Located on Wigmore Street in Marylebone, Fancy Crab celebrates the world’s most sought-after shellfish, the red king crab. With less than a handful of restaurants serving this delicacy in London, Fancy Crab sets itself apart with an exciting and innovative menu that highlights the versatility of this delicious meat.
Displayed in pride of place at the back of the restaurant, the red king crab is expertly prepared and served simply on ice or baked with butter and thyme, to allow the sublime flavors of this sweet, succulent meat to shine through. Ordered whole or as portions of leg or shoulder meat, the crab make a truly luxurious experience for a decadent lunch or dinner. Signature main courses include Singapore chilli crab; Fancy king crab burger with potato fries and coleslaw and King crab fettuccine all prepared in different ways to show off this indulgent ingredient. The bar downstairs offers a cosy retreat with booth seating, serving an array of delicious cocktails.

I booked a table for four from Open Table (on Friday, 6 July afternoon), for their Weekend Brunch with Bubbles (3 courses menu with bottomless Prosecco, at £15.00 per person, including service and tax) at Saturday, 7 July morning. My party arrived before me, and was told by the Manager it was a different brunch menus, and bottomless Prosecco is additional £15.00 per person on top of menu price. When I arrived, I spoke to the waitress and show her my booking confirmation, she responding saying she doesn't work weekend so she is not sure about my brunch deal. I went online and show her their promotional menus, she said she got it and then walked away. Few minutes later, she came back saying that's not their menu, and offered us their regular brunch menus instead. We asked to speak to their manager (we can see him on the phone with someone about their sound system). We waited for him to finish the call, the waitress then went to him and come back, telling us that our brunch deal is not valid. We told her we booked the promotion on the day before and she said they have changed their menus online. We asked to speak to manager, she responded saying he is very bust as he has many things to do, so he can't come to speak to us. It was 11.30 hours in the morning, there were only our party and another table. So we left the restaurant. I was fuming and embarrassed as I organised the brunch for my friends. Not only they didn't honour their promotion deal, the manager didn't even have the courtesy to come to speak to us. By the way, I went on the Open Table website, that promotional deal is still there!!

The food here was really delicious but the service and ambience let the Fancy Crab down greatly. Our table was at 9.15pm but the lighting had clearly not been adjusted so it was very bright and the music was quiet but the bass was unnecessarily high. Also the service was below average. Whilst our waitress was lovely and suggested some great food choices, our starters of oysters and guacamole (neither of which need cooking time) took almost 45 minutes to arrive and then once our main had arrived, no one came to check on our table at all until we had finished our meal. Even once our bill had arrived, our finished plates were still sitting in front of us until another lady (who didn't look best pleased) came to remove them. It really is a shame as the food is great, but there are so many fab restaurants to choose from in London, that service like this just really isn't acceptable.

Lovely Friday lunch at the Fancy Crab. Great deal with a bottle of prossecco when ordering 12 oysters. Crab was amazing and so was the house plate of shellfish. Will definitely return - maybe for a weekend brunch.

It was a good experience but the special bottomless menu wasn’t clear on the open table website - it made it seem like you would get 3 courses and bottomless prosecco for £15 each when actually it’s £15pp for the bottomless prosecco alone. For that reason it made the experience slightly less enjoyable than it could have been as that was the main reason we chose to dine here.

Came here mainly for the Red King Crab and seafood. Ordered a house platter as the starter to share. It had a nice range of different shellfish and a squid ink cracker. Everything was very fresh, but mussels and cockles were a little small, and the squid ink cracker was quite salty.

Had the whole leg on ice as main. The leg is undoubtedly very meaty, however, it was quite salty again, which I did not expect. I thought it would be a delicate sweet flavour, apparently, when they catch the crab they immediately steam with sea salt water, and they do not season it in the restaurant. Also, I found the condiments didn't match the crab very well. The salad was good.

