Located on Wigmore Street in Marylebone, Fancy Crab celebrates the world’s most sought-after shellfish, the red king crab. With less than a handful of restaurants serving this delicacy in London, Fancy Crab sets itself apart with an exciting and innovative menu that highlights the versatility of this delicious meat.
Displayed in pride of place at the back of the restaurant, the red king crab is expertly prepared and served simply on ice or baked with butter and thyme, to allow the sublime flavors of this sweet, succulent meat to shine through. Ordered whole or as portions of leg or shoulder meat, the crab make a truly luxurious experience for a decadent lunch or dinner. Signature main courses include Singapore chilli crab; Fancy king crab burger with potato fries and coleslaw and King crab fettuccine all prepared in different ways to show off this indulgent ingredient. The bar downstairs offers a cosy retreat with booth seating, serving an array of delicious cocktails.

Service poor. We’re given a birthday cake, when it was for the table behind. Singaporean crab way too much ginger and overall a very poor experience.

I went for the bottomless brunch and was not disappointed. You can still get food from the a la carte menu, which was an added bonus.

Loved fancy crab. Had the set lunch menu, two courses for £16 which was good value for money and included a glass of wine. We were the first sitting so it was a little quiet!

Arrived at a completely empty restaurant at 9pm on a Saturday night only to be told there was a technical issue! I wouldn’t have minded if someone had called me to let me know but the courtesy call didn’t happen so a wasted journey and also an embarrassing situation for me. Very hard to find a good restaurant on a Saturday night without booking in advance so our night was ruined

Our table was cancelled 5 mins before arriving, I was told the restaurant tried to contact us, but I had no missed calls, emails or messages. Ruined our Saturday evening.

Our first visit (previously) was great - our second, not so much. The red crab on ice, au gratin and grilled was disappointing. The scallop appetizer was good on both occasions (excellent on the first, okay on the second but a totally different presentation.) Our visit was four days apart so it was confusing. The second being pretty but easy to eat in a shell perched high on a mountain of pink salt.

On our first visit, service was hit and miss although personable. Lovely server, eager to please was well intentioned, but her attention to tables was haphazard at best. The food, on our first visit was very, very good. Our second visit was handled by a very capable gentleman who was totally "on it." but the food was very disappointing. We ordered the crab on fish skin cracker on both occasions. Brilliant on the first occasion - a completely different plating and taste on the second, Confusing when trying to reconcile the visits. Like two different restaurants. We loved the first experience and did not enjoy the second (despite the excellent service).

This is a great room and concept - but consistency and value figure prominently in our appreciation of a restaurant. With so many options in London, it is unlikely we'll return.

I don't think it fair to comment on the food as we left before eating. Stood in the doorway waiting for some time to be greeted (hardly any diners). Eventually told to sit in first booth then virtually told off as we went to sit in our understanding of where that was but told, rather curtly, no it wasn't our table. Then waited for some time before being asked for drinks order. Menu has changed I think from memory - overall we decided that given the price point for the food we would like to be treated a little better. If the restaurant was full that would at least be an excuse but it wasn't . Maybe a bad day but these shouldn't happen if you decide to premium price! The web site forces a star rating for food so have shown average but as I note we felt that we were an annoyance so this is a guess!

Food was great but waitress was very impatient with poor bedside manner. Made situations awkward, continued to rush us until we had finished eating then never came over to ask how we were. Also did not mention that we were entitled to a free drink with our choice on the menu until we prompted and asked it that was the case. Not a great way to spend my 30th birthday.

The food is just OK, it certainly doesn't have a good price quality, or quantity balance as the cost is around 40 per person for a tiny crab leg, a side and a glass of wine. I would also recommend lowering the volume of the music, it's way too loud.

Great tasting food. The tempura King crab as a bit too oily but apart from that food was delicious.

The set lunch is a bargain here, and their soup particularl good. I also liked the cod. There is a nice Californian Chardonnay on the list too.

The langoustine starter was utterly pathetic. I was shocked they served it. No meat at all. I complained to no avail. The cold King Crab was lovely but the Grilled crab didn’t have a particularly nice flavour. Soggy fries. You can do better in London than Fancy Crab.

Visited Fancy Crab with friends for brunch (with unlimited prosecco option) during the weekend. The menu selection is short and simple. We ordered king crab benedicts and they were really delicious! Another dish that we've ordered was buttermilk blueberry waffles and they were really good too! Overall it was a nice brunch, not too crowded, our waitress was polite and we had a good time.
