Located on Wigmore Street in Marylebone, Fancy Crab celebrates the world’s most sought-after shellfish, the red king crab. With less than a handful of restaurants serving this delicacy in London, Fancy Crab sets itself apart with an exciting and innovative menu that highlights the versatility of this delicious meat.
Displayed in pride of place at the back of the restaurant, the red king crab is expertly prepared and served simply on ice or baked with butter and thyme, to allow the sublime flavors of this sweet, succulent meat to shine through. Ordered whole or as portions of leg or shoulder meat, the crab make a truly luxurious experience for a decadent lunch or dinner. Signature main courses include Singapore chilli crab; Fancy king crab burger with potato fries and coleslaw and King crab fettuccine all prepared in different ways to show off this indulgent ingredient. The bar downstairs offers a cosy retreat with booth seating, serving an array of delicious cocktails.

Great tasting food. The tempura King crab as a bit too oily but apart from that food was delicious.
Quiet atmosphere but we went during off hours around 6pm
Great music.
We will definitely come back as well as recommend.

Crab burger and crab benedict were great but the “crab hash” does not actually contain crab!!
Quite expensive for what you get

The set lunch is a bargain here, and their soup particularl good. I also liked the cod. There is a nice Californian Chardonnay on the list too.

Slightly hard to attract waiters' attention.

The langoustine starter was utterly pathetic. I was shocked they served it. No meat at all. I complained to no avail. The cold King Crab was lovely but the Grilled crab didn’t have a particularly nice flavour. Soggy fries. You can do better in London than Fancy Crab.

Visited Fancy Crab with friends for brunch (with unlimited prosecco option) during the weekend. The menu selection is short and simple. We ordered king crab benedicts and they were really delicious! Another dish that we've ordered was buttermilk blueberry waffles and they were really good too! Overall it was a nice brunch, not too crowded, our waitress was polite and we had a good time.

My wife and I had lunch and we really enjoyed it. Very nice staff. The food and wine were excellent and a bit different. Welcoming to families. The prices are reasonable for what you get, decent value to money ratio. It's not 'cheap' but doesn't pretend to be and given it's location it's not bad.

Picked this place for my dads birthday meal as he is a massive crab and seafood fan and never really comes to London so thought it would be a nice treat.

Whilst the food was really great the service really let this place down. We waited to be acknowledged and seated for sometime despite there being more waiting staff than customers. We weren’t told that the Cornish crab platter wasn’t available until after we tried to order this, even though it supposedly isn’t meant to be on the menu anymore. This was a huge shame as it was the main reason I’d picked the restaurant for my dad!

We had to repeatly ask for drinks, sauces that had been forgotten about. We were served our wine in a cracked glass, not really an issue as immediately they said they would replace the glass. We then queried the wine that had been thrown from our bottle that had been poured into the said glass and they stated they would bring an additional glass, again no problem. However the glass served was clearly a different wine and not cold. When we queried this it was stated they are the same but it was very clear they weren’t even the same colour or taste. They didn’t attempt to bring the bottle to compare and I suspect that it was just the cheapest house white and that they were hoping we wouldn’t notice the difference.
We were left with our dirty empty plates for a long time whilst the wait staff chatted.

When we didn’t tip the full 12.5% based on the service, we were questioned about this. It is optional and even they should have acknowledged the service had been awful.
They then proceeded to discuss this amongst themselves before we left.

It’s a shame the service didn’t match the really great food and overshadowed the whole meal.

If you love red king crab, you'll love fancy crab. Really tasty. Slightly flat atmosphere as not as busy as expected. Also, table layout is awkward with a row of tables right as you walk in which almost everyone refused to sit in.
Would defo go back. Not overly expensive. Great food.

Good food, poor service. Had to ask for a drinks menu after waiting 15 minutes. When I placed my food order I was told that they no longer served that particular dish because it's not popular - why is it on the menu? Small plates we shared as starters are very small! The waitress started clearing our plates when I was still eating. Mains arrived and presentation lacked creativity but tasted real good. Nobody came back to our table and we had to get up and go and ask a waiter to take an order. Food is worth the visit but service isn't great.

