experience with buzz. Excellent food and wine servedd very professionally. Enjoyed so much I went two nights in a row!
We got married in December and had our reception here and it was amazing. We had never eaten in the restaurant until last week and we were bowled over. Amazing food and amazing service. All topped off with a complimentary glass of prosecco to celebrate our 6 month anniversary! 100% recommend here for a special occasion.
Great food as always. Pleasant and helpful staff. Had the pre theatre menu which is great value and plenty of choice. Nice city centre atmosphere, will certainly be back.
Had an excellent meal for four, gorgeous food, lovely setting
Lovely food, great setting, still one of my favorite places for a special night out in the heart of Dublin with friends or family.
Very nice atmosphere on Saturday evening and reasonable service. The rib eye steak was underseaoned and a bit more more than medium rare but overall a good meal.
Great place for lunch - excellent service, pleasant and helpful staff, great food. A wonderful culinary experience.
I booked Fallon and Byrne for a work outing on a Tuesday evening. Upon arrival we were seated very quickly. There were set menus already on the table because we were classed as a large group (12). We were unfortunately left waiting for a while before anyone approached us to take a drinks order and then the same again for our dinner orders. The restaurant was quite busy at the time, so it wasn't as if the staff were wilfully neglecting us though - they were all very busy.
The starters arrived and there wasn't one complaint about the food - quite the opposite; everyone was very impressed. The same again for the main course; every single one of our party commented on how good the food was. I did have to ask for my dessert course as the staff seemed to have forgotten me, but it wasn't a problem and the waiter was very apologetic.
The noise levels were quite high but again, the place was more or less full so it was to be expected.
All in all, any issues with service or noise were easily forgivable as the restaurant was so busy (which is always a good sign) and because of the quality of the food - it was outstanding, and I would easily recommend Fallon and Byrne to anyone going out in a large or small group.
The ultimate in seasonal menu using fresh local ingredients. Pea and asparagus salad was amazing. Paired with Hake with more peas, asparagus and langostines!
Went there for lunch after reading reviews about it. We were not disappointed. Hubby had the lunch special (two course for €22) and I had the Hake €18. The fish was very delicious. The shredded pork bruschetta and Irish burger are very very nice. The highlight, believe it or not, was the free bread. They had different varieties there (the tomato herb one was absolutely amazing!)
The service was really good, from the moment we arrive at the restaurant. We felt warm and being well taken care of. Would love to come back again!
The food was excellent, ordered the rib eye and I have to say it was probably one of the best I've had so far!! Only downside was the wait... the food took ages to come!
Excellent lunch on Saturday in Fallon and Byrne, however the waitress was too quick clearing the mains, I was still picking only chips and the asked to clear the table. My only negative. Everything else was fantastic.
Enjoyed our lunch with the family.
As a muslim I found the waiter and chef very accomodating to our dietry needs.
My only criticism would be that more options be available and that the meat based dishes be perhaps sourced from halal suppliers.
We went for a Sunday Lunch last Sunday and were reallly looking forward to it, as we had been there before and thoroughly enjoyed it.Sadly on this occasion it was not so enjoyable. The waiter who served us, while nice, wasnt great. We both had starters, pulled pork bruschetta for me and Caesar salad for my husband. The pork was nice but the Caesar salad had almost no dressing on it,so was very dry.We both ordered burgers, and both of us asked for very well done, but both burgers were very pink and neither of us could eat all of it.In fact I had ordered mine to be very well done and to have no cheese or bacon.Even while the waiter was taking the order it was fairly obvious that his mind was not on the task,as we had to repeat ourselves a couple of times. My burger arrived with no bun and a side plate of tomatoes!! Another waiter delivered the food to the table and i asked him could i have a burger bun,he was very pleasant and came back with my plate very quickly. As i said before, both burgers were VERY undercooked. I then had a Kinder Bueno dessert, which was ok, but had a strong taste of butterscotch which i wasnt expecting! My husband had lost interest in ordering dessert because of the undercooked burger and the tasteless Caesar salad and said he would make something at home.Overall a very disappointing lunch. So probably wouldn't reccomended.
The food was gorgeous, I had a vegan main and dessert and my boyfriend had the non vegan menu and we both loved it! The staff were so lovely and friendly! We will definitely be back!
Very disappointing experience on Friday evening at the restaurant. My food was served cold and with a sauce I didn’t order. Plates of all guests were cold. Wine very expensive. Definitely won’t be coming back and could not recommend. Sad to say...
The hype doesn't meet the experience. Great location, beautiful restaurant, no doubt.
Food was not memorable in any way. Overcooked steaks We couldn't tell who got the medium and who got the rare. They were indistinguishable . Sauce was cold and gloopy. Ordinarily I'd complain but was in a rush to get home.
Staff reaching across other diners to serve and collect plates, instead of moving around the table.
With the enormous competition in the restaurant game in Dublin, F&B need to seriously up their game.
Service was very poor. Our food was forgotten and nobody came to check on us for a very long time, unapologetically, as the servers were too busy chatting amongst themselves. The restaurant was not overly busy for this to reasonably occur.
Gorgeous food, service and atmosphere. I will be back.
Especially impressed with the vegan options, and the delicious kinder bueno dessert!
Excellent location and dining experience. Good wine list. Very good value early bird menu available
Looking forward to next visit with friends!
We weren’t told that the restaurant needed the table back until we ordered dessert. And the waiter was quite rude about it.
Time and time again Fallon present magnificent food, roll on next trip to Dublin.
The food is always good as is the service. The only problem is the noise level.
Great food, and service in this restaurant which is consistently good. Great for small or large gatherings. Lovely airy spacious room which a Parisienne feel.. Have been here several times for lunch and dinner and have no hesitation recommending it
Food was good but the burger was very dry. It was over cooked and needed some tomato or something to add moisture. Staff were great especially when my baby started having a tantrum. Restaurant is starting to look a bit tired could do with a refresh.
Good food, nothing special
Nice food but a little bit expensive.
Noisy ambiance .
Never disappoints. Fantastic food, the risotto was amazing. Kinder Bueno desert needs to be renamed - name doesn’t do it justice & might put someone off ordering this fantastic end to a truly great dinner.
Scallops were great, terrine of foie gras was unremarkable. Steak a little overdone, lamb was perfectly cooked and the accompanying gnocchi were spot on. Espresso martinis for desert which were bang average. I felt that everything was a little overpriced considering the many other quality restaurants in the area. It felt a little like a hotel restaurant vibe, somewhat impersonal. Nice room, good lighting. Overall: a pleasant evening but not worth the money.
Nice central venue in the city for a bite to eat. Friendly staff, delicious food and value for money .
we had lunch on a rather quiet Tuesday after the bank holiday weekend but we were very happy with the food and service
I enjoyed a lovely leisurely lunch with my 3 daughters and a friend from France. We were not rushed in any way, and the staff were attentive at all times, the cocktails were delicious too!! The food is always fabulous each time I dine there.
Good all round would recommend !!
Really nice experience, excellent attention to detail, asked if window open was too much, napkins refolded when partner went to the toilet etc. Service was excellent, staff seemed happy, noticed manager lady hug staff member. The food as expected lived up to expectations, simple enough, done well with quality ingredients. Loved the twist on Knickerbocker glory. We left the restaurant happy due to the food , ambience and attention to detail. We will be back for sure.
