We went here for restaurant week in the spring and were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. This time around, it was a much more negative experience. After arriving, we were told the table wasn’t ready so our party went to the bar for drinks. Once the table was ready, we sat down and it was at least 10-15 minutes before anyone came to our table. Our server was polite enough, but didn’t offer bread until the meal was almost over. Service was extremely slow, but the worst part was the negativity we heard on the floor. We could overhear waitresses complaining that it was Restaurant Week and they couldn’t wait for it to be over. I also overheard them complaining about customers right on the floor. This is highly unprofessional, especially as many restaurants are glad for this week because it increases patronage. It didn’t make us feel as though we were welcomed or wanted there. The food was okay, but not as good as last time and the portions were smaller. I will say that the bartender was very pleasant. Overall, not a great experience for anyone in the party, and disappointing as we had brought someone here for the first time.
I truly enjoyed the experience we had. The chicken parmigiana was delicious. We also had an appetizer that was wonderful. The bread and dip they bring out was amazing. I could eat that all day long. I had cannolis for desert. We will definitely go back to Fanars again with friends.
So delicious, wonderful sauce, very nice place!! Definitely will be back. .and oh that sauce was soooo good!!
Overall excellent but they were minus one server that evening which made service a little slower than it might have been.
My husband and I went for our Anniversary! We were not disappointed. We started with The calamari and it was delicious. I had the Fanara Alla Mare. Very tasty! They give you good size portions. My husband had the Sunday sauce special and he said it was good. Our waitress Nicole was very friendly. I would definitely recommend Fanara’s and I know we will be back!
Olive tapenade and warm bread was delicious. Enjoyed the stacked caprese salad followed by shrimp scampi. Pasta was delicious and shrimp cooked perfectly. Others thoroughly enjoyed the sea scallop special and chicken Marsala. Tara, our waitress, was attentive and not at all intrusive. We were allowed a leisurely dinner and never felt rushed.
My new favorite Italian restaurant
Enjoyed a pleasurable dinner experience. Waiter was very attentive and carried out our wishes to space out our meals at our leisure. Food was very good and plentiful. My only complaint was the filet mignon wasn't as good as in the past. A little on tough side but very flavorful. Others enjoyed their meals immensely.
Grandson going off to college
The ambience of this restaurant is only surpassed by the excellent service and delicious food. We dine here at least once per month. You won’t be disappointed.
This was the third time that we have dined her in the past year. The service was impeccable as our server checked in at just the right moment never felt rushed and never felt like we were waiting. Food has always been outstanding meatball appetizer is our favorite! Looking forward the the next visit.
This is the second time I've eaten here since it changed from Manzella's and the food is still excellent! A bit more expensive, but worth every penny. Still feels family oriented and very inviting. I took my close friend for her first time ever and she absolutely loved it. We couldn't stop talking about how we can't wait to eat our leftovers! I had the white clam sauce and linguine and she had the seafood with penne. I tried some of her scallops and they were perfectly cooked. Definitely will go back!
Very good Italian food, a good wine list and fair prices
Nice atmosphere. It's small inside but in an intimate way. Our server was nice and not obtrusive. The olive tapenade is a really nice touch with their bread. We had calamari which was good. Light and crispy. I had the salmon special which was a little over done for me. It came with asparagus risotto which was not very creamy like I am used to with a risotto (and didnt have any asparagus in it) but tasty rice regardless. It was a really small portion too which I appreciate as someone who doesnt like feeling overly stuffed when leave dinner. Overall, I'll be back. I feel like I didnt order whatever is probably their signature dish and want to give it a fair shot.
Food was amazing as usual. Antipasto salad is authentic and plentiful. Sea bass was outstanding and the filet mignon cooked to perfection
It was a quaint little place with a decent wine list and menu. Food was pretty good! Our waitress was friendly.
So, Laurie was at the bar. She's in charge of something at Benchmark. She knows a great guy for Michelle (the hostess). You know how we know all that? Apparently the owners, the staff, and Laurie herself see no problem with a raging alcoholic screaming in the bar. Entirely ruined our dinner due to her antics, which is unfortunate since the food was pretty good.
Fanaras is one of the best Italian Restaurants in Western New York
Food was terrific as was the service.
The service and the food at this restaurant is out of this world delicious. My husband and I come here every year for our anniversary.
Good food for the money. Simple decor and average service. My wife tripped on the uneven pavement outside the restaurant and twisted her foot. Be careful.
Always good food and good service.
We had a 7:30 reservation and waited almost an hour to be seated BUT the owner was kind and generous and said it was due to the busy graduation weekend. We understood completely. He bought us drinks and the food was amazingly delicious. Our servers were warm and kind and this neighborhood gem is not to be missed. Larry makes a wonderful martini! Since we were visiting and will be up again, we will be back for sure.
Great service and food.
A neighborhood gem. Excellent food, nice wine list and good service.
Very clean and well decorated. The restaurant is not large but it is very comfortable. Servers are very good and friendly. The owner Joe is almost always at the restaurant as is his daughter Michelle who is the manager both are very competent and friendly. Good bartenders a great kitchen staff and good, generous drinks at a fair price.
Love their grouper.
The food was wonderful. It was noisy for a small place. But that is to be expected. We would definitely go back.
My husband and I have been going there for years and when their cook Joe left so did the good food. I don't think we will be back anytime soon. The ambience is nice with the white table cloths and all but the 1/2 price wines at the bar during happy hour have disappeared as well. 😢
Even though we had a reservation for my birthday dinner, we waited 30 minutes at the bar for our table. We were then seated basically seated in the walkway between the restrooms and kitchen doors. Needless to say, it was busy and very uncomfortable. Also, they were only offering their restaurant week menu. You could not order anything from their normal menu. No where was this stated on their website or anywhere to be seen in advance.
Food was very good. Table was in front of a doorway to a party and was really loud. We could hardly hear each other
This was my first time at Fanara's. It was great to try a new restaurant in the area during Restaurant Week. The food and service was great.
One of my favorites. Food is delicious. Always an enjoyable experience.
Great Evening out with friends! Thanks!
Friendly atmosphere, food was delicious, great hostess n bartender.
This was our first time to Fanra’s but we will definitely be going back!
Ambience was warm and cozy. Bar service was attentive and friendly. Owner was present and was hospitable and warm. Meeting and greeting all customers . Menu spectacular and our server was friendly and on point with appetizers and the main dishes . Food was to die for great Italian and generous portions Would highly recommend and will definitely be back
Very good food at a fair price. Facilities are spotless and plentiful parking
This place is not cheap. I had looked at the menu prior to going and was so excited to try the vodka pasta, one of my favorite dishes. There version was supposed to have prosciutto in it, it did not. Of course they still charged $20 for a plate of pasta, very watery sauce, and what tasted like overcooked frozen peas. To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. Our waitress was not friendly at all, never asked how our food was once. I asked her about knocking off a few dollars because there was no prosciutto in my dish and she said no. Left my mother's cc in the machine and acted bothered when we called her over to say we didn't get the card back. Absolutely awful, would never go back.
Greater quality of food for a reasonable rate. Owner is always there greeting everyone, great place!