I booked a table for four from Open Table (on Friday, 6 July afternoon), for their Weekend Brunch with Bubbles (3 courses menu with bottomless Prosecco, at £15.00 per person, including service and tax) at Saturday, 7 July morning. My party arrived before me, and was told by the Manager it was a different brunch menus, and bottomless Prosecco is additional £15.00 per person on top of menu price. When I arrived, I spoke to the waitress and show her my booking confirmation, she responding saying she doesn't work weekend so she is not sure about my brunch deal. I went online and show her their promotional menus, she said she got it and then walked away. Few minutes later, she came back saying that's not their menu, and offered us their regular brunch menus instead. We asked to speak to their manager (we can see him on the phone with someone about their sound system). We waited for him to finish the call, the waitress then went to him and come back, telling us that our brunch deal is not valid. We told her we booked the promotion on the day before and she said they have changed their menus online. We asked to speak to manager, she responded saying he is very bust as he has many things to do, so he can't come to speak to us. It was 11.30 hours in the morning, there were only our party and another table. So we left the restaurant. I was fuming and embarrassed as I organised the brunch for my friends. Not only they didn't honour their promotion deal, the manager didn't even have the courtesy to come to speak to us. By the way, I went on the Open Table website, that promotional deal is still there!!

The food here was really delicious but the service and ambience let the Fancy Crab down greatly. Our table was at 9.15pm but the lighting had clearly not been adjusted so it was very bright and the music was quiet but the bass was unnecessarily high. Also the service was below average. Whilst our waitress was lovely and suggested some great food choices, our starters of oysters and guacamole (neither of which need cooking time) took almost 45 minutes to arrive and then once our main had arrived, no one came to check on our table at all until we had finished our meal. Even once our bill had arrived, our finished plates were still sitting in front of us until another lady (who didn't look best pleased) came to remove them. It really is a shame as the food is great, but there are so many fab restaurants to choose from in London, that service like this just really isn't acceptable.

It was a good experience but the special bottomless menu wasn’t clear on the open table website - it made it seem like you would get 3 courses and bottomless prosecco for £15 each when actually it’s £15pp for the bottomless prosecco alone. For that reason it made the experience slightly less enjoyable than it could have been as that was the main reason we chose to dine here.

Came here mainly for the Red King Crab and seafood. Ordered a house platter as the starter to share. It had a nice range of different shellfish and a squid ink cracker. Everything was very fresh, but mussels and cockles were a little small, and the squid ink cracker was quite salty.

Had the whole leg on ice as main. The leg is undoubtedly very meaty, however, it was quite salty again, which I did not expect. I thought it would be a delicate sweet flavour, apparently, when they catch the crab they immediately steam with sea salt water, and they do not season it in the restaurant. Also, I found the condiments didn't match the crab very well. The salad was good.

The best thing is the service and ambience of the restaurant. It fits for special occasions and dates, but casual enough to "sit" comfortably. Staff are very friendly and lovely to have a conversation with.

The wait staff was all over the place. It definitely seemed like there was more staff than customer, yet service was ridiculously awful. We had to ask on many occasions for plates, cutlery (after the food was served and getting cold). We waited so long for cutlery that my friend took a set from a neighbouring table (still waiting on that knife and fork).
On the positive the staff in the kitchen can cook, because the food was delicious, however you don’t get much of it and it is over prices. Very much style over substance. It’s a shame really as it does have potential. Best thing on the menus isn’t the crab but the chocolate fondant with the caramel ice cream. Really nice!!
Would I go there again? NO
Would I recommend? NO
Would I tell people how bad and never to go there? YES!!

Staff, service and food all A1! what really let this place down was the foul smell in the basement level. Read a review before attending that said it smelt like wee and yes they were absolutley correct, a strong smell of Wee downstairs and werent even sitting anywhere the toliet, its obviously not very well ventilated and maybe suffers dampness. If ever going back ill be sure to request a seat upstairs on the ground floor!

We had a delicious meal on Monday and will definitely be returning. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was delicious. Obviously we had to try some King crab so we went for some legs and they were so sweet and juicy. We had scallop cerviche and octopus carpaccio to start, followed by soft shell crab, Singapore chilli crab and as I said before the King crab legs. Everything was beautifully cooked and seasoned. We washed it all down with a bottle of Pinot Gris which was perfectly recommended by our waiter. All staff who looked after us were very friendly. Our only disappointment was the pudding. We ordered the King crab cheesecake and we're very underwhelmed by it. The presentation was excellent, the taste was nice but it had a strange texture, maybe ever so slightly over set because it was a bit rubbery... This spoilt nothing though and we left very happy customers. Thank you!
