It was our first time in Fanelli's and we will definitely be back. The food was amazing, the staff were amazing and the place was just fabulous. The buzz from Merchant square didn't spoil our dining experience(people told us it might), it added to it.

A few of the main courses were too garlicky, to the point almost unedinle. There was no vanilla ice cream left to accompany my hot chocolate fudge cake. The substitute chocolate ice cream was substandard. These points were made to server

On the OpenTable app the menu includes steak. No steak on the menu when you get there... Did not ask for the food that we could not eat to be taken off the bill - they did that themselves without asking.

very friendly welcome and nice food. As the resturant is within an enclosed courtyard it has a nice feeling of being outside but inside. There are other restaurants etc around and so it can be quite noisy.

I have been to this restaurant on a few occasions, the food has always been excellent, this was the first time I had been during the week for lunch. I was accompanied by my two sisters, they enjoyed their meal as much as I did, at £8.95 for two courses, what a bargain, & big portions.

The noise level was idiotic - we had to shout which is hardly conductive to civilised conversations. Even ordering was made difficult, the staff had to be right next to you in order to understand what you were asking for which was challenging, given how close together the tables were. Would or could not turn down the music. The food was good and proper Italian, the staff were very friendly and cheerful .

Food and service were both good and we even didn't mind being seated next to the kitchen door but what really spoilt the evening was at the end of our main course the music volume was doubled and as we were sitting next to a speaker we had to shout to each other to be heard. Twice we asked for the music to be turned down, but it didn't seem any quieter. Whatever happened to background music that meant you could still talk and hear each other rather than shouting at each other.

The meal was a family get together for American and Canadian nieces and it suited everyone’s taste from pizza for kids to lovely Italian lasagne to a picky husband who had chicken. All thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to staff and chef

Food was lovely but found a piece of metal in the starter. They then got my main wrong so had to wait 10 minutes for them to make another. They did take the starter off the bill but 2 mistakes was very disappointing given it wasn’t even busy at the time.

Restaurant in Covered Merchant Square area of Glasgow, Fanelli's bills itself as Italian which the menu reflects in a brit abroad style. Wines range from Spain and Argentina with only a nod to Chianti. I would avoid if you are are after true Italian experience and food.

The food was tasty and well cooked, good portion size. Service was very good, staff were friendly. The seating was a bit odd as some of the chairs were cushioned and fairly comfortable, but others were hard wooden seats, which is not really conducive with sitting for a lengthy period. As the night progressed it became very noisy from surrounding restaurants

The whole experience was enjoyable from the friendly service staff to the food, it was a nice relaxing environment for a catch up with friends. Good if attending the nearby concert hall, just a very short walk. Good choice of dishes and staff were very helpful with suggestions.

I ate here with a group of 8 people at 5.30pm on a Monday night and therefore as expected it was quiet which made the issues all the more surprising. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly but the food was barely warm, quality of the food was good if it had been served hot I would have no complaint. The staff served us OK but after our main meal they never came back to ask if we would like tea or coffee. The barely warm food will mean that we will eat somewhere else next time.

We have visited Fanellis as a group of 8 and as a family if 4 many times. We normally have a great experience. However on Sunday we waited 40 mins from starter to main course and when food arrived both calzone pizzas were burnt. Other pizzas were just OK no where near usual standard. Other food again was ok. We complained about my friends meal and a refund was given however no apology was given for poor service and food. We also had to wait over 30 mins for our drink order. Very disappointing and I doubt we will rush back.