The best thing is the service and ambience of the restaurant. It fits for special occasions and dates, but casual enough to "sit" comfortably. Staff are very friendly and lovely to have a conversation with.

The wait staff was all over the place. It definitely seemed like there was more staff than customer, yet service was ridiculously awful. We had to ask on many occasions for plates, cutlery (after the food was served and getting cold). We waited so long for cutlery that my friend took a set from a neighbouring table (still waiting on that knife and fork).
On the positive the staff in the kitchen can cook, because the food was delicious, however you don’t get much of it and it is over prices. Very much style over substance. It’s a shame really as it does have potential. Best thing on the menus isn’t the crab but the chocolate fondant with the caramel ice cream. Really nice!!
Would I go there again? NO
Would I recommend? NO
Would I tell people how bad and never to go there? YES!!

Staff, service and food all A1! what really let this place down was the foul smell in the basement level. Read a review before attending that said it smelt like wee and yes they were absolutley correct, a strong smell of Wee downstairs and werent even sitting anywhere the toliet, its obviously not very well ventilated and maybe suffers dampness. If ever going back ill be sure to request a seat upstairs on the ground floor!

We had a delicious meal on Monday and will definitely be returning. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was delicious. Obviously we had to try some King crab so we went for some legs and they were so sweet and juicy. We had scallop cerviche and octopus carpaccio to start, followed by soft shell crab, Singapore chilli crab and as I said before the King crab legs. Everything was beautifully cooked and seasoned. We washed it all down with a bottle of Pinot Gris which was perfectly recommended by our waiter. All staff who looked after us were very friendly. Our only disappointment was the pudding. We ordered the King crab cheesecake and we're very underwhelmed by it. The presentation was excellent, the taste was nice but it had a strange texture, maybe ever so slightly over set because it was a bit rubbery... This spoilt nothing though and we left very happy customers. Thank you!

Having already been to Fancy Crab a month or two before this trip I was quite astonished to how different my experience was on May 1st. The starters and drinks were very swift to arrive but after this the whole expierence went downhill. We had to wait another hour until the main courses arrived. My steak which I ordered medium rare arrived well done meaning I had to wait another 20 minutes before eating the steak by myself with the rest of my family finishing their food 10 minutes prior. My brothers had noticed our crab waiting by the kitchen for over 20 minutes meaning it wasn’t hot at all when it arrived. It’s a shame as the ambiance was pleasant it’s just even bigger shame to experience this on my birthday.

Excellent service, tasty food... only points to improve - ambience and interior - it looks like a diner and downstairs had a weird smell. All the champagne but Don Perignon has finished, so we opted for the British sparkling wine which obviously was a bad choice :( tables are bit small. For the same money, you can go to The Beast where they serve also king crab but interior is on a much higher level. Service obviously made up for the interior and we had a great time eating some tasty oysters and crab. I would recommend but unless interior changes then I would like to see bit lower prices.

Special occassion as it was my birthday and my missus treated me to a nice dinner. The food was quite salty including a sweet dessert which i HATE. We ordered cockles for starters which wasnt too bad. Then for main, a crab burger which was OK but not worth £21. We also had a crab leg. Small portion for £25. Fancy name fancy food but not fancy tastes. Disappointed with the outcome. The staff were very friendly which is always a good thing. Oh and we had to pay for water. £3 a bottle!!!!!

Managed to reserve last minute and luckily it was a quiet period. Service and food was great and took the offer of 3 courses for £27. My only thing to point out is, the salted caramel with chocolate fondant desert.

Having tasted salted caramel before which in my experience, is salty at first but settles into a mild taste, in this case I found quite over powering despite trying to mix it with the fondant and crushed shorted bread sprinkles. I’d definitely still recommend this spot overall.

I did not have the house speciality but my partner did, and found it very salty. We were surprised to be discouraged from one of the main course offerings on the grounds it would not be big enough. I had the soft shell crab which were very good. The wines are overpriced and made the overall meal only average value for money. Service efficient and attentive.
